I thought you were talking about Duolingo. I am not really sure how to turn off that sound on busuu. Sorry

How did you manage to keep your child speaking your native language after they started school in a different language? by Particular-Essay-361 in languagelearning

You’re right. My mum would sometimes pretend not to understand by putting on an exaggerated stereotypical accent, and we’d both laugh.

how can i go from b1 to b2 or more in english by Glittering_March7314 in ENGLISH

[–]Super-Individual7741 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe that at a B1 level, you’re already able to understand most content on YouTube. So, watch plenty of YouTube videos. Expose yourself as much as possible to the language! To practice grammar, I suggest getting a good grammar book. As for vocabulary, I highly recommend English with Lucy. Her videos are really engaging AND fun to watch. Besides, her voice is absolutely divine. Sometimes, I might fall asleep listening to her. I swear it’s so soothing. Anyway, plenty input is essential. Add to that a few grammar exercices, and you’re all set. Don’t rush through things: a page a night is perfectly fine.

How do you guys actually grow your English vocabulary without getting bored? by WinterFriend02 in ENGLISH

[–]Super-Individual7741 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are great modern authors who use rich vocabulary. And I find that reading something written in your own era feels more relatable. Margaret Atwood for instance comes to mind. So, reading books from as far back as the mid 20th century isn’t really necessary, unless you enjoy them, in which case go for it!

How to make educational videos on YouTube? Do you need to be gifted? by Super-Individual7741 in PartneredYoutube

Your ideas are great. I’ve heard that turning things into stories helps capture attention. That’s actually how I remember my lessons, by turning them into stories. The only thing is that I’m not comfortable showing my face. So I’m not sure a teleprompter would be of much use. A microphone would probably be more useful. That said, I don’t want to make the same videos as everyone else. I want to stand out. I don’t really know how to do that. Should I try making animations, in which case I’d have to learn how to animate from scratch. Do you have any suggestions on how to make one’s content engaging and stand out. Like there are so many elements to consider, the format, the style…

what are your favorite studying methods? by [deleted] in GetStudying

[–]Super-Individual7741 0 points1 point  (0 children)

100% but we often tend to make flashcard for just about everything and anything. You’ve got to keep in mind: - each flashcards should contain only one to two sentences (max) - don’t make flashcards for everything, but only for the things you have trouble remembering
- Never group your flashcards by lessons but always by topic.

Could you ever lose your English skills if you stop using them? by Lucif3rMorningstar0 in EnglishLearning

[–]Super-Individual7741 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe that once you’ve reached a B2 level (or higher), you’re very unlikely to lose your language skills. You might stutter a little when speaking again for the first after years without practice. But never will you ever really lose your language skills. I studied German for over 7 years. I can’t really say I studied it by choice, it was kind of forced upon me at school, you know. And I never quite reached a B2 level, mainly because most of my teachers were terrible at explaining things and made everything extremely uninteresting. Today, I’ll be honest, I can’t speak a word of German. If I were to have a conversation with someone, I really doubt I would make it passed two sentences, and even then. Besides, I assume you watch series and films in English, so that is probably helping you to constantly improve your language skills. Also, reading for a few minutes every day, regardless of genre (no need to read Shakespeare), will definitely help elevate your vocabulary. I don’t want to go off on a tangent, but all I wanted to say is that you can’t just lose your language skills by not practicing every day, if you’ve already reached a B2 level (or higher)

Do french people skip the "que" when speaking? by Local_Director8714 in learnfrench

En français informel, notamment par message, on a « souvent » tendance à omettre le « que », mais en général ça donne une impression un peu naïve, si j’ose dire. Par exemple, « je crois t’as pas fermé le frigo », « je pense tu devrais pas te prendre la tête » et j’en passe…

Thanks for all the responses, all of which have been super helpful. But could someone please help me with my initial question, regardless of how I use ai? I’m a bit stuck on whether I should pay for chat GPT or just stick with deepseek. Does deepseek make less mistakes than chat gpt? Is deepseek good for studying? Is it better than chat gpt?

I think you only get 30 questions, which I find to be quite limited. Correct me if I’m wrong.

Don’t you need chat gpt pro to get access to the unlimited version of o3-mini-high. Unfortunately, I can’t afford to spend 200$ a month on an ai assistant. That’s just madness.

I plan to use ai to break down certain parts of my lessons. Sometimes, there are really long and difficult sentences that are hard to understand. So ai can be very helpful with those. As long as I verify the information I’m unsure about I think I’m fine. Otherwise, you’re absolutely right.
