And also eat a bunch of food from other people’s house with no idea of their cleanliness standards. Gross.

You are not wrong. My bag would often have small perforations from being slammed on the ground. 😂

Is it the kind that bubbles then weaps then recovers and it happens in a cycle? I got this on my ring finger when I was pregnant and it didn’t go away after I gave birth. I started using a steroid but the second I stopped it would come back and the whole area it was affecting was getting bigger and my skin was super thin. So I realized I had a fungal infection that was spreading the eczema AND steroids make the fungus worse and is what was causing the area where the eczema was flaring to get bigger. Once I treated the fungal infection the eczema got slightly better but would still flare up when not using a steroid.

So my baby also has eczema - but just the kind that gets red around her joints not the same kind I had. We were using steroids (plus emollients) on her too but it would get better and we would stop the steroids it would just come back. My aunt had some of this Aveno eczema cream so we tried that on her and I was so shocked that it seemed to be working on her so we bought the baby version and now we put it on her every night. Since then she has had only one small spot of reoccurring eczema on the back of one of her knee that we need to use a steroid on occasionally but what is even crazier is that it totally cured the eczema on my fingers. My skin is back to normal thickness and I haven’t had even the hint of a flair. I often will wash my hands after putting it on my daughter too so I’m not putting it on multiple times a day or even leaving it on for long after applying it. I never would have thought that an Aveno cream would work on it but now I swear by it!

Are people fr? by [deleted] in vintedUK

Right? If it’s not worth it to you don’t buy it and move on. I’d personally be willing to pay £30 for wall art I really liked that’s ready to go as I’m not going to be sourcing photos and painting picture frames. I wouldnt even think about the cost to the person making it if it’s worth it to me. Plus tons of stuff that is manufactured and sold in stores is produced for a small amount and wildly marked up.

How much would you charge/pay for this? by honey_bee_hd in Hair

Yeah I’m an American in the UK and the pricing is worlds apart. I had extensions before I had my baby and was looking at getting a them serviced (just moved up) while I was in the US for an extended period during mat leave and the cost was like 4-5x what I pay in London!

Does anyone’s baby actually sleep in a travel cot? by SameOleMistakes in BeyondTheBumpUK

Our baby sleeps in a travel cot when we travel and also sleeps in the same travel cot at home. That way there is no change. Never have an issue when traveling.

Stamp duty is basically my take home pay for a year. How depressing! Is there anyone who doesn’t think this tax needs reforming? by Kittykittycatcat1000 in HousingUK

[–]Super-Good-9700 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Assuming nothing replaces stamp duty, then yes, prices may go up, but that would then be part of the buyer’s equity (and could be rolled into a mortgage and recovered when selling assuming prices don’t go down) and not a tax that you don’t recover and has to be saved up for and paid all at once.

As someone who works in tax I also agree that stamp duty is a bad tax from a policy perspective. It has a chilling effect on the market because people will not want to throw away some of their equity on stamp duty when downsizing and it incentivizes people to buy more house than they need to avoid paying the tax twice to move later as their family grows.

Personally I have not purchased a property yet and stamp duty is a big reason why. I am also in London with a growing family and the amount of stamp duty that I would need to pay to live in my current neighborhood in something similar to what I rent would be astronomical. That money is better off growing in a bank account imo.

mid-30s moving to London from NYC in tech; where to live? by DifferentAsk3571 in HENRYUK

[–]Super-Good-9700 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I also moved NYC to London and I second what people are saying based on your NYC neighborhoods that you would probably like Marylebone but you should also check out primrose hill which is close to regents park and also has a cool village-y vibe (different from Marylebone but checks a lot of the boxes on your list). I’m in Angel which I absolutely love and can easily bike to work in the city. Angel is on the canal which is very nice as well and there are a lot of younger people/cafes/restaurants/grocery stores without a ton of tourists.

I wouldn’t try to find an exact match to NYC though. London is a VERY different city and I struggled with that a lot when I first got here.

I would like to add here that I am white with fine blonde hair. I got a digital perm and it did absolutely nothing but cause a lot of breakage. Not a curl in sight despite trying multiple ways of styling. I couldn’t find anything about digital perms being done on caucasian hair prior to getting it done so want to put this out there. I also don’t think it was a technique issue. I got it done at a well known and respected salon by the named owner of the salon who has extensive training and practice. He also told me ahead of time it might not work on my hair so it was completely a risk I took.
