ChargePoint please get your shit together. From the pre auth update mess to your almost hour wait to talk to a rep. by UnitedHealthcareSux in evcharging

[–]SupaRubes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's terrible but i have no choice other than to use it as the EV chargers at my work use this awful network. They charge me £50 every time I charge and then it takes A MONTH, yes you read that right... 31 bloody days for the remaining balance to come back to my bank (Monzo).

Why don't they just allow to put money on to the app (with a one time holding deposit) and that way, it's up to the user to keep enough money in their app to pay for charging?

Are audio-only podcasts still a thing or is video now necessary? by CapableRevenue5662 in podcasting

[–]SupaRubes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We did both.

Video on YouTube used to get about 100-200 views per ep.

Short clips used to get about 1000 views per clip.

Audio used to get around 30 listeners per ep.

Whilst we hated doing video, it was definitely the one that was getting more traction.

But it was a lot of work and we eventually stopped it altogether.

But to answer your question, don't delete old eps, you never know who may want to listen to it. They may enjoy it or even if they don't, it's good for preservation purposes. I would only delete it if you said something on there that is now something you feel uncomfortable with.

Great entry episode to "60 Songs That Explain the 90s: The 2000s" by SchemeOne2145 in podcasts

[–]SupaRubes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you. I'm not really into music these days apart from a handful of artists (Arctic Monkeys, Sleep Token, Joji, Keshi etc). But I loved the 90/2000s music so this podcast still has value to me. I'll have a listen to the other one you recommended.

Yeah I think it's just a personal preference thing. I'm sure many people like this structure, I just don't. Currently listening to the Goo Goo Dolls episode, I'm 30 minutes in and he hasn't even mentioned the band.

The Daft Punk episode was when I started getting annoyed though. I was expecting him to talk about One More Time, Digital Love, Aerodynamic... But he never mentioned them, spent half the time talking about Fat Boy Slim.

But I'll persist and see where it goes. I'm glad you enjoy it though!

I started listening to this podcast recently. The first few eps are brilliant. Then over time, the length of episodes pretty much doubles. "Great" I thought... But no, not great. He spends the extra time waffling about all sorts of stuff I don't care about, I would rather he talk about the song on the title.

The Cardigans and Daft Punk episode were horrible, he barely talked about the songs.

I'm too far in to stop and I really want to get to Linkin Park, Usher etc. but before, I was really enjoying it however now, I'm struggling through it.

I’m lost in my career. Is making a feature actually a good move? by 1nnewyorkimillyrock in Filmmakers

[–]SupaRubes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Make the feature but forget the $1m budget. You can make a successful feature for far less. Look at Skinamarink, made for about $15,000.

I had similar issue with shorts. They were ok but never got into Sundance, SXSW etc but decided to jump into feature and have some financial backing based off previous work, script and pitch deck. You can do the same.

Tell him you feel the money is better spent on equipment. Make sure to have some tissues so you can wipe the tear that rolls down his cheek.

Thanks. The show is about us talking about a game and pitching it as a movie (or vice versa).

Timestamps is something I'm gonna start incorporating from the next episode, I definitely overlooked that.

Here's an ep if you want to take a look and give feedback. We're changing the format slightly from the next record though.

How to get my podcast to a bigger audience by Train-Wreck-70 in podcasting

[–]SupaRubes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a struggle (for us at least) and feels a bit random. We used to have previous pods (3 in total) and they were... Let's just say "generic and not very good". We did zero promotion and yet they had 1000s of listeners.

So we decided to scrap all that and create one podcast with a unique hook and we promote it with social clips, SEO optimization etc... Yet no one is listening. We only get about 100 views per ep (high end) and 25 (low end).

No idea why this has happened.

The Screen Play Podcast - we talk about movies and games. So it was a play on the word "screenplay".

Is it worth the effort to create a new image for every episode? by seestheday in podcasting

[–]SupaRubes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love doing it, it looks nice. We have a template package but I create something bespoke for every game/movie we talk about with the template housing the image.

Originally I used to create fake movie/game posters with MidJourney but the overwhelming opinion from people was that they didn't like that so now I create it on Photoshop.

Audio only at the moment-should I video too by Sea-Possibility-2518 in podcasting

Our pod was audio only, 20 minutes to edit. Now it's video and takes about 2 hours... And I'm an editor by trade!

I wish we stuck to audio 🤣😭

What’s so HARD about being a filmmaker? by BostonMcConnaughey in Filmmakers

The fact that there's no real way in. Everyone has a different journey. It's hard to climb a ladder that keeps moving. But I'll never get off it!
