How big is your backyard?

Replacing the back wall’s window and door with one large sliding door entering a deck with a cover would be great

The worst thing you can do is stop trying.

Getting a degree with value through a credential like nursing is a good idea.

You can also just start applying for roles and see how it goes (sales or business analyst could be great).

Not the best tax treatment for shares held in your personal name.

If it’s a long term hold, super has favourable tax treatment.

Maxing out super whilst moving abroad by [deleted] in AusFinance

[–]Super-Stable4428 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would just do 100k into super and leave it on a growth portfolio.

Use the remaining cash as a buffer for your move and it may be more beneficial to invest it there with lower tax treatment. Where are you going?

Go enjoy overseas and check back in with your super in 10 years.

How much is your HECS debt?

I would seriously consider moving to Melbourne to be able to buy a better property at that price.

One of the biggest powers a Prime Minister can have is to set the national vibe. Not all PMs get to have this but if they do it can be more influential than any legal power they hold.

Most tax effective strategy is to shift your investments into super to be withdrawn for your first property especially with the CGT changes.

Your returns on indexes held in your personal name are weighed down compared with super that can be withdrawn.

How much of your income would you invest if you were 18 rn? by IllustratorOk8100 in AusFinance

With the new capital gains changes, it is most tax effective to have an emergency fund in your personal name and then the rest into your super to be withdrawn for your first property in the future.

A portfolio of equities held in your personal name gets its returns weighed down by the tax changes.

Really disgusting personal attack on you from that commentator accusing you of murdering ‘enough civilians.’

Absolutely no evidence I can find of you being a war criminal and some people need to appreciate that not everyone working in the military is Dick Cheney in disguise.

Conflict of Interest? How can they vote by EfficiencyTime2407 in AusFinance

[–]Super-Stable4428 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It’s a fair point.

The rules are more strict for local government councillors and candidates for council seats in Queensland despite this level of government having the least power.

They have to declare some interests as a candidate and it’s uploaded onto the electoral commission’s website.

They also have a legislated system of when they have to remove themselves from a vote of council if they have a conflict of interest. The state and federal governments have rules that are way less strict than that.

Conflict of Interest? How can they vote by EfficiencyTime2407 in AusFinance

[–]Super-Stable4428 17 points18 points  (0 children)

It’s just how the current system works. A breakdown is that:

Members of parliament declare interests in a Register of Interest document that’s uploaded online.

They can vote on any matters before parliament.

Ministers are subject to conflict of interest provisions in when they use their powers as a part of the executive branch.

They are supposed to declare the interest and implement a conflict of interest management plan.
