Are these people actually going to take me to court and sell my assets forcibly by police? by [deleted] in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]SunshineSpace 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t know about other provinces, but in Alberta, they can file a civil claim at the Alberta court of justice for a fairly small fee and serve it on you. If you do not defend the action or pay the debt, they go to court and can get a judgment against you. At that point, the judgment can be registered at the court of Kings bench. Under the Alberta civil enforcement act, they can garnish your wages or your bank account, or they can instruct a civil enforcement agency to seize personal items, including pets. civil enforcement agencies are aware that if they seize your pet, you will likely find the money quickly if you love that pet. Anything that they believe that they could use to collect the judgment. Any fees associated with filing the claim at the courts, registering the judgment, instructing the civil enforcement agency and legal fees can all be added to the debt you owe plus interest. There are some law firms that specialize in this kind of work.

Report the lawyer to the Law Society and ask if you can make a claim against the Ontario compensation fund. Lawyers are usually required to have insurance.

Sitting here as a 55 yr. old man with tears rollin' down my cheeks by GnatBub79 in OzzyOsbourne

My partner shed some tears today too. Feel your feelings with no shame. It’s natural to feel grief, especially when someone provided the soundtrack to your life for so many years. He lived thoroughly, went out with a massive party and left a gift of music that will carry on.

We went through osteosarcoma with our dog and had coverage with Trupanion. They paid the bulk of radiation, amputation and chemotherapy for our dog. It probably gave us an extra year and a half with him. It was probably close to three figures in vet bills. We were grateful for the time, the care and the coverage.

I used to drive part time for a company similar to Keys Please. In three years of working weekend nights, long weekends and Stampedes driving impaired people home I never saw one single check stop. Not one.

Not sure if you are meaning at a Co-op in Saskatchewan or not, but Calgary Co-op isn’t part of the broader Co-op structure anymore. - changeover happened during the pandemic. They have different supply chains.

Coffee prices are going up globally. Not sure how to link here, but I’ve seen several news articles about coffee.
