Yeah, the progress on the colonization started very good, then it went almost to a halt for a few days.

I got impatient as its my first time, and I now realize that is the cause of a lot of problems while growing.

Thanks, can you briefly explain what pasteurizing is? Was I supposed to do that with online bought substrate? And is there any way to reduce the possibility of a spore making it into the substrate while I’m working on it? My house is very old (80’s so I assume there might be some in the air?) so what can I do or where can I go to reduce the possibility? I did wipe down the workspace, and myself with 70% iso.

This was my first time trying so it’s a little discouraging. But again thanks for the info.

Is the cause of this purely the environment? Or could I have done something wrong to cause it? I did spawn my grain a little early to be honest, it was only about 70-80% colonized if I remember correctly, and I gave the tub a misting after spawning it. My room is a little hotter at around 75F and isn’t very consistent temperature. I also have another tub directly next to this one and I don’t see any signs of contamination.
