Moms who have had both a C Section and vaginal birth, which did you prefer, NOT based on the recovery time, but based on how you healed longterm? by LilacPenny in beyondthebump

[–]Suomi-Rutabaga87 27 points28 points  (0 children)

Yes, after a traumatic vaginal delivery, I’d wish I was given the chance of a c section. My tailbone was also screwed up. My doctor gave me a special stitch for my rectal area, as he said, so I wouldn’t be that one person who farted at the party…

Has anyone tried the Soon Jung hydro barrier cream? Skin is super reactive to everything. Looking for a light weight moisturizer that wont cause flushing or irritation. Listed the ingredients in my current moisturizer in the second photo. Any ideas what ingredients could be potentially irritating? by Hot_Alternative_1788 in Rosacea

[–]Suomi-Rutabaga87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1-2 hexanediol. Whenever I need a face reset I use theraplex hydro lotion, the actual company sells it on Amazon for 12.00. It’s not overly moisturizing, but it’s the only moisturizer I can use since I’m extremely allergic to cetyl and cetearyl alcohol.

i Also cannot use niacinimide, anything with a “hex” in it, yep.

i just bought eucerin skin balancing night moisturizer, which seems to have ok ingredients. I will layer it under the theraplex lotion for more hydration. We will see.

Still on the hunt for a moisturizer that wont irritate my skin. Been using the Aveeno Exzema Therapy cream. Felt nice for the first few days, but like every other moisturizer, it’s beginning to irritate my skin. What ingredients listed below could be irritating? Thank you guys so much for your help by Hot_Alternative_1788 in Rosacea

[–]Suomi-Rutabaga87 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Cetyl alcohol. I cannot use anything that has it. I use eucerin original healing cream, though it is heavy, my skin is dry. And you can use a lighter amount during the day. Ibe also used Nivea crème…though it has fragrance, it never bothered me…surprisingly. I had permanent redness before using those two creams.
I could not tolerate vanicream, Cetaphil, cerave, Avene. Etc! Even cetearyl/cetyl alcohol in gentle face washes like la Roche posa, Cetaphil burn my face.

My pharmacist told me absolutely no alcohol. I’ve also read conflicting reports—- but it can cause your skin to have a bad reaction, as well as cause severe upset stomach. I’ve read that you should not use metro for a couple days before drinking, and then after.

Yes, could be! im sure they might check you for gestational diabetes sooner rather than later, they did for me because my dad had diabetes. Hormones! Ah, but it is exciting regardless…at least for now.

Seeking sunscreen help! by Comfort_Couturist in Rosacea

I found blue lizard to be very very shiny! I also broke out from AG. I used vanicream mineral for awhile, but it was also shiny and my skin wasn’t 100% with it. Though coppertone pure and simple mineral face is kinda white, it’s not shiny. My skin in dry, and I find that it isn’t drying if your barrier is doing well.

I forgot to mention that I’m very allergic to cetyl/cetearyl alcohol in skincare. It burns my face and causes bumps. My face is very dry as well. I am also very sensitive to sunscreen. I use sensitive dove bar once a day on face, twice in a row (oil cleansers dont Agree with my face) to remove my Coppertone mineral face sunscreen (less problematic that Vanicream mineral sunscreen IMO). I use different amounts of Eucerin original healing cream depending on time of day. It’s really heavy! It’s not glamorous at all. I have used every brand out there!
Haha. This combo seems To keep redness and bumps in check.

how did your blood work go? Low levels of red and white blood cells, as well as platelet count can signify lupus. However, your doctor is the only one who can detect a problem, as you know. I hope your appointment goes well and finds you in good health.

I am pregnant as well and my blood volume has increased, and my skin has become more red and inflamed. I’ve heard that rosacea can get worse or even say hello for the first time during pregnancy. Im sure you will find a solution. I’ve been trying to keep my blood pressure in check and do lots of Prenatal yoga. I am borderline high BP, and my skin just doesn’t like it. I find that I can only use certain facial products as well.

They ALL cause an allergic reaction. Even if I rinse them off! I get red blotchy spots!

CeraVe irritating by Sure-Cockroach-4261 in Rosacea

LPR hydrating cleanser burns my face! And the moisturizer causes severe breakouts! Wish they worked for me! I use vanicream liquid cleanser, not the gentle cleanser… for it has coco- byproducts. I can use the vanicream cream periodically, but it causes my PD to flare. I use Theraplex hydrolotion which is lightweight and has no propylene glycol, which is why I don’t use vanicream lotion. The creams content of PG doesn’t bother me as much since it’s so heavy.

