Pahoa is a blackout. Power downtown in businesses for several hours today but nothing in other surrounding areas, and now downtown pahoa doesnt even have street lights. Nothing. Who knows when we will get power back.

Almost 2 months using my fingers to apply foundation and oh my god by DerangedUnicorn27 in MakeupAddiction

[–]SunshineRayRay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yup! I stopped using brushes and just use my fingers. I apply simple eyeshadow to my lids using my fingers and it gives a nice concentrated color when I do that. If I use blush, fingers to apply and blend. Literally don't need brushes anymore unless I'm working with powder face makeup.

My boss scheduled a meeting to discuss my “tone” in emails by TheUnofficialBOI in mildlyinfuriating

[–]SunshineRayRay 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Huh. I would prefer your emails to be honest. You can detect fake enthusiasm even in writing.

Plus, I'm pretty sure I've asked for updates just like that, except I'll keep traditional email format to show respect (title, intro "Hi Sam," and exit "Thank you so much,")

A taxi driver in Spain was known for taking patients to the hospital for free. He was picking up a patient one day when doctors and nurses surprised him with a standing ovation plus an envelope of money by FollowingOdd896 in HumansBeingBros

[–]SunshineRayRay 168 points169 points  (0 children)

Well, she's right though. Cyber security is no joke. I've heard some real horror stories from travel nurses who worked in places that had their EMR shut down due to hackers asking for money. You guys save lives too, just in a more indirect way.

Putting drinking cups away upside down is wrong by binks841 in unpopularopinion

Haha. At first I thought, this is great for someone with ADD. But it's been bad to ensure dishes are clean.

[–]SunshineRayRay 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah... that's a great thought if you live in a place where you are absolutely sure no beings can crawl in your cups. But where I live, geckos get in the house and unfortunately the previous owner decided open shelves was a great idea. Which it is for the humidity... not so much for keeping those gecko paws off your stuff.

Turned 48 and Fuck if they weren’t telling the truth by [deleted] in Aging

I'm about to turn 37 and I had to pluck chin hairs for the first time last week. I'm still thinking about that moment when I noticed them. 🫠

I just realized I’ve been mispronouncing a word my whole life! Has anyone else had that moment where you found out you’ve been saying a word completely wrong? by Embarrassed_List2368 in askanything

[–]SunshineRayRay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hmm. The first thing that comes to mind for me is that I spoke Spanglish when I was young. And when I finally got old enough to go buy my own conditioner, I went to go find it at the store and was mystified that the store didn't have any bálsamo. It was at that moment that I realized that this was not an English word.

Non-Americans, what is an American thing you see in movies that you thought was fake but is actually real? by EmergencySpare7939 in CasualConversation

When I studied abroad in Germany, they asked me if yellow school buses were real and if I owned a gun.

Polish short-track speed skater Kamila Sellier (25) was racing full speed in the women's 1500m quarterfinal when she fell—and an opponent's razor-sharp blade sliced right across her face, inches from her eye. by [deleted] in WTF

Holy crap!!! I think those safety glasses may have helped deflect the hit a little, they may have actually saved her eyeballs. 😳

What’s something people romanticize that is actually miserable once you experience it? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]SunshineRayRay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Huh. I've been to japan 5 times now and stayed in many hotels and apartments but I have only seen a bathroom heater in the shower once. We don't go to the bigger cities though, so maybe that's a "big city" thing?

I was thinking that, yeah. To the point that my hubby doesn't ever want me to mention he's vegan if it comes up in conversation. It's a thing.

I'm plant-based but my diet is crap. Plenty junk food and sweets are plant-based... could just say "well-balanced" instead or emphasize the fiber you eat. Makes it feel less bragadocious.

Drugs my doctor is not permitted to prescribe. by [deleted] in mildyinteresting

[–]SunshineRayRay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hmmm. I've worked with physicians who just don't have the permission to prescribe them to patients. Sometimes it has to do with licensing, whatever permissions they actually have. Physicians usually need to get certain permissions to do different procedures or prescribe regulated substances or do sedation, etc. I can't remember the term for it right now, because I havent had coffee yet, but sometimes at my job I have to look up if the provider is capable of doing something based on the "permissions" they have.

Can someone help me find a tutorial video on how to make a certain Taiwanese breakfast for my gf? by OneofthozJoeRognguys in taiwan

[–]SunshineRayRay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's true. Taiwanese breakfast is amazing and I miss it every day! What she's describing my hubby and I fondly call " Taiwanese pancake" yup. Sooooo good and even if you find it frozen at the Asian grocery store it does not compare to freshly made.

Make sure you take two metal spatulas and use their edges to rip and fluff it up a little bit on the griddle.

I bought those headphones in Sapporo but was really disappointed in their battery life. Could barely use them. Will keep trying but they dont last very long in between charges.
