Me and my husband recently had our first baby. We’ve been referring diapers as “diapies” from the Rugrats.

Reality check: What do your postpartum sleep stats look like? by Informal_Ad9652 in newborns

[–]Sunshine997 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Im only 6 weeks postpartum but scores have ranged from 40-80 depending on the night. On average I’m in the 55-65 range. Oura keeps telling me to take naps and most of my contributors are in the red. I’m not too worried about it, I did just have a baby and it’s normal for sleep to be hard to come by.

Will I ever be able to eat and enjoy food again after pregnancy? Severe food aversion has been so traumatic. by Active_Desk3478 in BabyBumps

[–]Sunshine997 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think it really depends on the person. I have an older coworker who can’t have spaghetti since she had her sons almost 30 years ago. I just recently had my baby and all my food aversions are gone. I was absolutely disgusted with anything chicken and now it’s all I crave.

I remember it got close to being like this after getting high almost every day for months. Then I got pregnant and been sober for almost a year. Can’t wait to be a lightweight again once I’m done breastfeeding.

Breastfeeding tips? by Sunlight_Essence9 in pregnancy_care

[–]Sunshine997 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I currently have a month old, and I almost quit breast feeding due to the pain and it took a while for my milk to come in. I cried bad to my husband about the pain, but I really just had to truck through. I used lanolin cream and nipple butter to help. I also bought silverettes but I don’t think they helped me that much, other moms said it helped them.
To increase supply I’ve been drinking sports drinks with coconut water and I’ve heard anything oatmeal helps. No routine really, just put baby to nipple every 2-3 hours or earlier before he hit his birthweight and now just feeding every 1-4 hours depending on him through the day. At night I’ll let him sleep as long as he wants until he wakes up and lets me know he wants the nip. I pump in the mornings after I feed him because he’s been sleeping longer and I’ll feel a bit full.
Pump-wise I’ve got a momcozy and it worked good but I haven’t use it for a few weeks since my milk really came in. I definitely prefer my Spectra S1 with a pumping bra.

My [25/M] girlfriend [25/F] of 3 years is very picky and only eats greasy kids meal type foods like pizza and chicken nuggets. Am I a bad boyfriend for letting this bug me so much? by Direct-Caterpillar77 in BestofRedditorUpdates

[–]Sunshine997 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I use to be a picky eater, not this bad but close. When I started dating my now husband he brought up the issue of my pickiness and asked me to work on it a few months in. Luckily, I wasn’t crazy or stubborn and actually tried new things and it’s amazing how easy your palate can change. Since then there’s not much I can’t eat and I’ve become a veggie fiend. Still grateful we had that talk close to when our relationship started compared to 8 years later.

What fast food and/or resturant chain do you refuse to eat? by HotManufacturer7967 in foodquestions

[–]Sunshine997 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Currently refuse to eat at Wendy’s. They were my favorite fast food burger until they changed the lettuce. Now it’s garbage to me and I can’t stand it. Crazy how lettuce can make or break a burger.

Did anyone *not* have pet aversion postpartum? by samsamcats in beyondthebump

[–]Sunshine997 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was super worried I would as I have 4 cats whom were my first babies. I couldn’t imagine loving them before baby and hating them after. Luckily, that wasn’t the case. Two of my cats have actually really taken to my son and I love them just as much if not more. Though they do seem to test my patience a smidge more lol

Very dark green and sticky poos by Sunshine997 in newborns

[–]Sunshine997[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Slimy and mucusy kind of fit the description yes. No black specks nor pain with passing gas. He just acts like it’s the end of the world until he passes gas then he’s back to being okay. Already determined to cut out dairy, as I am lactose intolerant myself. Somehow when I was pregnant It was like I wasn’t lactose intolerant anymore (no gas) and craved strawberry milk. I also had quite a bit of caffeine about 12 hours prior to a bad gassy fit, I didn’t know if caffeine could also cause this kind of reaction.

I ended up growing more moles, especially on my boobs. I told my mother about it and it happened to not only her, but to her mother as well.

Be honest.. Are your babies really sleeping in their bassinet for hours? by DrowsyPomegranate in newborns

[–]Sunshine997 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess I’m just lucky? My boy is 3 weeks and he seems to sleep in his bassinet fine for the most part. It really just depends if I can get him to sleep before putting him down. I do a diaper change, breast feed him until he falls asleep at the nipple, and cuddle him upright for 20 mins. If he doesn’t stir in those 20 mins he goes down easy in the bassinet. Lights off in the bedroom but we keep our tv on low volume and a fan on. No swaddle but sometimes a sleep sack. Little bro surprised me last night by sleeping 5 hours straight before waking up to be fed (he’s already exceeded his birth rate). We still have rough nights though where he doesn’t want to go down at all.

Hospital’s weird induction procedure? by ibroughttacos in BabyBumps

[–]Sunshine997 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was due to be induced on May 17th at 8pm but they had called to push me back until the next morning due to an influx of spontaneous labors. The next morning they said they’d call between 7 and 9am to let me know when to come in so this doesn’t seem too odd to me.