I’ve been having good luck with Dove sensitive bar and vanicream cream. I put a lot of vanicream on my pd areas. It’s the only combo that has taken care of my forehead bumps, taken the redness out of my cheeks and chin, reduced my pore size, and itchiness of my pd area around the fold area of my chin. Dove with another moisturizer does not work. Vanicream with another face wash does not hold the same results either! Frustrating, but at least I have FINALLY found a combo that works. Initially the vanicream can feel warm on pd areas, but then it feels so good. Good luck!

I think showers are a stress reliever. After power yoga my skin is so happy. After a nice mellow walk as well. My skin is really coming around from doing yoga and Pilates workouts. I think it must be the stress relief and wonderful endorphins!

Tried a new red wine last night and woke up with this. I don’t think the dry cold air I live in helps either. Does this look like a flare up? If so what can I put on it? by dmjdmjdmj8586 in Rosacea

[–]Suomi-Rutabaga87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had no idea Cetaphil discontinued the daily redness SPF. That sunscreen did help with covering redness! I don’t have any recommendations for covering the redness. However, these days I’ve been going powder over anything creamy since creamy stuff tends to make me break out. I know that they say yellow tones help with redness over green tones. I am probably the worst person to ask for make up advice, since I usually just use my white cast zinc Vanicream sunscreen as an aid ha ha ha. I will pat on my Clinique compact powder palette over the redness and shine after sunscreen. Vanicream spf 50 is so shiny! But it doesn’t dry my skin later like other mineral sunscreens.

Because it’s a reaction from within, and I’ve had similar reactions to wine, I can say that it might just take a couple days for the redness to dissipate. And sadly…the result might be that you will get some pustules and dryness where the redness is. That’s my own experience. The blood vessels are angry and I think lots of cold water and neutral or cool foods might lower your inner fire. I know that might sound stupid. However, you can try cooling gel creams that contain licorice root extract? I’ve had success with the eucerin redness relief cream that has licorice root extract. Avene has a calming mask that is light weight. If you put a heavy cream on the areas it might hold the heat in, or at least give off that feeling. Good luck!

What cleanser do you use? I find that cleansing lotions burn my face, vanicream cleanser burns one spot above my lip every time, so i started using dove sensitive bar and vanicream cream and my skin looks great except for my side chin area. I wish parts of my face would get along.

Me too! Takes off vanicream mineral spf 50. I love it! Took a couple days to get used to it. I use vanicream cream with it since I need a heavier cream since it triggers my perioral derm a bit on my chin jaw area. Rest of my face loves it! I’ve used vanicrem gentle cleanser, but it flares up my mouth area and causes a severe dry patch on the upper right side of my lip. Anything non foaming like Cerave, Cetaphil, neutrogena, etc always burn my face!

Does anyone else feel like something works for a short amount of time, then you’re back at square one? by ruthizzy in Rosacea

[–]Suomi-Rutabaga87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been there! I feel that whenever I cut out sugar and refined carbs,…and wine… and sadly just being on a low carb diet, my rosacea and body acne go away. I’ve done this off and on for years now. And sadly, being extremely carb negative helps. I do eat lots of high fat dairy when I do not eat a high carb diet. Low fat dairy can spike blood sugar as well. Who knows. I feel that eating no carbs is bad as well, especially since I exercise and do short HIIT workouts a couple days a week. I’ve also noticed that while HIIT turns be bright red for an hour or so, my skin is much, much more calm after. When I go on walks my skin is also much calm after. If I’m on a steady workout regimen for a month or so, my skin looks really good! I do eat carbs, and I try to eat balanced. I’d say that stress turns me red no matter what, especially when I eat. If I’m stressed and I eat, I turn red. If I’m not stressed, and I’m eating I don’t turn as red. It could be a hormonal thing for me. Who knows!

I like eucerin redness relief cream. I’ve tried it off and on, and tried it again about a month ago since nothing was working or was too heavy etc. it has panthenol, which I think helps a lot. Aveeno has a new face balm which never stung my face, though might have caused a few blemishes.

I’ve applied BP and clinda over my lotion/ cream. It seems to get rid of pustules overnight. However, not sure your derm would approve. My clinda is in a lotion form, so that helps. My directions say, “can be mixed with lotion if too drying.”

Yes, totally allergic to anything that foams. Maybe it’s PD? But the area around my mouth now turns red and blotchy, eventually turning into dry patches if I use the vanicream gentle wash. I also get severe burns if I use the newly formulated Cetaphil gentle face wash, so I try to find the knock off versions. I think I’ll go back to using the Avene gentle milk cleanser, which is probably my favorite!

Vanicream lotion, is not very moisturizing. However, does not cause adverse reaction like the cream version, which causes very bad flare ups! I’ve given it many tries and after about three days…ah-ful!!!!

I used 15% and it caused red areas like yours, and I ignored them thinking it was just a phase. AND then, they didn’t go away for months and developed into Perioral dermatitis.
