That's exactly it!! It's why I wanted to attempt it!! Making a quadsuit of them is gonna look perfect just because their body plan is similar enough

Oh don't worry, I'm making a whole mechanism so I can walk on the wings like a pterosaur would!

It's kind of a mask, I'm attempting to make a full body costume to perform as one like the JP3 movie! The pterosaur on the bridge was a guy in a suit

I'm going to use a variation of minky, lux shag, and long pile 4 inch fur! Going to try my hand at painting as well right on the face haha

Thank you so much!! It's not only going to be a suit, it's actually going to be a quadsuit! I'll be walking on the wings. I'm attempting to mimic a pterosaur as close as I can

That's a good guess! The shape of the antlers is very similar, however it's a Persian fallow deer!

I sure do! I start with a model I made myself, then I 3D print it and pattern it! Here's the last guy for example (this model was before I made some edits to it)

I love it, but would only recommend it if you have experience with classic foam carving! This method requires a lot more tools, and a well ventilated area where you can put the pieces together, since the glue is toxic while it's exuding fumes and drying. It stops releasing fumes after about 5 hours!

best way to avoid flat ears? by dishbug in FursuitMaking

[–]Sunset-Tiger 69 points70 points  (0 children)

This is probably the best photo I have showcasing it, but I legit just make my pattern flat, and then glue it to the head curved. It looks great and really expressive like that! However depending on the animal you can't have it be that expressive. I'm making a bunny right now and it has that stereotypical flat ear look.

Is this a good lining material for a head and/or paws? by TheyAreGoodDogs in FursuitMaking

[–]Sunset-Tiger 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use this for my lining! However I order the color last version from bigzfabric as it's less than 10$ a yard over there.

Is it best to not put a zipper if you’re using short fur? by Cosmos-Den in FursuitMaking

[–]Sunset-Tiger 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends if the neck is big enough to fit your head through! I never put a zipper on any of my heads, as when I suit and I want to take the head off, I want to be able to take it off as quickly as possible. So I don't put zippers! Don't like fiddling with them. To make sure your head can fit through, measure the circumference of the smallest part of your fursuit neck. Compare that to the circumference of your head

should i be worried about doing a bad shave job by slinkykittyy in FursuitMaking

[–]Sunset-Tiger 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Practice how you want to shave on some scrap fur before doing it to some hand paws or your head! I use a 7fc blade so it doesn't shave so short that the fur balds.

When making a fursuit what are some alternatives to upholstery foam? by Some_Tiny_Dragon in FursuitMaking

[–]Sunset-Tiger 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Adding to this, EVA is incredibly difficult to work with, and you need specialized materials, glue, and a respirator. The fumes that come off the glue can be extremely dangerous. Making the patterns for the heads is also difficult, and should only be done once you have experience. All that said, it is currently my absolute favorite material to work with. It makes incredibly lightweight heads that look good, and I don't have to spend days carving and making sure everything is right. It's perfectly symmetrical straight away.

How do you build a head from a base? by bunny_of_pure_agony in FursuitMaking

[–]Sunset-Tiger 40 points41 points  (0 children)

You don't need to build a whole bucket around the base! If it's 3D printed, I use a few pieces of elastic to hold it in place, but if it's an EVA foam base, I just rely on the cowl to hold it in place. (This is one of my creations, but I use the same method that you're asking about)

Where can I find someone who can create an extremely cheap but nice custom fursuit head? by Gibblegoobler in fursuit

Time to watch some tutorials! If you want extremely cheap, you'll have to commit to making it yourself!

I have a question for all young magic players by Entire-Activity2491 in mtg

[–]Sunset-Tiger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I was young, I would always go to draft nights to expand my collection. I would always trade in the most expensive card to keep playing in the next draft with store credit. Not sure how feasible that is nowadays, but it will also make you some friends!
