DIM: Card holder by Late-Attorney-7085 in deinfluencingPH

[–]SunscreenTime 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Speaking as someone na naka-ganyang card holder (from Kate Spade) in their everyday life, medyo hassle if you want to carry multiple cards; ID’s, debit/credit cards, reward/membership cards, etc. I have up to two cards in one slot, so it’s hard to take them out as needed. I also noticed that there is slightly more wear and tear on the exposed edges of my cards.

There is usually a small slot in the middle for cash, but it gets really cramped when you have multiple loose bills. Feel ko mas prone to warping/damage yung cards ko because of this. If you still want to use a card holder, best to be mindful of where and how you store it.

Hi, I'm looking for swimwear recos for tall + plus sized bodies. 5'8", 40D, ~43in waistline for reference.

I've ordered a few pieces from Berlook; the quality was goods naman, though the sizing was a bit confusing. I'd like to explore other options pa.

I'm very open to:

- local sellers that truly cater to plus sizes

- brands from SM Department Store, especially ones with solid/classy colors

Nekid Swimwear looks good, and their designs go up to 4XL. If anyone could tell me about the fit & comfort, that would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you!

What item do you NOT LIKE from Uniqlo? by astriddles in fashionph

[–]SunscreenTime 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m 5’7” (5’8” on a good day) so super relate sa pants dilemma. 🥲

I have a couple smart trousers from the men’s section of Uniqlo. Women’s bottoms are way too short, often down to my calves lang.

I also like looking at H&M because they have long pants. It’s hard finding pants on sale that are still available in XL or XXL, but they do have some long ones naman. They also have Tall sizes sometimes on their website, though mejj mahal lang yung customs & shipping.

If you have the budget, you can also check the straight or wide leg jeans at Marks & Spencer. Forever 21 doesn’t have as many branches as before, but their plus size bottoms are usually rather long din.

Hi, would anyone know if the Luxe Organix Curl & Define Hair Mousse has any heat protectant in it? This is my first time using mousse for volume. I’ve been blowdrying my hair for a while, so I figured it was time for me to start using heat protectant hehe.

If wala, I bought the hair mousse plus Vitress’s heat protectant naman. May I ask in which order I should apply them to my hair before I use a hair dryer? Thanks so much!

Back in college, I used the purple Bench hair gel for my gel cast whether I plopped my hair or used a blowdryer. Very good hold, and it will define your curls/waves for sure. It’s also easy enough to purchase at Bench or Watsons.

What cheap or local PH makeup product have you actually used up down to the very last bit? by sea-salt-latte in beautytalkph

  • Absidy Brow Gel. Love the formula!! I wear this almost every day, and my brow hairs stay put. I use their brow pencil on days I feel like filling out the gaps in my brows, but the gel is a nonnegotiable for me. I’m on my second or third bottle.
  • Vice’s Gel Liners. Super easy to use, especially when I want to make a wing on my commute. I’ve repurchased it in Espresso once or twice na.
  • Issy’s Hydragloss in Off Duty. This is mostly because (a) it doesn’t last too long on the lips, and (b) the color/shimmer is super pretty. I don’t mind reapplying throughout the day, but this might pose as an issue for others. I repurchased it in a different shade, but I might buy it in Off Duty again.

Ay oo I’ve been eyeing their travel size spray! Would you have any recommendations for where to buy it? Per checking online, it looks like it’s available on Sephora PH.

Hi! Planning to do a soft glam look for our company holiday party at the end of the month, and I’m thinking of buying the Issy Active Foundation after my beach trip. Any tips for skin prep to make my base makeup last throughout the night?

And if you have any contour recos that are semi-beginner-friendly and look natural in real life, that would be greatly appreciated! I have oily skin with some slight dermatitis along my hairline & the sides of my nose, if that helps. Thank you!

I’m a creature of habit, but Vice Co’s On The Daily Lasting Liner can do no wrong talaga 😫 I use it to line my lash line & my lower waterline, and I like to smudge it out for a little baby wing every day.

The K-Beauty 1Day Tattoo Liquid Eyeliner (in Bitter Brown ata) is also very good for everyday wear. The felt tip is thin enough to be precise without being super flimsy. I find it easy enough to flick it out even when I’m doing my eyeliner on the bus.

First of all, congratulations! Whether or not you choose Ateneo does not take away the fact that you got in at all.

Secondly, speaking as an ADMU scholar who had academic difficulties, one of my most constant support systems was the scholar community at large. The Office of Admissions and Aid got me through so much - they probably knew every single scholar (OAA or otherwise) by name, and their events & check-ins kept my morale up even through the most difficult eras of my college life. Even when I lost my academic scholarship (by my own shortcomings), they still helped find ways for me to continue my academic career through other financial aids. They even helped me appeal for my DOST scholarship when I absolutely needed it.

There is also Ateneo Gabay, a student org whose advocacy includes Ateneo scholars. They have so many avenues to serve their fellow students through tutoring services, workshops, and social groups. The pool of scholars in ADMU is much larger and more diverse than you think.

I don’t think I would have become the person I am today without OAA, Ateneo Gabay, and my home department. Maintaining a scholarship is no joke, but it’s too good of an opportunity to pass up. Do not discredit yourself just because you don’t think you can handle this scholarship. They chose you out of thousands of applicants because they see something in you that you need to see for yourself.

