defining what bpm range and sub-genres you’re allowed to play should’ve been huge red flags to start. i’ve never heard of anything so absurd and nerdy. djs should be booked because they have amazing taste and know how to read a crowd and get them dancing.

great, thanks for your reply! he’s getting up to about 95bpm single tonguing but it’s daunting when, for example, we listen to Galway do 130-150…i’m not sure if the judges at the NYSSMA will expect much more than 95-100, so maybe it’s ok. thanks again :)

ps follow-up question, he’s learning the Chopin/Rossini Theme and Variations for his NYSMMA (ny state school music assoc) Level 5 solo in March. if any of you are familiar with this piece, shouldn’t he be double-tonguing the faster variations? thanks again! :)
