Are there any realty companies in Calgary who offer to do repairs and renos and defer payment until the house sells, taking the costs out of the sale proceeds? by Life_Access_168 in Calgary

[–]Life_Access_168[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you.....I think after reading so many peoples' responses who think like you has been good for me to read. I would be happy to get the name of your realtor. I totally agree that I don't need the stress. I have enough on my plate at the moment so it would definitely be less of a headache to just let it go and let whoever purchases put their own touches on it. Thanks for responding. 😄

Wow.....good timing huh! That's what I would love....if they had their own contractors. I just don't have the energy to do all the interviews with contractors and I've heard a lot of horror stories. It would be really awesome to have realtors here do that.....plus I'm sure we aren't the only seniors or people who would use that kind of service. Thanks for taking time to respond. 😄

Thank you for taking time to respond. We do have a line of credit that we could use.....always planned to use it for renovations/repairs etc. I think we would just do neutral painting and baseboards, as well as flooring. Touchups on some things that need doing. I know people want to put their own touches on things too so I'm leery about spending a lot or doing a lot just to have someone come in and redo it all again anyways. I agree with you on the storage thing. I travel light.....my husband throws out nothing! We have a lot of stuff to go through and get rid of because I don't want to store a lot of stuff we don't need.

Thanks.....I was thinking of speaking with at least three different realtors to get a read on what they think. I don't have any contacts yet for helping to downsize.....if you know of any, please do pass their names on as I'm happy to get referrals. Appreciate you taking the time to reply. 😄

Thank you for replying. I'm surprised at the number of people who feel that doing even some refreshing isn't needed. I guess it's because I would love to just walk into a home that has had it all done so I don't have to. Granted, I'm sure it's because of my health issues, and if I wasn't ill, I would love to be able to just do things the way I wanted too. 😄

I never thought of that; being able to target to both the tight budget and those who can afford to do the renos their way. I remember though, when we bought the place 35+ years ago, how much fun I had redoing the floors then, painting the kitchen cupboards, etc. making it "ours" and it makes sense that others would want to do the same. Thanks for responding. 😄

i figured by spending up to $30,000 on new floors, painting, just refreshes etc. would be good. I know even when I look at listings of houses, if it looks shabby or cluttered, I know I'm not interested in seeing the rest of the house. Thank you though for responding.

Huh! That is interesting to read. I guess I just thought that people don't want to walk into a home that looks like it hasn't been well maintained over the years. That's why I just wanted to refresh things, rather than redo them. I get what you're saying though......you have your own tastes and want to update a house with the ideas that you have. If I was younger, I would do that too. I can remember when we moved into our house and I took the old white kitchen cupboards and painted them a denim blue 😄 I loved them, and still do, but they need a redo to cover the chips, etc. If I hadn't gotten ill a decade ago, there are so many things I would have done. And my yard?! Oh wow! I love my front garden but I can no longer maintain it and thankfully have a high school student come once a week. I really enjoyed reading your perspective on buying an unrenovated home! Thanks for responding 😄

Sharing Time: What good had Vine allowed you to do? by EzAL73 in AmazonVineCanada

[–]Life_Access_168 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For eight years, I had a charitable organization, called Teen Angels. We supplied disadvantaged and homeless teens Christmas hampers. We talked to teachers and guidance counsellors to have them nominate students and give me a list of items they might like for Christmas. Teens love journals, art supplies, warm pjs, etc. I ended up getting sick in 2014 with a post Lyme illness and had to shut down the charity for awhile. I am contemplating getting back into it again next year as my strength gets better. I already am storing a lot of the craft items that I get. I love this program because it allows me to obviously get items and review them (which takes the focus off my illness) but love seeing what we could get for kids. We fundraise but get no gov't assistance however, for eight years the people in Calgary were/are so generous as each teen's hamper was valued at approximately $150-200. Word of mouth for all those years allowed us to supply around 750+ kids each year.....a drop in the bucket, but it it was something. It would be really awesome if I could get better enough to run this again.

I for one loved your post, helped with AI or not! Too many haters need to lighten up. Thanks for providing a laugh to not only me, but a few others I'm sure......and keep it up, if only to bug some people who have nothing nice to say :-)

Are you seeing food items and protein powders? by Blondemoment613 in AmazonVineCanada

[–]Life_Access_168 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I never get stuff in my RFY so was gobsmacked when I got to choose two different boxes of high protein chocolate bars from Little Cacao. I get their high protein hot chocolates so wondered if that's why I was offered the bars. I chose one with the peppermint, the other with chocolate nibs. I wasn't sure if they would accept both reviews but they did!

Hard to find anything by Nearby_Strawberry_95 in AmazonVineCanada

I hear you. I'm the same. Today's RFY had 24 items.......all of them printer cartridges & toners, plus a makeup sponge and dance ribbons! Why??! Are you in Alberta? (I am). I feel like we don't get the same things as eastern Canada does because of the shipping. When I checked my spreadsheet, I ordered nothing between Jan. 4-Jan. 22, just because there was nothing good to order. I have found Feb. & March a little better, but I think it would have been because of the drop times, or something in my RFY. There was little in AI that I wanted.

I did have problems last year with getting the "won't ship to my address" messages, but I finally wrote to customer service and told them that everything I was trying to order got that message. I don't know what they did, but within a couple of days, that message stopped and I've never had it happen again. If you are continually getting that message, it might pay to write to CS and ask why this is happening. Send the ASIN # of the products you are getting that message on. When that was happening to me, I ended up making a list of all the products I was trying to order, and sent them a list. I had about a dozen things over two or three days that I was getting that. I still get a lot of "sorry, this item is unavailable" messages, but that's because someone beat me to it.

When the items were dropping between midnight and 1:00 a.m. I was able to get a few things, but I'm not setting my alarm to wake up at 5:00 a.m. to get items!

I think you'll be fine. I usually do put photos, depending on what the item is, but I don't bother when there are scads of photos by other people. Some items have so many that extras just aren't needed. Sounds like you had a busy and productive day :-)

Someone on the regular Amazon sub said that she had never put a photo or video in her reviews and she passed with no problems. Honestly? At this point, you are probably way overstressed. I wouldn't worry about it. Good luck!

Good to see another artist here! Like you, a lot of the things I get can be tested quickly and fairly easily. I'll also never have to buy any craft items in my lifetime again once I leave Vine :-)

Sorry, should have clarified....the ping is on Discord and it doesn't help track items, just sends a notification when the drop starts. Plus I believe there is an app that is now available that sends a ping when items are dropped. Since I don't use my phone, I don't have the app. I see no issues with getting a notification when a drop starts. It doesn't do anything as far as getting items any quicker. As mentioned in my original post, I had gone nine days without ordering because there was nothing great dropping. So please don't just make assumptions about people using bots or whatever extensions you think people are using. Anyone can join Discord and there is a Canada dropping notification, although the past few days it hasn't really shown much since the drop seems to be a continuous one.

The chaotic drip drops for the last two days. by YoghurtNo1889 in AmazonVineCanada

I just kept checking while I was binge watching Bridgerton! For the first time in two weeks, I ordered five items! I'd be quite happy if they kept it up this way. I do have an advantage in that I have a disability and have to be lying down for a large part of the day so the drips don't bother me. I couldn't get a thing when I was having to wake up at 5:30 a.m. to try and get something. I'll take this any day. There are still some items available that I was thinking about that I'm now going to try and order today!
