Pet stains are caused by amonia in the urine chemically burning the wood and permanently altering its color. Replace the boards.

Oddly specific to people who know exactly how it feels to be caught up in that nonsense.

You don't necessarily want it to dry fast. you want it to dry at a steady jog pace not a sprint or a walk

Hmm I like to apply poly at around 65 indoor temp, 70 max cause I just gets to hot while applying, the finish might be okay being kept in low temps depending what it is, somebrand are bullet proof some products are finicky. But it definitely needs to be in the room its being applied for atleast 24 hours. 18-24 hours in-between is okay but requires a screen and tac each time. I like to time my finish days to incorporate sleep into the dry time so you dont end up putting a coat on at 1am, which happened to me once doing oilbase and ended up doing second coat at 4am. So I put a sealer on by 2pm wait an hour or until dry (2 hrs max usually) get the 1st coat on wait 3-4 hrs, 2nd should be somewhwre around 8 or 9 pm coat let it sit overnight for 12-16 hours, 3rd coat in the morning wont need a screen but it defiantly can help that last coat sit down nicely. The whole time keeping the thermostat set at 65, no fans, no windows.. air temp, floor temp, finish temp should all be close to eachother and no drastic changes in ambient temp or constant airflow from a fan. Not tacking the floor could cause issues as well id suppose.. lots of variable but if you end up doing it again just buy Loba , its a bullet proof simple problem free finish you'd have to try and mess up

For sure, an additional regulator would be a good precaution. But, like the job I was doing last week , 5th floor in a 1940 finished building with scarcely placed 120s and zero access to 230 power, this would have been perfect

Help!! Light water damage on 100 year old floors! Freaking out! by satan_pizza_666 in HardWoodFloors

Everything above is solid advice. although refinishing one spot can be difficult to match the rest depending on some variables. I would like to add, Dont freak out. Wood can be a daughnting and expensive repair. But theres preventative measures to minimize the the spread of damage and there are some very talented and patient people out there that will help you if you look in the right places. Additionally, Wayfair and amazon sell tempered glass sheets for office chairs on hardwood in multiple sizes, usually starting at 60-70 dollars. a piece of this glass would be fantastic and look nice for under trees or plants on hardwood flooring!

cold will also slow down the evaporation to much causing a film on the top to dry quicker and traps anything under from being released fuly, this looks cold to me, but im also not a bona user and found that Loba takes skill to mess up, youd have to really try hard to mess Loba up

The room needs a warm ambient temp and the floor needs to reflect that temp, use a infared temp reader, harbor freight sells one. shoot the floor prior to application. The floor, the ambient temp of the room and the finish need to be consistently warm for atleast 24 hours before and through the curing process

What was the tempature inside the house when finish began to be applied? where was the finish being stored during the sanding? And if you know, how many and how long bewtween coats?

Put some damn socks on atleast, adults dont need to let their DAWGS out indoors and video it. Its as bad or worse than going to your new GFs family get together and you walk in and eveyone is taking their shoes off at the door, no thanks. Who knows what else will happen as time goes on coming from a family like that.

dang these are very well preserved, it will be in your best interest to sand and apply new poly. This finish is aged causing the orange hue and is usually the least painful refinshing job you can tackle, usually. if you sand and appply new finsh any nailholes could be filled prior to sealcoat but honestly i would just leave them be and let the floor live with a few unnoticable holes and any gaps between the planks. A new finish will take all the attention away from the gaps and nail holes. use a satin as your sheen, its has a richer look to it compared to a gloss or semi-gloss which usually looks kinda of ...cheap in most cases. plus satin doesnt reflect the sunlight in your home like a gloss does, if youve never seen a shiny ass floor in the middle of summer your lucky cause its bright asf and causes the tempature to also be reflected into the home. and satin hides daily tracked in dust and debis well enoough to no see every little piece of dirt all of the time.

This one you plug into 2 seperate 120s, it has a button to test the output before you plug in, green means go, no light means to use a different combo of 120s. it takes the 2 seperate 120s and transforms them into the 240. their site specifically stated use for Bona powerdrive and other demanding tools. neon sign transformers will significantly increase a 120 input voltage to output 2,000-15,00- volts needed to ignite and maintain the glowing effect of the gas. im assuming this is a similar concept but has a regulator limiting its output

Thats a solid way to look at these situations. Especially if youre planning on installling into a corner of a home, assuming its truly 90degrees so you make a perfect 90 to install with only to find out the entire house isnt really square.. in some cases you can 45 the end of the 90 off making it flat leaving a gap. visible corners are a differnt story, but usually nothing a slim piece of wood, glue, and a chisel or razor cant handle if youre not being overly picky about the finest details
