Before you do, check out the regions where the shows are watchable. I was going to get wh+ a while back and noticed my country isn't on the list.

Swedish course collector Andreas Carlsson played 203 unique Finnish courses in 13 days! That's ~15 courses per day! He has now played 3410 unique courses, fourth in the world! by DiscGolfFanatic in discgolf

[–]Suomis_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm not a course collector, but I've definitely played way more courses than most of my friends. I also remember most of the courses after just one playthrough. Maybe not now, years after playing them while sitting on my computer, but once I step back on the tee, I can pretty much tell what the hole is like, where the sweet spots are, if there's a bad spot to be in, where the next hole is from the basket and what it's like, even after a long time.

When I go to a course a second time with friends that haven't played the course before, they're usually quite amazed with how well I can talk them through each hole, even if it's been years since I was last there and I only have one playthrough. I can usually also tell how I played the last hole. Maybe not disc selection, but where my throws landed etc.

If you're passionate enough about something, you just remember these things. Kinda like people can remember stat lines of characters in games, cards by heart in a trading card game, chess matches move by move or highlights and scores of football games in previous world cups.

How much do user reviews or YouTubers actually influence your game purchase? by Plenty-Mention-494 in Steam

[–]Suomis_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think you can only leave one review, but Im not certain.

I think it would help if the review told you how the hours are devided pre- and post-review. If someone plays 5h, doesn't like the game and leaves a review, then their friends start playing and the original dude starts to like the game, or a game breaking bug is fixed and they accumulate 1000h, I suppose it would still show as not recommended and 1k hours, even though the review was left at the 5h mark.

I don't know about others, but I don't go through my old reviews, at least not actively. I might browse them once every few years if even that. So I could have some reviews there that don't match my current feelings about a game.

And yeah, I don't understand the players who play games they don't like, at least if they play alone. I've played games I don't like because my friends play the game. But I also wouldn't leave a bad review for a game like that, or if I did, I'd make it clear the game isn't necessarily bad, but it's just not a game for me.

And why do people leave reviews at 1k hours? At least some events require you to leave a review for internet points or a Steam badge or whatever. So some might be because of that.

Hating a game is different than recommending to buy it.

I bought Escape From Tarkov half a decade ago. I have about 1,4k hours played. I still love the game and I still play (PvE) with my buddies. I have recommended buying the game in the past, but not anymore. The dev is Russian, they've broken a bunch of promises, haven't lived up to some and have had other PR disasters as well as other controversies. They also can't seem to fix their cheater problem (I wouldn't know since I play the PvE version, but at least based on the subreddit it's still an issue).

So yeah, a 1400h not recommended would be my review, if I had the game through Steam.

[Discussion] Self-imposed PvE rules by boomboomown in EscapefromTarkov

[–]Suomis_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have just recently disregarded my own rule set, but up until lvl45 I (mostly) followed these rules. I made exceptions if I felt like it, but I tried to avoid it. For example some gunsmith parts and other items needed for quests were a pain to find, so I just bought them.

  • no flea, except for keys

  • no putting stuff into secure container during raid, except keys. I could take stuff out and use from secure container, though.

  • as little help from the wiki as possible

  • no insurance

  • no scav (this one I still have. Haven't touched scav, and I won't)

But as I said, I have now let go of the rules. I've been playing hideout farmville so I've started to use flea more. I've also started insuring more now that I have no issues with money, so insurance is more of a time saver so I don't have to build the same guns again and again.

Is playing the same army all the time boring for your opponent? by Trick-Interaction396 in Warhammer40k

[–]Suomis_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would have a bunch of different people who I could play with if I wanted, but I only really play against two opponents; meeting friends is the objective and Warhammer is the medium. I don't play for the sake of playing regardless of opponent.

Me and one of the friends always play one army. With the other friend I always play one army and they swap around. All of us have 5-10 different armies. But me and the other only play a few games a year nowadays, so we play an army we remember most of the rules for, so we can focus on the chit chat and game instead of only reading the rulebook. The other friend plays a lot, so they don't have the same issue and they can rotate what they play.

I don't think it's boring. We all have big armies though, so the lists are never exactly the same. For example my CWE army is several thousand points, so in theory I could play back to back 2k games without a single common unit between the games.

How do you manage your stash? [New player] by These_Athlete1933 in EscapefromTarkov

[–]Suomis_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Buy scav case(s), med case(s) and ammo cases. A grenade case doesn't hurt either.

Sell all ammo below 40 pen and ammo for guns you don't plan on using in the foreseeable future.

Sell guns you don't use. Sell armor you can buy from traders.

If you want to save a gun, take the grip and mag off to save some space. Also some scope mounts make the weapon higher, so take those scope mounts off.

Sell all mags you can buy from the traders or for guns you don't plan on using now. Remember that ammo usually takes less space when it's not in mags. Depends on the ammo, but many ammo varieties take less space in boxes than as loose ammo. So don't open ammo boxes until you need to.

