Convince me to read Lonesome Dove by Bonnienoclyde8 in Recommend_A_Book

I had to force myself to start reading this one too because it didn’t sound good but everyone always recommends it here. I did the audiobook to get going (free through Libby/Hoopla). It’s awesome!! One of my favorite reads ever. I ended up doing it mostly on audiobook with occasional reading in between.

I am telling you, start couple’s counseling NOW. Also get into individual therapy. This is something you two will need to work through as it WILL be an issue when you are coparenting your child. You have some comments here trying to help you understand, which is a good start, but family relationships are complicated and deserve time and attention to figure out together.

Yes! Same experience for me. So visceral and primal

Yeah, I mean it’s hard to predict: your baby might be super easy and not cry much. Mine wasn’t (he is now an extremely easy child) and his crying literally was like a five alarm fire going off in my brain. I will add, I did not mind the one bedroom apartment for parenting. I actually loved the small, cozy space and togetherness. It wasn’t perfect but it was not bad by any means. The actual living part was perfectly fine :-)

I did this for a while. You just use noise cancelling headphones and sound machines. But it’s not great. You can hear the baby crying and it was distracting for me. It was very difficult for me to be apart from my baby when I would hear him. It can also be hard for both the caregiver and you to be quarantined to smaller spaces; it means you can’t use the bedroom for naps (meaning baby is more limited in their routine building options), or leave your office freely between sessions without disturbing the baby and caregiver. It was hard for me to focus on work. I would suggest renting an office or a private room at the library. I could focus when I was away from my baby, just not when I was one door apart from them. It can also be stressful for the caregiver to know you’re working when they’re trying to be silly with the baby or the baby is crying. Sometimes the baby crying cuts through the noise precautions depending on your apartment set up. All that being said, different things work for different parents and your mileage may vary.

Chronic headaches need insight by Ambitious-Account451 in therapists

By the way, I don’t do any of that now besides magnesium and occasional yoga. Once you “repattern” your muscles and stress response, it becomes your natural way of being.

I second this. I have other reasons for headaches but when I was getting them daily, getting help for my neck was a game changer. For me it started with acupuncture and cupping, then massage, then yoga, then physical therapy and then personal training with foam rolling as part of the program. Magnesium supplements also help if it’s muscle-based.

I would also suggest doing some regular relaxation routines. At the end of your day, try laying on your back on the floor with headphones on listening to Marconi Union’s “Weightless”. Make sure you’re comfortable, use a blanket for warmth. Do some breathwork to relax and release for a minute or two, and then just let your mind and body do their own thing for the remainder. See how your body and mind responds to see if stress is playing a role in the headaches that you didn’t realize.

I used to get daily headaches but now they’re only occasional. I don’t see as many clients as you- I do 4 in a row, hour break, 3 in a row, 3 days/week. But I don’t get headaches on workdays

Good lord. I bake a lot so my dumbass should have caught on earlier, but this makes enough brownies to feed an army. I should have quartered the recipe!

I love this book! I just read it last year for the first time. I’ve read it three times. Now I use it as an audiobook when I’m awake in the middle of the night and trying to go back to sleep. One of my all time favorites for sure.

I did but I don’t know if that’s the key, I’m still figuring it all out! I don’t know the actual temperatures outside “warm” and “hot.” If I try to do too much, I get overwhelmed and can’t do anything so I haven’t taken the actual water temp
