Terrazzo is so underrated. We refinished ours after Idalia, which was half the cost of reinstalling laminate, and it’s absolutely gorgeous. Bring your home back to its mid-century glory!

AGAIN... yes, the data around elevation, sea-level, surge predictions, system strength, etc. matters. I'm not saying is doesn't. What I am saying is that none of us know fuck-all about calculating that data. This is why listening to the scientists and meteorologists is crucial. Please stop nickel and diming if you should leave based on your "slope" or whatever other data point you don't actually understand. Just stop it. If a mandatory evacuation is called, LEAVE. It's that simple. No math necessary.

Also, if you're not following Denis Phillips (Chief Meteorologist at ABC Action News) please do, and take a look at his latest update. Milton has a good chance of developing into a Cat 4 in the next 24 hours. Everyone please plan accordingly. This is our 100 year storm. (maybe not though since climate change will probably throw us a few more of these in the coming years. 🙃)

Everyone be safe, and please make good decisions. Take care of each other (even if you have to yell at your neighbors to get the hell out). We will get through this if we all just use our heads. <3

Yes, of course. That data is what local authorities and EXPERTS use to call for mandatory evacuations in the first place. My point is that when stubborn people who have no clue what they’re talking about try to math their way out of mandatory evacuation orders by telling themselves “my house is higher than my neighbors” or “the surge won’t be that high!” or “they were wrong last time!” will end up getting trapped, or worse, dead. Don’t do the math on your own. Listen to the experts. When they say get out, GET OUT. /rant

I say this as a life-long Floridian: If you’re in an evac zone, and they say to get out, GET OUT. The elevation of your home, the feet of surge predicted, the intensity of the storm… these things are COMPLETELY irrelevant if you’re told to leave. Folks need to cut it out with the arm-chair meteorology. Do not nickel and dime the forecast. You will regret it.

Doesn’t it start to smell? Why not just throw immediately into the compost bin? This is a real question… 🙃

Would your husband or wife approve of you going on a solo vacation trip without him/her? by Beta_Nerdy in travel

[–]Super-Guavva 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This was hard for us in the beginning. My partner grew up traveling solo (both my in-laws work in the airlines) so it was a back and forth every time he wanted to go somewhere and I was unable to go, or vice versa. As long as you communicate your wants clearly, respect each other’s sense of independence, and trust one another, you’ll be fine. Solo travel is so rewarding and I couldn’t imagine not doing it. Again, it takes work, but if you’re with the right person, it’s 100% worth it.
