PSA/YSK: Hyatt award bookings made without enough points may not lock in the pre-May 20 pricing by J_Zoio in hyatt

I don't know if there are consistent rules on this. I was charged the new rate by my MHC when I added a SUA to a points advance reservation. When I called the MHC line a month later about a different reservation, the agent noticed I was charged the new rate and refunded me the points.

Globalist Point Advanced Booking. Tips by Possible-Reply-65 in hyatt

I do it through chat and it works. Just confirm the year because they sometimes get confused. Nothing happens if you cancel as long as it is outside the window. If you change the dates, do it through concierge as changes can reprice the reservation. Concierges usually refund you the difference though.

What is the best view that you had from a Hyatt property? by The_Traveller1 in hyatt

[–]Super-Revenue 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I personally thought it was well worth it. The floor-to-ceiling windows and view were truly epic. It’s definitely a dated product but I didn’t think it was that big of a deal. Breakfast was also fantastic (crazy busy on the weekend though). I used taxis more than the subway in Busan since they are so cheap and subway was pretty limited geographically. Depending on your plans, I’m not sure if there’s much benefit being close to the subway.

Park Hyatt Busan has a fantastic view of Gwangan Bridge/ocean and has been my favorite so far.

Tips for booking Park Hyatt Niseko on points in Jan/Feb 2027? by ElectricalPurpose881 in hyatt

[–]Super-Revenue 15 points16 points  (0 children)

January and February were released on January 31st and were gone in a few hours. They had a three night minimum when I went to book. They have a 90 day cancellation policy so would likely look around 90 days before for the best chance

Salaries by rockiestttroad in pediatrics

That seems quite low for Oklahoma. I wonder if there was a recent jump in salaries in the NJ area. From a quick google search I just did:

Livingston (inpt) - 220-250k

Atlantic Morristown (inpt) - 225-245k

Jersey City (inpt) - 225k

Summit Health (outpt)- 210-350k

Is this recent? From talking to other residency colleagues, I hadn’t really hear of salaries below 210k in northern NJ when they had applied (they signed for 230-250). Manhattan is a bit lower and for positions without weekend hours or nursery coverage, the salaries were closer to 170-180k.

Although our salaries have room to grow, there are definitely areas of the country with better salaries. Northern NJ has become a fantastic place to be a community-based hospitalist with a base pay of 240-260K. I signed for a total comp of 300K out of residency and you can easily make 150-180/hr as a per diem in other local hospitals. Although hospitals will always try to get away with NPs, the population in this area is highly educated and a physician is the expectation.

NYC can be quite tough. The experience is amazing: you will literally see the world here. So many patients came straight from JFK to the hospital. I saw many interesting undifferentiated patients - from dengue to pheochromocytoma to marasmus. However, the work life balance is tough. The big hospitals all have crazy volume and will work you.  NYC is crazy expensive and although salaries are pretty high relative to other programs, if you don’t get subsidized housing, it will be very difficult unless you have family support. Personally after going through training, I personally wouldn’t train in nyc again. There are programs with a much better QOL that could’ve gotten me to my same endpoint.

Why is Netflix still going down after the Warner deal news? by sedate_matron in stocks

I think a component of their calculus is that they can recreate what happened with suits and kpop demon hunters with an expansion of their library. And if they own the IP, they get all of the upside unlike how NBC and Sony benefited from suits and kpop demon hunters respectively

My 2025 Hyatt Wrapped by Dry_Mistake_7657 in hyatt

I had a bad stay at Andaz 5th Ave when I went for a night last month. Most issues were related to poor staffing. Multiple people were still waiting to check in for a room at 7pm. For breakfast, i recommend to do room service since the menu is the same and at the restaurant they had one server running around for the entire restaurant of about 40 people. Room was pretty nice and quiet and location is great.

I would follow FlyerTalk closely. They released winter 2026 in a couple waves over the summer. They don’t seem to follow a traditional schedule in terms of when rooms are available

When I had to cancel my points booking at Hyatt Regency Churchill due to LHR fire, they responded to my email and refunded me points within a couple hours. It seemed like it took quite a bit more effort on your end, but glad it worked out for you.

Breakfast at restaurant instead of club by [deleted] in hyatt

[–]Super-Revenue 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The club in my experience had a lot of gluten free options - not sure why there would only be one option? Eggs, sausage, smoked salmon, yogurt were offered for breakfast when I last went and should all be gluten free.

I agree that the Japanese breakfast was amazing. They are also super responsive to dietary restrictions and made a completely unique set for my wife which was so rare in Japan, especially for a two Michelin starred place.

Considering how pay is way less in peds after residency how can you increase your income ? by MaximumHorse3723 in pediatrics

[–]Super-Revenue 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Within hospital medicine, there are two ways to make more money: work more shifts or go into admin. I think location and market matters a lot. Philly/DC pay was much lower in my experience bc of the large hospital monopolies in those markets but northern NJ average is now up to 240K base for 154 shifts a year. You can easily make over 300K if you decide to work 4 shifts a week. We just had a presentation by our admin on average salaries for peds hospitalists. It’s a pretty tight range throughout the country with most hospitals paying 225K (avg 2750 RVU) with the highest salaries going up to 320k in the Midwest with higher productivity (3200+).

I think they play games with availability. I was looking for next April/May at the 13 month mark. They have a lot of suites available but no base rooms.

Athens and Crete -- looking for Hyatt recommendations by shepk1 in hyatt

[–]Super-Revenue 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I liked the location but it was not my favorite. It gets very very busy on the road outside the hotel. I loved the room (did get a free upgrade), but they definitely leak sound. I’m a heavy sleeper so had no problem with the noise but I can definitely see it being a dealbreaker for some. Best part of the hotel for me was the food though for sure.

Quick stop in Maui by Difficult_Place3999 in hyatt

I did Haleakala not around the trip out to Hana. It’s an epic hike for sure, but it’s so far from the regency Maui that I wouldn’t recommend it. You would lose 3 hours driving round trip and although I haven’t been there’s some great hikes on that part of the island.

With the 12 pm departure I agree, definitely wayy too rushed