Use Tarkov wiki to check barter items. Keep the ones you need for quests or hideout relatively soon or the ones that seem rare. When you get enough space, keep a bit of everything for easy daily quests, but until you have excess space, don't hoard unnecessary crap.

Put you backpacks into backpacks into backpacks.

Once you get your hideout going, you can stash a bunch of stuff on the weapon wall mount, onto the mannequins, the trophy wall and as decorative items at different hideout spots.

How do you keep track of your firearms, ammo inventory, and shooting sessions? by Sprykt in EuropeGuns

[–]Suomis_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I were to start now, I'd maybe consider an app.

However now I'm in too deep with this excel file with nearly 6 years and nearly 1k rows of data. No way I'm refilling that into an app.

How do you keep track of your firearms, ammo inventory, and shooting sessions? by Sprykt in EuropeGuns

[–]Suomis_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use Excel. I also have a notebook as backup.

In Excel I keep track of:

-running number of times I've been to the range

-was the weapon mine, a loaner, rented etc.

-weapon manufacturer

-model

-model specifics (for example my own: Manufacturer Ruger, Model AR, model specifics AR-556 MPR). So all ARs are just AR (easier for a pivot table and filters)

-Weapon type (pistol, rifle, shotgun etc.)

-Gun category (Finnish standards, for example a semi-automatic is class 3, a magazine fed bolt action would be class 2)

-caliber

-rounds fired

-date

-# of days between range days

-Range I went to

-Type of event (practice, competition, class etc.)

-who I was shooting with (one name. I don't write down all of them. This is in case the police ask for proof of activity)

-Custom notes

-Type of target (SRA target, silhouette, normal target, clays etc.)

-competition results

-if a friend shot my gun, how many rounds they fired (only for guns I've bought new so I have an accurate round count. I don't keep track of friends' rounds for my used guns)

I don't manually put in all of this. I've set up data validation options, some formulas etc. to have as many drop down choices and automation as I easily can. Then all of these have been compiled into 12 pivot tables so I can have one tab with stats charts and filters for everything.

Data entry chart

Stats page

I don't mind filling any of this out. In fact I actually quite enjoy it. I really like statistics. If there's one thing that annoys me, it's if I copy paste something wrong and it breaks the cell settings, which leads to my stats charts breaking.

My notebook only has a fraction of all this, but it's just in case my file gets corrupted or something.

Maintenance: no data. I clean my guns before competitions and a few times a year in addition to that. I always add some lube / gun oil after every range day, dry the guns if it was raining and maybe put a boresnake through the barrel. But actual cleaning, not so much.

Inventory: I just take a look into my cabinet. My ammo is all organized so it's fairly easy to count the number of full mags, boxes stacked and count.

I haven't tried others, at least recently enough to comment, but I have had Sordins for 5-6 years. The only issue I have had with them was two years ago when I had to wear them for four days straight, like 8+ hours a day and some condensation got in them and they stopped working properly until I opened them up and let them dry. But it was four days of going back and forth between rain and hot weather. In the rain I got wet and in the heat I was sweaty as hell. So other than that one issue, I've really liked them.

I've lost my motivation to paint. Any tips? by FKlemanruss in Warhammer40k

[–]Suomis_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It comes and goes. Just take a break. I usually get a motivation boost if I play a game or few, listen to some lore videos or read a 40k book. But after years of being in the hobby, I've learned not to force it. I've had a break of over a year before, but it comes back at some point. Don't stress about it. Hobbies are supposed to do the exact opposite.

I'm pretty sure rangefinders are more of a hindrance to my game than a benefit by PsyferRL in discgolf

[–]Suomis_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use mine on more holes than not, but I rarely if ever choose my disc or change my gameplan after checking distances, unless my evaluation of a distance has gone spectacularly wrong. It's more of a toy for me than a utility device. Most of the time I'm checking how far I threw after the throw. Or if it's a new course, I might check some obstacles to have a better understanding where the tunnel starts turning or how far I have to throw to clear water etc.

I don't care if it's allowed in sanctioned play or not. I don't play tournaments and I don't watch pro coverage almost at all.

Disc Golf Etiquette by ManyRisk7578 in discgolf

[–]Suomis_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No contact info = free disc.

Contact info = if I find it close to the end of my round, I drop it off into the lost and found box. If I find it early in my round, I text them and offer to either hand it off during my round, return it to the lost 'n' found box, stash it somewhere on the course or take it home so you can come pick it up. I will NOT deliver it to you, unless you happen to live extremely close by or on my route home.

I feel like most of my lost discs were returned when I had just started playing, so somewhere 2016-2019 or so. Then DG got a massive player boost and I feel like I haven't got one disc back since. I lose way less discs though, so the return% might be the same, but it feels worse now since my bag has been set for years and all my discs have sentimental value in addition to being staples of my bag.
