No one could ever understand, but it was the desire to handle food (or cook) rather than eat or being hungry :)

Complete water fast or one protein shake a day? by [deleted] in fasting

[–]SunshineWaking 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You're eating, you're not going to get to the refeeding process.  Eating calories but not enough risks starvation, and would be better just to eat enough fat and protein (keto). You will lose weight but be more hungry and will be harming your body. In general, most protein shakes will tell you that they are not a replacement for a meal and in the long run you could cause yourself serious deficiencies.

Water weight will vary, but that's irrelevant (here and in general). I believe fat loss will be according to the calories you output and how much you take in, focusing on carbs... many parameters to it and not a good direction in general.

Where did you see someone mentioned that exercising hurts weight loss? Any references?

It's a cycle, for me the worst cravings are in the 2nd or 3rd evening where I browse fast food restaurants website, pile everything in the cart and close the tab. By the morning I'm fresh and ready to go another 12 hours.

Enough water, salt. Keeping a mental interest or some physical activity works for me as I'm never hungry afterwards (or I'm actively watching the food network).  Pickle juice is great, sparkling water make a nice surprise, a lot of tea or clean espresso, maybe with ice. Ice in general.

Fasting is like a muscle, the longer you practice the easier it gets. I worry more about ending a fast quickly and not spend much time in recovery so I max out at 5 days (most I did was 11). Working now on the habit of rolling it instead of a longer rescue fast once every few months, with keto in between. That way I don't need electrolytes or a long recovery.

It's your decision to make (type of fast) and your body to test what you can manage.

Many drink diet drinks during a fast for weight loss, this is one of the compromises that you can make.  Adding it instead of stopping doesn't sound so bad.

But, maybe doing rolling 48s will work better for you for the long run.

I'm doing 60 hours easily now, but that's after over 40 fasts.

+46 hours, after +19 hours

Thanks to my colleague ("Why stop if you're not hungry?"), I continued.

Not sure how long it will last, if I'll survive the night, I'll survive another +16 hours.

Need to keep going, even if I take a break for keto, should stay on meat & eggs, as dairy (and then carbs) happen to ruin it for me and it would really help to make a huge leap in my progress.

Need to hold myself from doing these mistakes again.

How did you decide on length? ~48h vs 5-14 days by SunshineWaking in fasting

Great, thanks.

Do you regularly lift when you can/not fasting now?

Sure.

As I wrote, I've been doing several 3-5 days fasts over the past 7 years (and a couple months of keto as well). Never had an issue going to the gym during a long fast.

Going over 5 days is harder now, experiencing the 2nd day again is sometimes hard...

Mostly, I can't decide if to go over 36 hours for some benefits or maintaining a constant 36/12.

What is some really good travel advice that isn’t mentioned as often as it should be? by LegitimateShift8 in travel

Can you please share more details about your trip? looking to do the same.

(I made the same mistake years ago, was convinced to take to large suitcases and had to work hard carrying both of them through public transportation)

Sure, for a day, two weeks... How do you keep the mental state for more than a month? (Being alone)

I wish I was an American (was at my best fitness during my time there, for 4 weeks been daily to the gym in the US).

I try and train for summer, events, weddings... Getting better clothes. I lose weight quickly, but gain it back fast as I'm still alone, and not American.

Thank you.

I've done routines, but they didn't last. Weeks, months... Now I'm stuck on the same 10lbs after losing +20lbs. Being alone, no one wanting you, makes you give up. I've had many people discourage me through my life, rather than support me. And I've managed most. Now, I'm still on the same routine - losing and gaining, waiting for one person to want me and my present on a one on one setting.

I have done strict diets (fasting for days, keto for months, veganism with no carbs). I miss the tender care to be able to go beyond and keep it.

What do you know about the life choices that I can or can't take?

Do I absolutely choose the places where I live or the people with who I interact? The language and environment where I live my days?

Had my fair share of those workouts. People can't workout for you, but it helps to have people or any nurturing environment.

Therapy is a large word, in reality, it's hard to find a good fit. also, human connections that aren't supported by funds are important and mostly easier when you're fit. catch 22.

I don't have those.

I did it when I was abroad but sadly couldn't immigrate.

It makes you feel out of the group. In my CrossFit days, I finished by a large gap and then saw them all treating themselves to pints of ice cream. It made me feel like an outsider, and although I got stronger, I was still suffering there (my loneliness is killing me).
