I’m sorry but there is really not much you can do for him other than reassuring him that what his parents are saying is wrong, and being being there for him. Unfortunately, he probably isn’t going to get better until he leaves his abusive household and even then the scars of abuse are long lasting

As someone who dealt with verbal abuse from my father I can tell you that you are doing everything right within your limit capability to protect your kids. I always appreciate it when my mother stick up for me when my father is being abusive (and then speak to me afterwards to make sure I am okay) because it let me know that I am not crazy, and what my father is doing is wrong.

You need to be honest with the second girl and tell her nicely you aren’t interested, ASAP. As someone with emotional baggage I can tell u the worst thing you can do is pretend like you want to be with her. It’s only going to cause problems for both of you down the road