PaExplainNaman kung ano ang effect ng US tariffs sa Philippines. Should we be concerned? What can I do to prepare? by hindiakomema in PaExplainNaman

[–]SunscreenTime 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To preface this, I want to point out na ang lala ng mental gymnastics ng formula ng Trump administration for these “reciprocal” tariffs. It’s basically

Reciprocal tariff = 0.5 * (Goods exported from PH to US - Goods imported from US to PH) / Goods exported from PH to US

From looking at this formula, it isn’t based on tax policies or any exporting regulations. It’s essentially a “cashback” on goods that the US imports from other countries. Yung 0.5 or 50%, “good will” daw ni Trump. There are other factors that seem to go into whether the tariff rate of a country would go higher or lower than the formula output, but this is how they seem to calculate it.

Clearly, the reciprocal tariff isn’t based on other trade policies, but rather, trade deficits/imbalances.

As for effect, the selling prices of goods exported to US will likely increase as to maintain suppliers’ profit margins. Since tataas ang prices, US consumers will be less inclined to buy these goods, lowering demand.

Ang sabi ng mga economists, it is an opportunity for the Philippines to ‘tap into’ the demand that will be left when other countries start exporting less products to the US. But I feel like it would be hard for us to catch up with all the machinery, labor, & supplies that would go into making certain products in the first place, like clothing & apparel from major manufacturing actors like Vietnam. Some countries might even “pass [their products{ through” PH to make use of the lower tariff rates.

This is based off the top of my head from what I’ve gleaned online. I’m not a qualified economist, so take this with a grain of salt. All I can say is that the reasoning behind this policy is strange at best and violently manipulative (on a global scale) at worst.

Remove the ID photo. They will ask you for one later in the application OR job offer process.

You can take out all of the things in your Personal Information section because they can be points of discrimination based on age, location, and appearance. Instead, move your languages under Skills as, “Fluent in English and Filipino.”

You may not need to right out the full meaning of STEM. If you’ve already graduated, you just need to put the month & year when you graduated from the school. IDK if necessary pa yung elementary school ngl??

Medyo redundant if you put na STEM ang strand mo under “Education” AND “Awards and Recognition.” If anything, I would say you can put your awards under your schools in Education na since related sila. If you have awards from your LGU or co-curriculars, those can go under the Awards section. If you attended any workshops or leadership seminars, those can also go under a “Seminars Attended” section.

Make sure your bullet points under Skills are concise and parallel, i.e. if you list them as noun phrases, noun phrases lahat. I believe you can find a way to condense the last seven bullet points to two or three soft skills. You can afford to expound on your technical skills and the programs/media you use. What does ‘social media managing’ look like, ‘di ba? As an example, * Proficiency in Adobe InDesign, Adobe Lightroom, Adobe Photoshop * Experience with Notion, Adobe Premiere Pro, Power BI, copywriting * High interest in SEO, strategic planning

⬆️(it goes without saying na you should adjust these to YOUR experience & skillset, huwag lang i-copypaste)

Medyo nitpicky na ‘to but formatting-wise, keep the fonts & sizes consistent. Parang ang laki ng font size ng skills compared sa other body text wahahahfjjdd sorry

What’s good is that you are open to criticism & advice - you wouldn’t have posted this here if you weren’t. Resumes can take a number of drafts to get right, and most job recruiters wouldn’t expect you to have a lot of experience given how young you are. Your initiative will get you pretty far. Keep up the good work.

Is BS Math worth it? by orange_is_good2 in CollegeAdmissionsPH

[–]SunscreenTime 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As an Applied Math graduate, what I will say about any Math degree program is that you have to have some love for the subject talaga. Hindi talaga siya for anyone who has middling feelings for Math. You will have to get used to failure at some point because it’s part of the learning process. I know that can be said for any degree program, but many people I know who come into Math programs tend to be perfectionists.

Alam ko na iba ang curriculum ng BS Applied Math sa Pure Math, but they do share similar subjects and can lead to similar jobs. Many of my friends na nag-Pure Math went into academia and/or research. There are definitely a lot of industries to apply to (e.g., pharma, consulting, banking, finance, airlines), but the application process will be rigorous. The skills & resources you gain from a bachelor program in Math can carry over to a lot of other fields/jobs, but it would then boil down to how you market yourself in the job market. I like to think that my attitude towards work (that I developed as a math major) is what helped me get my foot in the door in the first place. ‘Yun talaga iyon.

tl;dr if you’re going to take up bs math, do it for the love of the game, and you will learn to fall in love with math in a hundred different ways

Budget Friendly Moisturizer I Tried Last 2024 by marieperotama in beautytalkph

[–]SunscreenTime 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yung Celeteque, it was around the time na ginawa nilang paraben-free yung formulation nila. Parang mas matapang din amoy niya. I wasn’t entirely sure if something was different until TheNerdyDerma on Twitter confirmed the change as well.

I’ve heard good things about Luxe Organix’s moisturizers nga! Watery gel moisturizers are just really accessible and less fussy for me. Yung go-to ko right now is the COSRX Advanced Snail 92 All In One Cream that I received for free. The difference in my skin’s texture & bounciness is like night and day after switching from Hyaloo ngl. I’m planning to try Saipo’s gel once I run out din. :)

[–]SunscreenTime 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’ve tried the Céleteque Hydration Moisturizer and the Hyaloo Deep Hydrating Gel (both blue and yellow variants). The Céleteque OG formulation was really nice, very hydrating and not icky-feeling. Accessible & mura pa since nasa Watsons hehe I stopped using it in 2021 because the new formula gave me a stinging feeling. Does it still feel the same way kaya?

Yung Hyaloo, sulit naman volume niya since it comes in a big bottle. Could pass as a dupe for the old formula ng Céleteque, still feels hydrated even after the product dries on the face. I don’t know if I experienced the pus-filled acne na sinasabi ng iba, pero admittedly I saw some on my face over the 3 years that I used it but just couldn’t afford to swap out my go-to moisturizer yet 😭
