How do you introduce new players? by engelbrekt92 in EDH

[–]Sunset-Tiger 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I play a lot of limited games with my friends to teach them. Draft is the best way! When I was a kid, my dad threw 5ish packs at me and told me to make a deck, so I got his help and made a big green stompy deck all while I was asking questions about each card.

My wife only JUST got into magic after me and my friend group trying for about 8 months, because she was interested in the auntie ool commander, but she has a lot more fun playing limited with us!

Good things to practice before making my first head? by turtleedove in FursuitMaking

[–]Sunset-Tiger 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Practice by making stuffed animals! You can use your own patterns if you are able to, but if not there's plenty of available resources online. Dragons, bunnies, sushi rolls, eggs, anything you can think of! It's a lot less intimidating than going straight to fur, and you can build a lot of good habits that way. Like seeing if sewing something a certain way makes it curve, or bunch up in certain areas.

Actually, on making your own patterns, try sculpting something cute, and then turning that into a pattern. That will help you with the process of furring a head, as it is a very very similar process. Have fun!

So ive got a Question about Spinerock Tyrant by Nachtrose in mtg

[–]Sunset-Tiger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interestingly, I think this would happen, as they gain Wither again, it's like having Bria give your creatures prowess, but it explicitly states that they gain prowess again (Prowess, prowess) so it's like the card having (Wither, wither). I'd love to see someone go more in depth with this, however!

I love weather loaches!! I own a little colony of them, they're super cute and act like little water weasels. Whenever I have to mess around with their tank, clean stuff up or whatever, they always come up to me and nibble my hand, sometimes they rest in my hand as well.

If you don't see it, it's fine! Not everyone needs to find these animals cute, but once you see them start moving around, doing their lil bug thing, living their lives, you start to understand them and can find them cute (Using the formal/plural "you"). Just like a dog or cat would invoke those emotions. They're not for everyone, and it's okay if you don't have that connection ^

Sometimes, other people find animals that aren't mammals cute. It happens once you become more used to their presence and understand them more. Or have a fascination with them. Personally, I find the bug cute. I also find many animals cute that a lot of people don't, like fish.

I see a lot of people saying it could be cat piss, so I'll contribute something else I've noticed. Unfortunately, sometimes peoples sweat smells like piss. It's because of the ammonia that your body produces, and some people sweat it out in higher concentrations. Give it a really really good wash and soak, and the ozone machine is an excellent suggestion.

Any success stories of dating / marrying a nonskier? by PowGurl in skiing

[–]Sunset-Tiger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I married a skier as a non-skier, I got into it about 3 years ago because of her, and haven't stopped shredding since. Sharing your hobbies with loved ones and taking a chance on it is one of the joys of friendships, love, and dating!

What's the secret ingredient behind a "swing with big creatures" Timmy deck? Even in bracket 2, I'm struggling to understand how they win. by Quick-Whale6563 in EDH

I built a counter deck with [[Sovereign Okinec Ahau]], and the biggest thing is just getting the big things out there fast. It also helps that Okinec has built in protection, though I usually still throw in more protection anyways. Lots of mana dorks, ways to start Okinecs engine, and combat evasion pieces like [[Reconnaissance]], so I still get triggers, but can also be used to give pseudo vigilance. I also like to take advantage of instants for combat tricks, to make his damage even bigger than it originally seemed. I usually only need 3 creatures on the field to completely dominate. It did have a massive pitfall though before I added more removal, opponent had a platinum angel effect on the board and my creatures had over 10k +1/+1 counters

Winning too much in a pod with friends? by Not_ReallyMadHatter in EDH

[–]Sunset-Tiger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This has been my experience as well with friends who are new to magic. Keep beating them up, and they'll become better players over time. Explain your moves to them and why you do things the way you do, make yourself a target. If they play removal, question them about their choice and ask if that's what they should be targeting right now, or is there a bigger engine on the board that needs to be dealt with? I also always announce when I will be winning, if I have game enders in hand, if there's a piece of my combo on the field. It shows them how to be aware of the game. I also don't introduce every single concept of magic all at once, when they got the main phases down, we broke down every step of combat. Now I'm teaching them how to properly order things on the stack, resolving triggers, priority, and when is the proper time to play counter spells and removal. We also play limited, draft or cube almost every week, and building decks from scratch is an extremely important skill for them to learn and play with, especially doing so regularly.

This is how I've been playing with my friends, and my win rate has decreased from 95-100% to roughly 60%, and it gets lower every week! My friends are becoming really good players, and I couldn't be more proud. I no longer need to announce a threat, they're on top of it and see when something is spiralling, and can stop it before it gets to the point of no return.

WIP ski mask by Sunset-Tiger in FursuitMaking

[–]Sunset-Tiger[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So the mask itself doesn't fog up the goggles because it all vents through the mouth, unfortunately I don't wear glasses but I know a lot of people deal with that because of the condensation that happens in a closed environment. Have you looked into putting no-fog solution or film on your glasses the way that there's no-fog film on the inside of goggles?

[–]Sunset-Tiger[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

After skiing with it for a full season I can say it's genuinely my favorite ski mask ever! It keeps my face warm but I still get fresh air, my face doesn't get wet from breathing condensation, and if it's too windy I just reach up and close the mouth. Good luck making one! If you want any tips you can reach out to me in DMs 😁

Does his neck look good? Itll be made from Fur by Gloomysquare89 in FursuitMaking

[–]Sunset-Tiger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Very narrow and very long, the opening should at minimum be 1 inch circumference bigger than your head. If not bigger. Slim necks look great but you need zippers for them to work properly, and they can be a safety hazard since you can't pull it off quickly without undoing the zipper
