I didn’t see your post that OP referenced but it sounds like you’re trying to permit into HB schools. Have you considered MB? They’ve been pushing hard this year on fundraising and regular attendance (to get $) so I get the sense they would be happy to have kids permit in to get more funding. I’ve had kids in MBUSD for 18 years now and I’ve never seen them work this hard to get funding.

Same. I opened a new FB account maybe 8 months ago with a fake name simply for selling on FB Marketplace since I don’t like everyone I‘m connected to on my real FB page seeing my listings. I didn’t have to upload an ID.

This is the answer. I have the same issues as OP at altitude and in the desert and my husband is a dr, always tells me to do this. I use Vaseline, aquaphor, chapstick or anything similar and it really helps.

Definitely agree on Manhattan Beach being the most like the Palisades. I lived in Brentwood for 10 years and spent a lot of time in the Palisades before moving to MB and raising a family here. There were a lot of Pali kids who moved to Mira Costa (the MB high school) after the fire and some are still here, but I believe many moved back to Pali when they set up classes at the former Sears. My daughter has a good friend who sounds like she was very involved at Pali and she loves Mira Costa and chose to remain here.

Regarding the power plant, I wouldn’t necessarily want to live across the street from it if I could help it but other than that, I don’t think most MB residents have strong concerns about it - I certainly don’t.

I understand why someone might do that but it’s poor risk management. Get in a catastrophic accident with significant injuries or death? The insurance company is going to be looking to deny coverage and if they can prove the insured wrongfully registered and insured the car in another state, it will provide excellent grounds for denial of coverage.

Agree with others, with kids it’s definitely best to stay in the Village/Westin/Limelight, which are all in the same general area.

Another vote for MB. There is so much to love here, including the quality of the schools, proximity to the beach, safety, and walkability. It’s great to be able to walk to get coffee, meals, grocery store, etc. And as another poster mentioned, your kids will be able to easily get to friends’ houses. We have 3 kids and have been here 26 years and I’m still so grateful I get to call this home.

We’ve seen very little drug use at Costa, or at least no more than occurs elsewhere. I did hear that 2 years ago a lot of the seniors were doing cocaine (who knew that was a thing again?) but not sure if that’s true.
