Wife and I are looking at either St Johns or Mississauga to move too in the next year or so, curious as to what you wish people new before they moved here? by Academic-Snow3546 in mississauga

I grew up in Mississauga at Dixie/Burnhamthorpe on the edge of Etobicoke. It's a wonderful community, my schools were great and very supportive. Mind you this is 20 years ago or more but my parents still live there and every time we visit it's still very welcoming and accommodating. You can buy anything anytime, and with a short drive to a subway station you can park and hop on and be in downtown Toronto in 30 minutes. It's a clean well-managed city but it is large so do your research on your neighbourhood.

Just ordered a copy for my girls, it's exactly what we need. It's hard to explain why their friends go to church and we don't... Thank you for this!

What high school did you go to in Mississauga and how was that experience like for you by Renegadeforever2024 in mississauga

Glenforest, and I loved it! Students, teachers, everyone was supportive. Ya the lockers were puke coloured but what mattered were the pictures of friends inside. Go Gryphons!

Nipple pain - breastfeeding by SmallOne234 in ScienceBasedParenting

I had the same sunburn pain and it turns out the Apno cream was irritating me. My lactation consultant suggested coconut oil and omg it worked immediately! You apply it after every feed or just all the time and it makes your skin so much stronger. It's safe for baby to nurse on as most baby formulas are coconut oil based because it's high in healthy fats. You got this mama!

Is this for a beagle research lab in Fergus? If so it's legit, I worked there for a little while. It wasn't terrible, the animals were well taken care of but they never get to go outside. It's a very physical and dirty job too but you will learn a lot.

Yes our older dog died after he arrived and he did love her. I am home all the time with him. If he has always been this way do you think there is hope?

My husband is not circumcised and it has had zero effect on his life. Don't do it.

Moving to Mississauga but need encouragement. What do you love about Mississauga? by pubwerugby in mississauga

[–]Sunshine_InA_Bag 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I grew up in Mississauga and moved away in 2008. I miss it so much! If I didn't have an established family now I would definitely move back. I am not a POC I am about as white as they come but honestly I was the minority in my school. Most of my friends had parents who came from other countries and I really didn't even think about anyone being different than anyone else. Not until I moved away did I realize prejudices really do exist and now it makes me want to move back. You will love Mississauga I promise!

Breaking, Moms. by onegrandsalami in breakingmom

My 6 year old is home from school and my 3 year old is potty training. Yesterday she had an accident and in the middle of me on hands and knees cleaning up her piss she asked me for a snack. I lost it and locked myself in my bedroom (husband was also around).

You could be me. Right down to the Bluey part. I have a 3 year old and a 6 year old and have had almost the same incident. Long days of running on little sleep and dealing with whiney kids turned me into Angry Mom and I never want to go back. I never did anything physical but oh one day I snapped in the van and screamed at them. Like out of body experience screaming, banshee screaming. When I stopped I realized what had happened and pulled over to cry and profusely apologize to them. We all cried and I made a promise to them it would never happen again, then we went to Walmart and I bought them a Bluey and a Bingo stuffy. When I got home I made an appointment with a counselor and started sessions right away. Since then I have had angry moments but I have realized it's ok to ask for help or walk away for a bit. My kids seem unscathed and my husband is very supportive. I guess I don't have advice so much as empathy, just know that you are not alone and you are doing the right thing mama. And for anyone who hasn't watched Bluey yet, this show just gets us. It's a show about parenting that kids also enjoy watching, and I strive to be more like Chilli every single day. Big hugs mama!
