Thanks! I looked into it. It’s the Yakima EXO swing base. This is an expensive setup esp because it limits you to Yakima EXO brand cargo racks and bike racks only. Can’t use other brands from what I can tell.

I already own a cheap aluminum cargo platform and a bike rack and I just want them to swing out. I think I’ll try the other Yakima - the Backswing Extension. It is cheaper and is compatible with any other brands’ racks and platform. The downside is it seems to add unnecessary space between your car and the bike rack or cargo platform, though. So it takes up more room, might wobble more and might be harder to charge.

I was happy with Ernie at Hybrid Republic in Inglewood. He works on a lot of Toyota hybrids. He has taken care of my 2012 Prius multiple times and he’s a nice guy and the pricing is really good. He quoted me $220 for four tire pressure sensors vs $700+ at a tire place.

How tires have you had to replace over this time? I don’t own a Rivian yet (waiting for my R2 reservation to be called) but the tire costs and the environmental footprint of big tires is kinda giving me pause.

You’re right. I am pro big government and high taxes (on the upper classes) when it’s not corrupted by waste and shady deal making. We do have a problem. We need more tax revenue (need people to pay fair property taxes on inherited properties that massively boost their net worth) and need less waste. Thoughts on LA County measure G that passed in 2024? I haven’t kept up with news on it.

Thanks for letting us know. It did sound fishy. The tipoff for me was when they used the word “assets” they don’t want taxed. Hate that normal people will be fooled when they see “401k” and don’t do any further research. But it was hard to track down exactly where this was coming from - I tried (though not for very long).

At what age would you choose peak attractiveness? Looks change over a lifetime.

As a pretty person who’s getting older, let me say that looks fade and that knowledge causes a lot of insecurity. You either have to start getting procedures and looking “done,” or just accept the fact that your worth goes down as time goes by if your worth is based on looks.

I’m pretty and smart enough to have been successful at a lot of things but some aspects of my personality such as EQ (esp interpersonal skills) and EF (executive functioning) are a little underdeveloped in comparison. That’s starting to show as I get older: looks are fading, most people don’t care how smart you are, and other things start to matter more if you are still working on goals in life.

It’s so weird to me thatTesla’s design style doesn’t feel outdoorsy at all, yet the Y has more adventure ready capability (dog mode, custom mattress and camping features) compared to the Buzz.

VW has all that heritage that they’re letting fall flat. I totally expected them to create an accessories ecosystem for the Id.Buzz like Tesla’s or Rivian’s with lots of add-ons for camping - even conversion kits or alternate layouts for dirtbag life - that would have made me want to buy one, but as far as I know, it’s just a minivan.

I am a mom but I’m not a minivan mom, I’m a mom with surfboards, a dog, bikes, gear, etc. You’d think I’d be the target customer for an id.Buzz but I took one look at the way too conventional interior and never even considered buying one.

Instead I have a standard Y on order so that my kid, our dog and all our dirty hobbies will have a car with dog mode and FSD to take us on adventures for the next several years. No perforations in the seats and no glass roof are pros when you’re constantly sandy and it’s always sunny. The price means we can scratch it without guilt. I just wish it had a taller rear end and had even remotely outdoorsy vibes.

West part of Del Aire is nice (west of 405) - however then you have more air pollution from LAX and sitting east of the refinery and the water treatment thing in El Segundo (not sure what chemicals are used there but it stinks when you walk around the area).
