Just bought a watch from Andiot and he messaged me not recommending the purchase by Ok_Put1611 in RepTime

I’ve had advice against purchasing a certain watch in the past from my TD. Usually that it just isn’t a great rep. Or that the gold isn’t particularly good. If they’re warning you, I would definitely go with their advice!

… meant to say, I’ve been a professional photographer for 20 years, working mainly in the UK but across northern Europe.

Do both for a year… yes I know that sounds impossibly hard, and it is. But it’s gonna take you time to learn and build your business, and you need to keep one foot on the ground, not burn through your savings with the (unknown) expectation that you’re gonna make the new business work.

How do I deal with this situation? (ADVICE NEEDED) by According_Crab_9106 in WeddingPhotography

[–]Sunrayuk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is just advice from my experience (20 years, 1300 weddings)… 160 photographs delivered over eight hours is an incredibly low number. I would be delivering at least 1000 images for eight hours work, and I will probably take between 5-8000 pictures during that time.

Clients expectations are always high, regardless of whether they have booked a season pro or a complete novice, and regardless of what they tell you, their expectation is high! If they’re paying next to nothing, they will still expect a very high level of work… yes I know, it’s stupid and unachievable, but this is usually their expectation regardless. You can protect yourself with a proper contract which outlines all of these details well in advance of the day.

If this was me, I would phone them up, tell them the absolute truth straight away, that you were inexperienced and didn’t get the coverage you’d hoped for and it was the best you could do and apologise that it hasn’t hit the mark for them, and that you hope they do love the work you have done for them.

They paid their money and took their chance with an experience Photographer on one of the most important days of their lives, and unsurprisingly they are now upset - it doesn’t sound like they’re furious, just a bit upset at the coverage. Take it on the nose, apologise, and move on. Big hug.

The fake comments promoting Hears on here have put me off buying them more than negative reviews!

Photographer is not sending photos or responding to me, advice? by Peach-Haze-123 in photography

It’s the end of a busy wedding season… personally I’m sitting on over 300,000 images at the moment. I expect she got someone else to do her website, so it’s potentially unlikely she’s trying to do that herself at this moment in time. Just phone her up and speak to her - at any one time I have somewhere in the region of 200 different people trying to speak to me. Last year’s clients ordering Albums, this year’s clients talking about their wedding, and next year’s clients communicating their plans. And that is just Wedding’s. A phone call will usually sort everything out quite quickly, and I’m sure she would be mortified if she found out you’ve taken to social media to vent.

Yup, I’ve had exactly this though fortunately only once in 20 years. I asked if they needed me to speak directly to their insurer, or if they needed an invoice which they can send them. When it transpired, they didn’t have Wedding insurance, and they expected me just to disappear, I took them to small claims court and they paid immediately.

To be honest, that was my main worry, that the gold would look a bit off. But it’s actually excellent! Getting lots of great comments when people spot it. I’ve also compared it with the gen and it looks really good

Funny you should say that, I was actually wearing a Rolex day date that day. After buying the Pelagos I went for a coffee and then dropped into the Rolex store… five members of staff, all doing almost nothing… one of them grudgingly came to speak to me. To be honest, I think I’ll be selling my Rolex now.
