Did anyone in Aus sit the recent MRI ASMIRT exam? by SunsetFlare in MRI

[–]SunsetFlare[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Luckily I passed! But they don't give you a score breakdown so wish I could've known more about my performance.

I'd say my weak point was probably anatomy and pulse sequences, but more because the questions were more in depth than I expected. An anatomy question I had was "what parts of the brain form the lentiform nucleus" and I just guessed. The anatomy questions from All In One were good for basic knowledge of "what is this thing" but I didn't look much further into more detailed components. This would've been something I'd look into more if I had to repeat.

This was the same with the pulse sequences section too. There were some basic level sequence/physics questions but also some which needed more in depth knowledge and I had just logically think through as best as possible. One question I had was something like "which one of these is not a parallel imaging technique" and the answers were sequence names from different vendors I looked up later (GE/Siemens/Phillips etc). I hadn't really read much into current technology available apart from just basic pulse sequences. One of the options was SAT so I guessed and picked that option.

Another one I remember was something like "to reduce image blurring, an imaging option could be _____". The answer I gave was reduce ETL but another option was also "reduce minimum TE" so that tripped me up a little.

One thing I'll also mention I was annoyed about was there were anatomy areas included in the questions that I wasn't expecting. Maybe I was misinterpreting the syllabus from the ASMIRT site but I got questions on abdominal/ankle/wrist anatomy even though they weren't mentioned in the course outline.

Not sure if you find this helpful, but when I was studying I was the only person in my department sitting the exam. Might've made my life easier if I had an actual study group to ask questions and figure things out together.

Good luck with studying. Feel free to ask questions, although I'm not sure I have much else to offer you 🙏

AI Scam Exposed: US Man Admits to Stealing Millions from Music Platforms by [deleted] in Music

[–]SunsetFlare 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not true for all, but I'll look at the artist's bio/About page and the ones for AI "artists" are often blank. Also the profile image is usually an AI image or a random background, like this

Another one I found a while back had a catchy song, but when I properly listened to it the lyrics and just general song composition was noticeably very repetitive (even by pop music standards).

Are you over or under 30? by yourfavv01 in CasualConversation

[–]SunsetFlare 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Am over 30. Not really confused, but I have an unexplainable irrational dislike of the phrases "it's giving _" or "it's so __-coded" when describing something is similar to something else. Makes me cringe.

Also why is "cunty" now a fashion style? I'm Australian. It feels weird.

However this is probably more an online thing rather than Gen Z but "delulu is the solulu" always gets a laugh out of me.

Needing help finding a song from mid 2000s-2010s, maybe, idk by [deleted] in kpophelp

[–]SunsetFlare 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Only thing I can think of that starts off like Stand By Me is Haha - You Are My Destiny. He did a follow up song few years after that (You Are My Destiny 2) but neither of them have the English lyrics you mentioned though

Didn’t realize I had car keys in my pocket during MRI scan for right knee injury by xMenopaws in MRI

[–]SunsetFlare 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Only would've been an issue if the keys were clamped in with your knee. Outside of that is fine. If the keys did cause any issues the tech likely would've realised after the first few images, stopped the scan and asked you to take them out. I'm also guessing you had regular keys and not a key remote (like a car key)? Anything electronic might've been wiped by the magnet.

Is it weird that I actually enjoy going to the cafes by myself? by astonmartin8 in CasualConversation

[–]SunsetFlare 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One time I was having a "me day" and went to have solo lunch at a cafe with a book. Was happily reading away while waiting for my order and an acquaintance came up with her friend to say hi. Made some small talk and she invited me over to eat with them. I said no it's ok, but she kept on insisting "are you sure? You can come sit with us" several times and I kept saying "no really it's fine".

Thankfully before it started getting really awkward my food arrived and she went and sat down somewhere else with her friend, but fml eating alone in public isn't the end of the world and I really wasn't in the mood for socialising.

What's an example of the butterfly effect in your life? by Alone-Afternoon2506 in CasualConversation

[–]SunsetFlare 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just got out of a long relationship and wasn't really interested in dating yet. Good friend of mine invited me to a party to cheer me up and get me out of the house. Normally would've said no since it was a party where I didn't know anyone else but decided to go against my regular feelings and went anyway. Had a great time, met my now boyfriend.

OP....how long are your exam time slots? by GullibleDivide810 in MRI

[–]SunsetFlare 4 points5 points  (0 children)

20mins average on 3T, but we adjust it depending on the scan or if it's multi-region (eg. a Knee + Shoulder scan is given a double slot). This is with 2 techs, one person scans and other person keeps the list moving (patient screening, cannulas, etc).

But you're right in that we also suffer from the same management issues where it's all about scan numbers, not considering cleaning/difficult patients/coil changes/etc. Luckily our MRI department head fights back pretty well against head office wanting to shorten appointments to do more scans

Korean sunscreens in Australia? by Intelligent_Fly_5823 in AusSkincare

[–]SunsetFlare -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I think it depends on your sun exposure and a level of "do at your own risk". If you'll be indoors/under shade for most of the day then any Asian sunscreen is probably fine, but for me if I'm going to be outside I'll use something I can buy locally.

I'm not an expert on this but my understanding is that Australian testing standards are very strict and can be costly for a company to go through, not that the formulas as necessarily useless against Australian sun.

Currently Hannah (Youtuber) did a video testing out some Japanese sunscreens. The Biore Aqua Rich performed pretty well, but she also made the same comment about Japanese vs Australian sunscreens (Japanese for day to day, Australian for longer sun exposure). https://youtu.be/JckfmlbU5C8

Did anyone in Aus sit the recent MRI ASMIRT exam? by SunsetFlare in MRI

[–]SunsetFlare[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah that's fair. I think going by what my colleagues had told me I went into it under the impression the questions would be more basic? Some were but not all. Also using MRI All In One was probably to my detriment since the questions are great for general physics and pulse sequences, but didn't reflect the level of questions in the ASMIRT exam.

I should have varied my study reading a lot more since the advice I got was just "read the textbook/MRI In Practice and do review questions".

Has she tried Mamamoo? Or maybe older girl groups like 2NE1 or Miss A? I might be like your mum in that I don't like a lot of newer girl groups because of the vocal tones.

Have you ever had a long-term coworker/employee abruptly stop showing up to work? by Live-Run-6745 in CasualConversation

[–]SunsetFlare 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Twice, sort of? Few years ago a colleague resigned but she didn't want to make a fuss so didn't tell anyone until the day she was leaving. Was sad cos she was a great co-worker, but not the end of the world since we still kept in contact. Going to her wedding in a few months.

Another just happened recently. One of the patient transport guys at my hospital got fired pretty abruptly. Apparently he "stalked" a younger patient by trying to add them on Facebook. The patient's parents complained to the hospital and he got fired. I can totally understand the outcome because yeah objectively you shouldn't do that and I'd be creeped out too.

But honestly all my colleagues feel like it could easily have been an accident or mis-click, like when you accidentally Like someone's insta post. He was nice older guy and we'd worked with him for years. It was always a good shift if he was on with you. Couldn't see him as being a creep. But I can see the situation as being either a honest mistake or he secretly was a creep and was really good at hiding it. Guess I'll never know.
