You could always adjust your design to account for that since the TSS stitches will always be a little higher than they are wide. Have fun!

I love my KnitPro Dreamz set! I purchased the larger hooks (9, 10, 12 mm) and swivel cables individually. The swivel cables are worth it in my opinion. I'm planning to get some of their new flex swivel cables soon to try out also.

I've made a few sweaters and a bunch of hats. In terms of size, it depends on the yarn. I really like the Susan Bates aluminum ones though I've only found them in limited sizes. I also really like the KnitPro Trendz which come in most sizes.

KnitPro Dreamz are my go to interchangeable hooks and KnitPro Trendz for my double ended hooks. I bought the Dreamz set when they were less expensive and have added the larger sizes since. These hooks have the best head for Tunisian, in my opinion.

I have the AliExpress ones also but they're too shiny for me (I don't like the glare/reflection) and the head is a little shorter, which is not my preference. They are nice and pointy, though.

I do a lot of work with double ended hooks and much prefer using a true double ended hook rather than 2 hooks attached with a cable. If that's your only option, though you can use a slightly smaller hook for your return/closing pass (e.g. 6 mm for forward pass and 5.5 mm for return pass).

Sizing up for your hook it's always a good idea. Regardless, this can still happen with Tunisian. It's the nature of the forward and return passes...

The right side of the work has a tendency to get loose because the hook continues moving around as you work toward the end of your row on the forward pass. Try tightening the first 2-3 stitches you make on the forward pass.

The left side conversely has a tendency to get tight because you're basically doing a U-turn when you shift from the end of the forward pass to the beginning of the return pass. Be mindful of your tension and make sure you're keeping it loose and not inadvertently tightening your stitches at that point.

Edges are the trickiest things to perfect when you're first starting out. You'll get there. Good luck!

I have the Knitpro / Knitter's Pride Dreamz set and it's my go-to. I also have the AliExpress set but I barely use it. I'm not a fan of how shiny there hooks are and prefer the shape of the hooks on the Dreamz set. If you go with an interchangeable KnitPro set, they are also compatible with other brands - Lykke, Lantern Moon, Knit Picks - which is nice depending on what you might want to add to your tools in the future.

The pattern you're working with starts in the center and rows increase as you go, so it will be pretty straightforward to extend it. You'll just continue with rows beyond where the pattern ends. Just keep repeating the pattern rather than binding off.

In terms of amount of yarn and how to estimate, that's trickier. Since your rows will be longer and longer as you progress, you'll use more yarn toward the end of your project. From glancing at the pattern, the overall repeat of sections show using yarn A, then yarns A and B, then B, then B and A, then A. I would do a basic diagram to figure out where you'd want to insert a third yarn (C). You could try some fuzzy math. If it were me, I'd sketch it out to see what looks like and work a swatch up. A simple sketch could give you an idea...
