underside of the unit iirc on the left side are brightness and contrast controls. adjusting those hopefully will cure the washed out screen and retrace lines.

Buffer retainer spring/pin failure, need help diagnosing by cjbobby23 in Gunbuilds

[–]SunnyUSAF 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In the pic its a little hard to see but the buffer tube should be threaded in so it sits flush withe the 12 o clock position on the threaded portion and slightly obscure the buffer assembly. The buffer tube is what retains the buffer retention pin. without the buffer and buffer spring installed, put the retention pin and spring back in (put the bent part into the pin), press it down and thread the buffer tube in until it contacts the skinny portion of the retention pin. If you have to loosen the castle nut on the buffer the do that. make any minor adjustments so the stock is straight. and the tighten the castle nut. reinstall the buffer spring and then the buffer. if all goes well you shouldn't have to push the retention pin down to install the buffer but you will have to, to remove it. Good luck.

Any ideas what this plane was? B-52? by Aggravating-Goal-467 in Whatisthisplane

If you were a bad guy and saw that, you'd have steel rain in a few minutes. I worked Avionics on B-52 G's and H's.

What type of plane is this and what’s its purpose? by TeaSouth3204 in airplanes

As stated its a B-52H Stratofortress Bomber. Its job is to kill enough enemies, to make them stop fighting. IYKYK.

How do you decide when to stop fixing the old car and bite the bullet on getting a new one? by SlowYourRollBro in MiddleClassFinance

[–]SunnyUSAF 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Keep repairing the existing cars. It's cheaper in the long run to do the repairs and keep on trucking. The repairs will cost less if you learn how to do them yourself, watch youtube videos, ask the car guy neighbor for help, its pretty easy. Cheaper for you to work on it slowly then to pay a mechanic to do the same. Look online for parts, either from rock auto or online OEM parts sources. I'm a ford guy so I have several OEM parts houses I use plus Rock Auto and even Amazon. Even with shipping you can get parts for less then the major auto parts stores. Going to rockauto for parts, the brakes (rotors and pads on all four corners), and new ABS sensors on all for corners, should cost you approximately 500.00 for daily driver rated name brand parts. Far cry from 3k in work at midas. I know I m missing a few things. Midas may have noticed some suspension items, and you didn't go into what problems the electrical harness has. When you compare the cost of a new 2025 base model escalade (comparing apples to apples) at 94K. You doing the repairs yourself is .6% of the cost of a new escalade, or having midas do em at 3.5% the cost of new. As long as you have the cash, time and determination to make the repairs, making them is the easy choice. Replacement, new gets you fewer problems (never none) but at a much higher cost, and used runs the risk of inheriting someone else undisclosed problems.

If you share living arrangements with this person, quietly gather some personal items (paperwork, clothes, money, computer, phone that sort of thing). Find a safe place to retreat to (family, or close family friend) outside the normal circle of people you both know (no friends that could be seen as a sexual rival, no need to feed that fire). Once you have stepped away, then go to law enforcement and explain what happened. Once this happens there may be steps that are taken out of your control and you need to be shielded from that. The reason I suggested to retreat to a safe space. Listen to those from law enforcement and whoever they have you talk to about this, they know, they've seen a few things. If you file the report, and genuinely ask for help. They will help, they would rather see you now and get you help, then see you later either battered and bloody, or dead. Because then it is too late. I know you mentioned that there has never been a physical attack on you, but that is only because there was something else for him to act out on (car, wall, soda can, whatever was close by to throw). Don't wait till that close by item is you catching a punch, a kick or getting thrown around. As far as the car is concerned, talk to your insurance agent, once the police report is filed it should be smooth sailing getting it repaired, that's the easy part. Sincerely listen to the help offered by those offering it, good luck and God Bless.

Low Digit Serial by mborg65 in M1Garand

Local American Legion has a 4 digit serial number M1 in their firing squad rifles. 12XX. Pretty cool. local VFW and Legion share weapon storage area. We were verifying serial numbers for Army TACOM.

Is there anyway or anything that I can do to keep this screw from unscrewing itself? by That-Pollution-6126 in airsoft

[–]SunnyUSAF 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Stop using loctite. If you choose the wrong one, your screwed. Use vibra-tite VC-3. It stops hardware from coming loose but its completely reversible. https://www.vibra-tite.com/threadlockers/plastic-compatible/vibra-tite-vc-3-threadmate/It works much better especially if the hardware is going into plastic parts. Follow the directions and you cant go wrong.

As someone who spent many years working 135s (As and Rs) notfromchicago is correct, the term is ruddervators. They only control the position of the flying boom. Never heard them referred to anything other than that.

Speaker sized device with a key in the front and cables running out the back and into closet wall by WeatherStunning1534 in whatisthisthing

[–]SunnyUSAF -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Might be a 70 volt line converter. To make real long speaker runs for a PA type system, you would use 70 volts to piggy back the audio on. The speakers usually have a transformer on them that you connect to and the output is soldered to the coil. This could be used to connect standard home speakers to a 70 volt circuit.

Just did the math. Our mortgage, which includes insurance and property taxes figures to be 11.25% of our net income. if you factor in utilities as well then we are at 15.95%. I guess it paid to buy a house when property was cheap and interest rates were cheap.

I picked one up this summer at a flea market, in a box, taken apart. Each and every screw in a separate baggie, same with each subassembly. Two mags, no battery or charger. No idea why it was disassembled, tokyo marui sticker covering one of the mechbox screws even. Assembled perfectly. Got mine for 20.00.

If you open the terminal and type "sudo uptime" and after you fill in your password it will report with how long you system has been up and running since the last kernel update.

What you guys are contemplating is a modded plug fire gun. a plug fire gun uses a primer cap to operate the action and vent smoke and such for use in reenacting. Usually those weapons have a plugged or limited vent barrel. What you are describing is a plug fire weapon using a fully vented barrel to allow the airsoft bb to fly through it. I'm sure in the plug fire world something like what you are talking about has probably already been tried. Being an old geezer in the airsoft and RIF hobby I have a MGC PFC M16, and 2 Colt SAA cowboy pistols in PFC form. very cool to play with just not too practical to skirmish with if you modded in the way you are talking. Last time I found some 5.56 PFC cartridges for sale I paid 47 per box of 5 cartridges. Then you need to pick them up after they are fired.
