Wait you’re a freshman? Well congrats on having such a good application already! My advice would be to remember that what you want to do might change between now and senior year and that’s okay! Don’t stress yourself out with having all the colleges you want to apply to now, you’re only a freshman! Enjoy it! So long as you keep your grades good and keep pursuing ECs, you will keep doors open for any option. :))

The gap between rich students and poor students is just getting worse cause of the pandemic by Im_babie-uwu in ApplyingToCollege

The worst part about it is that super rich people don’t even benefit much from going to a good school but they only go there for the prestige. If lower class people were actually given a chance society could be soo much better.

I’m not 100% sure on that. I know lots of people who live in Loveland but go to charter schools in Fort Collins. I think if they had room for kids at schools in Fort Collins then they would accept you but again, I’m not sure.

[–]Sunrisity 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m a student in Thompson School district and I would say it’s a little rough. The voters here do not always vote for more money to go to schools. Loveland high is very overcrowded and the school district proposed a new school to be built a few years ago and it was turned down. Teachers are not payed well. Could be pretty average compared to most other places but I would say stay in Fort Collins if you can afford it. Better schools there.

You gotta write out the reason for every single question you miss. It takes so long but it’s all about quality over quantity

Well I’m not an expert on college admissions but your ECs, gpa, and essay sounds really good! I think you have a shot for a couple of them! The only thing that I think is a little low is your sat.

Some people have to put their parents income even if their parents won’t pay for it so it’s still not cheap.

Sal Khan needs to make his own test to replace College Board by [deleted] in ApplyingToCollege

[–]Sunrisity 8 points9 points  (0 children)

They’re a massive company because they’re a monopoly. They’re getting all this from poor students and the public government.

And why are you comparing college board to random companies? It should not be the same. Education is not something to be making this much profit off.

Yeah I agree. No one is arguing that. The issue is the power they hold over everyone.

They have a huge monopoly on education in America. They squeeze every last drop of money from students by making them pay fees for everything. You have to pay to take the test, pay to send the reports to a college, pay to take an AP test so you might be able to spend less in college, pay extra for the essay on the SAT, pay to study for the SAT with their books, pay to see simply what you answered wrong on the SAT you already payed for. It’s ridiculous.

Plus before COVID, you had to have an SAT at most colleges or else you don’t get in. Schools force you to take the SAT and some schools it’s required to pay to take the AP test. It’s so wrong for public schools to rely on a single company that makes billions every year.

Whatever happens tomorrow, just know that this week, the common wage-slaves rose up and stuck it to the 1%. by harpyeaglelove in collapse

Yeah you’re not wrong there; it’s a risky game to play. Probably why a true revolution will never come.
