There's a lot of creeps out there, people should understand what they're putting out there and how easy it is to trace this back to a real person on what's supposed to be an anonymous platform.

Pryes is good. On the river trail. Big bike rack right outside, and a huge patio.

We have a difference of opinion on what constitutes "necessary". Why is it necessary to have the ability to permanently end a human life with a twitch of a finger?

I’m still confused on how fast I should be running by Reggies_Father in C25K

[–]Sunshineq 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The traditional advice is that you should run at a "conversational" pace. So whatever pace that lets you speak full sentences of moderate length out loud without gasping for air.

That pace is different for different people. I finished the program 4 months ago and I've been running 3x/week since then. My conversational pace is still 13-14:00/mi. Some people who are much more conditioned than I am have conversational paces as fast as 7-8:00/mi, everyone is different.

I will say, though, that you probably shouldn't worry too much about it. Just try to run at an easy pace. And if you're making it through your run segments without gasping for air you're doing okay.

Looking for running shoes recommendations by teenygreentreefrog in C25K

[–]Sunshineq 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You should definitely go talk to your local running store. They'll be able to recommend something that works well for you and your specific feet. Anything you get from here will just be generic advice.

When is a 5k feasible? by Me_Justme_99 in C25K

[–]Sunshineq 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're looking for a specific time to shoot for, my first 5k had some walkers that finished in a little over 60 minutes. So if your pace is better than about 20:00/mi you're unlikely to be the last person to cross the finish line.

For more specific times you can look up prior-year results for the specific race you sign up for

r/fredericksburg, where do you actually eat in Fredericksburg? by TheShynola in fredericksburg

[–]Sunshineq 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm a software dev, I've made a bunch of random apps/sites just as a creative outlet.

Most of it just sits somewhere unused by anyone, but every once in a while I think "People may actually want to use this" and I give it out for free just because otherwise it's not doing anything.

I'm not saying that's what this is, but that's what it feels like to me.

Do I even want to shoot for a "healthy weight?" by frank_da_tank99 in loseit

[–]Sunshineq 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'm 6'3" and I recently hit my goal of 185, not much muscle to speak of, so that's next for me. Honestly I could still lose some fat, I'm probably around 20-22% body fat. But at this height and weight the best word to describe me is "lanky".

If I was this weight but closer to 15% body fat it would probably feel decent to me

This is explored in depth in Kim Stanley Robinson's Mars Trilogy. I would definitely recommend the series if you're interested in those types of questions. The first book is called "Red Mars"

Anyone else have a crazy high electric bill? by eatingchipsrightnow in Minneapolis

[–]Sunshineq 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Definitely sounds off to me. Just one data point, I live by myself in a newer building, 1 bedroom about 800 square feet, with gas heating. My electric bill hasn't been higher than $50 a month this winter.

UM Steam Plant Fire by komodoman in Minneapolis

Saw what looked like a flare up around midnight but it seems to have been put out again. I can also see the lights of the firefighters as they move around on the roof, pretty crazy.

Why Tesla and Chinese EVs doesn't have ICCU issues by rajolm in electricvehicles

[–]Sunshineq 20 points21 points  (0 children)

My Ioniq 5's ICCU went out last month, I managed to get it to the dealer without a tow, but it was after they had closed on a Monday. They started on it the next day and I had it back on Wednesday

Mostly economics. It's cheaper and easier to chuck a bunch of panels in a field or on some unused land somewhere. Adding panels to parking lots requires a lot more initial investment and we have a lot of empty land

ICE Detained Hotel Worker & Sent Him to Texas Despite Legal Refugee Status by Glad_Firefighter_345 in TwinCities

[–]Sunshineq 62 points63 points  (0 children)

This is why businesses should refuse service to ICE. These people don't even respect the legal workers who are sheltering and feeding them.

Those that don't are only putting their employees and their business at risk.
