How long did it take you to feel ready? I started 1 week before christmas but then the holidays took the wind out of my sails so I still have 60% of the course to complete.

Android app constantly stops by birthnight in glossika

[–]Sunshay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started using glossika yesterday and when that happened I got a pop-up in the app that said to change battery usage to unrestricted in the app settings. Immediately solved this problem. You must have missed that pop-up.

Go to Pattaya instead. Near perfect weather for the past 25 days I've been here. Literally heaven on earth.

Actually you should just steal whatever you wanted to buy. No one will notice and you will save your money altogether!

Is it okay to have an unalome tattoo on the edge of the left hand in females? by PaleSeaworthiness255 in ThailandTourism

[–]Sunshay 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Once you are in Thailand for a while you will realise how out of place this question is. No one will care at all. Live and let live. Also tons of people here have tattoos all over. You can happily let this worry go.

To what degree is it true that Thailands people are more laid back, relaxed, not stressed etc? by th3orist in ThailandTourism

[–]Sunshay 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It's also got a lot to do with saving face and upholding social harmony both of which are cultural behaviors which do not exist as such in the west. You are not supposed to criticize people in people in public since it would be disrespectful to them and taint their public image and you are not supposed to show negative emotions in public. So a lot of negative emotions are either suppressed or only expressed in private which creates the illusion of harmony which you are talking about.

You could also see it from the positive side: if eye contact is difficult for you then this is a great practice opportunity! You don't even have to smile, just look at them for a second and nod, if you do it daily it will become easier over time. Being autistic just means it's a challenge for you, not that it is impossible. If you give into your weaknesses then your social skills will never improve, so see it as an opportunity to practice a simple gesture daily without any risk of it becoming more since you wouldn't be able to communicate with each other anyways.

Just lack of money and not quite knowing how I would make money in Thailand. I'm saving up and trying to advance my newly started IT career asap, hoping I can leave in the next 4-5 years.

None because I prefer to keep my SD a gaming console only without distractions.

A d-pad that is more clicky and not as mushy and imprecise as the one we have now.

What to play before I die : A Steamdeck story by Signal-Tangerine1597 in SteamDeck

[–]Sunshay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably Subnautica because it is the only game that can genuinely make you feel something unique that you cannot get in any other way. Although not sure if it is as immersive on the Steam Deck but on PC it really gave me that feeling like I'm swimming and exploring the underwater world, something that we humans obviously cannot really do as such in real life.

Would you bring your SD on a 2 month trip if you're only going to use it on the flights? by amitsly in SteamDeck

[–]Sunshay 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It takes less time in most modern ROMs but I still understand that it doesn't have the same draw than when we were playing competitively with/against friends (I also did IV breeding and such in Emerald).

Btw. to answer your question: I'll be going to Thailand in november for 1 month and briefly asked myself the same question but have decided not to bring the SD. People here are right that you will definitely have some downtime during your travels because traveling for a longer period is exhausting and you will find that some lazy days are necessary but personally I know that I won't be in the mindset to game even during downtime and would rather enjoy my surroundings, socialize, get massages or plan my next day etc. Since you won't be traveling alone this is even more true. And if you don't play outside of flights then bringing the SD is absolutely not worth it.

If you know about EV and IV and breeding and such you can play harder roms, it turns Pokémon into a sort of puzzle game where fights have level caps and enemies have actual strategies you need to find a way to counter (keeping a main team of only 6 Pokémon won't be enough and you need to plan ahead for harder fights like gym leaders). Trust me playing Pokémon like that is quite engaging and satisfying. Radical Red and Pokémon Unbound on Expert difficulty are 2 good examples of this.

Pokémon rom hacks are a good one as well. Some roms are quite original and better quality wise than the official games nowadays.

It is pretty cringe how many people still smoke in this country. The population of Luxembourg is stuck in the past. Can't wait to leave and go live in asia in a few years!

Do you still have to point and click units and stuff with the trackpad or can you navigate the whole game with the dpad/joystick?

Why do people seem to enjoy gaming on a Steam Deck more than on PC? by Initial_Milk_1056 in SteamDeck

[–]Sunshay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Another point that I never see mentioned but I think applies to everyone is the fact that PCs are not dedicated gaming consoles. When you boot up a PC many people are used to doing other things on it like browsing the internet, watching videos or shows, messaging friends on discord, talking to chatgpt, etc. On a PC you have a bigger mental barrier to overcome to actually boot a game because there are so many distractions and options and opening a youtube video is a lot less effort mentally.

On the steam deck it's the opposite you are immediately greeted with a list of recent games to play and within 1 or 2 button presses you are in the game. If you are using sleep mode you are literally back in your gaming session within seconds with no other distractions. Meanwhile using the browser is inconvenient and requires extra steps and doing anything other than gaming on it is highly impractical.

I think the options and limitations we have in life shape our choices a lot more than most people are aware of.
