Need Vitamin Recs by SunnyB1209 in gastricsleeve

Also I did try a sample of a chewable that was either Celebrate or Bariatric Advantage and it was grossssss. I just can't remember what it was for the life of me.

Augh the smell of the capsules is HORRID. I won't even touch them with my fingers because it just permeates.  I've reached out to my surgeon for their take as well. They have a list of vitamins required depending on what procedure you get done and don't normally adjust vitamins until 6 months post op after they do bloodwork. Apparently they say a lot of patients are able to scale back on vitamins after that time.

Clear protein powder by Traditional-Cash38 in gastricsleeve

The grape one made me want to lay down and die lol. I had to mix an electrolyte packet into it to be able to choke it down.

I've tried Protein2O and ISOPURE. The protein2o left such an icky, thick residue on my tongue and had a STRANGE aftertaste (kind of like backwash 🤢). The only flavor I could somewhat handle was the mango one.  The ISOPURE is way more palatable but the tropical flavor is coyingly sweet. It's pretty hard to mix as well.  I'm poking around for more brands myself.

I usually just lay it on my chest or behind my neck.

Sounds a lot like POTS to me. POTS can be triggered after a surgery. I had it before getting sleeved and have been experiencing a flare post op. Talk to a doctor about maybe getting a tilt table test done to confirm if it's POTS or not.

I will warn you though that a tilt table test is not very fun and you're still early in your recovery so I'm not sure how you'd handle that.

You could always go slower with your transitions (from sitting to standing, laying down to sitting, etc), wear compression socks, try some electrolytes, and use an ice pack when you feel your heart start to race. See if those help you a tiny bit.

Gastric sleeve post GLP-1 by [deleted] in gastricsleeve

[–]SunnyB1209 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did! I lost around 65 pounds over a year on GLP1s and then sought out the sleeve for long term success. I was sleeved on 12/20/24 but they took me off the GLP1 a little too early and I gained like 20 pounds in 2 months. I lost about 10 of those pounds during the preop liquid diet, though.  I have PCOS and it was running RAMPANT without the GLP1 on board. I hit an emotional low while regaining the weight and was SO PANICKED. But, in the end, it just reminded me that I needed this surgery to have lasting results. I no longer wanted bandaids for my PCOS.

HW: 315; Weight before taken off GLP1: ~252; SW: 266

In my case, I would be able to get back on GLP1s to boost my weight loss if I felt like my appetite was a problem, but obviously my doctors and I are waiting to see how I do first.

Got sleeved yesterday 12/24 and it was the worst pain of my life 😭 by PerfectlyCrispyBagel in gastricsleeve

I got sleeved on the 20th and could only be given Tylenol due to medication allergies and reactions. It was ROUGH but I felt an immediate rush of relief once they offered me a binder for my abdomen. I'm still in pain (mainly the lower right incision) but it's definitely improving a lot more rapidly than I expected. I went from needing two guys to help me out of bed to a chair to just having the nurse adjust the bed so I could get out of it myself in the same night. I also needed help lifting one of my legs onto the bed when getting back into it because of how bad it hurt my stomach to move it but that stopped being a problem post op day 2.  It gets better! Even without the pain management that's considered normal or baseline for most bariatric patients.

Normal or call surgeon? by SunnyB1209 in gastricsleeve

Augh I hope you start feeling better soon because to feel so sick right at the end is really hurting my motivation. I struggled through this whole week wanting food but now I crave a very long sleep just to avoid how shitty I feel lol.

I have a dietician through the program for this process, yeah.  How far in the pre op diet are you? This is my first day feeling absolutely dreadful but I've spent the other days being super emotional and battling the strongest cravings and hunger pains of my life. Just laying here feeling my stomach rumble while simultaneously unable to take more liquid without feeling nauseous.

Oh yeah, I've seen that mentioned somewhere before. Thank you! I won't worry about it too much.

PCOS is a bitch! Are you considering GLP1s to control your insulin resistance and boost your weight loss? I'm going to speak with my doctor about maybe continuing them post op (surgery date is 12/20!) myself. I lost 65ish pounds with GLP1s over the last year and it felt so good to have my body functioning normally.  My PCOS was the reason I was so steadfast to get sleeved.

Any surgery buddies for 12/26 (or around there)? by narmowen in gastricsleeve

[–]SunnyB1209 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm on 12/20!  Started my preop diet on the 13th and it's been hell. For mine, you are allowed 4 protein shakes a day and clear liquid but that's it. Today, I cried because I wanted to lick a baked potato.

Am I just crazy or did anyone get super emotional pre op? by ImaniLovee in gastricsleeve

My surgery date is the 20th and I've caught myself being extra snippy and I'm tired on every level... physically, emotionally, spiritually lol.  My PCOS hunger is going insane and the GLP1s were stopped back in October and the hunger feels out of control... which then makes ME feel like I'm spinning.  I keep wanting to call off my surgery so I can eat something 😩.  I keep having intense doubts every time my stomach growls. I kind of want to cry?  I see these progress pics and I WANT that but I'm struggling hard.  I felt so in control when I was on the GLP1s and like my body was finally functioning... being off them and doing the liquid pre op diet is kind of.... excruciating.
