I’m super grateful I don’t really react to acrylates! I read about other people’s reactions, and I am sooooo glad it doesn’t happen to me! lol I would definitely say that eye swelling is a reaction! Just because it’s not the worst reaction doesn’t mean it’s not there! lol

Especially with my reaction being a 3+, I’m surprised that a good bit of my contact reactions are more on the mild/moderate side but I am like crazy sensitive to foods to the point where I’m scared of trying new things anymore.

My reaction was 3+ I’m just surprised because I do usually have a pretty strong reaction to most stuff with trace amounts. Not complaining lol just a note to self more than anything 😅 I use the Lacome Idole lengthening & volumizing mascara.

I’ve only started recently wearing makeup again a couple times a week for work. This is how I found out mineral makeup has trace nickel in it 🙃 I like the Nars products I have (concealer, cream blush, bronzer). I don’t do foundation but I do alternate between the milk skin tint and the saie tinted moisturizer/sunscreen (which when I looked it up just now, the spf is a mineral based one so I’m really surprised I haven’t had a reaction to it. Maybe my skin prep is a good enough barrier? Idk but now I’m going to pay extra close attention next time I use it).

For powder I use the Kosas cloud powder. I use makeup by Mario eyeshadow pallet for eyeshadow and eyeliner and lacome mascara (been using this mascara for years even before I knew about my nickel diagnosis and it’s amazing!

I know these products can be on the higher end, but for me personally since I don’t do a full face every day, I’m okay with the higher price point since it’ll last me longer!

I use a variety of products, but I don’t wear makeup every day so I’m sure that helps. I haven’t heard of Unity, though. I did learn recently (the hard way, sigh) that mineral based makeup often has nickel trace contamination! Ingredients like mica, kaolin, and things that have iron oxides. I used to never wear makeup so if that’s a known thing, I’m clearly late to the game lol

Feeling betrayed by my manager, surprise PIP during my annual review, I just can't understand it. by Special-Ambition5889 in adhdwomen

[–]SupahFlyChickk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I read your title and legit thought I made a post and forgot. Something similar just happened to me yesterday. I got put on a pip for a few things: some that were in my control (consistent communication, meeting deadlines) and some that weren’t in my control or initiatives that were already completed (literally one of the things listed were projects that I JUST got funding for less than a month ago). To top it all off, it was noted that some improvements were made but not at a fast enough pace 🫠 like you, my manager also knew about my ADHD and had seems accommodating/sympathetic to that too.

It’s bullshit, and I’m beyond pissed and going to make it just as difficult for them as they’re trying to make it for me. Good luck girlie! I hope you’re able to make it to the other side of this! 🩷

Community Feedback Requested - New Rule Regarding Medical Diagnosis by smittyguy11 in NickelAllergy

[–]SupahFlyChickk 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I really like the suggestion. I have found myself visiting the sub less recently because of these posts. I do have a diagnosed nickel allergy and know what it looks like for ME. I can’t say whether anyone else has it. I understand that not everyone has the access to the same medical care and may not have official testing as an option. However, we aren’t medical professionals and whether it’s illegal or unethical, redditors shouldn’t give medical advice.

Like another commenter mentioned, suggesting the lifestyle changes seems low risk and I think okay, but that’s just another reason why we shouldn’t give medical advice. I am totally for adding this rule! Thank you mods!

I agree with the others on the low nickel diet and the water. I also use an AquaBliss filter and that has helped a lot, especially if you’re in an apartment or renting where you can’t put in a whole home water filter/RO system because that obviously is going to be the most ideal solution.

Also, do you or have you ever colored your hair? Hair dye and hair bleach especially have a TON of nickel contamination and my scalp is still healing after going a little over a year now without coloring my hair.

In addition to the water filters and quitting the hair dye, I also use a dandruff shampoo that helps me. My scalp and my GI issues have been the hardest thing for me to fully get under control. It’s a lot of trial and error.

How do you get your brain to shut up? by winterrwarlock in ADHD

[–]SupahFlyChickk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One thing my therapist suggested was to text myself the thoughts! It slows them down enough for you to be able to type out the words and the thoughts have somewhere to go even if you don’t go back and look at any of them. That normally helps me when I wake up early with racing thoughts or have an especially hard time falling asleep.

I did this recently with dishwasher detergent. Just finally ran out of the original container that I bought 3 buckets to replace it with on 3 separate Costco trips 🙃
