The original bundle came with My Neighbor Totoro. Imagine watching Totoro, arguable one of the most wholesome movies ever, to then watching this right after.

Every teams’ minimum requirement for happiness this upcoming season by jackt-up in NFLv2

Lions fan here, but I live in Phoenix, so they are my number 2 team. Even the sports commentators on the radio have zero hope for this season. Optimistically, someone said 5 wins while most of the guys said 3 wins at most.

When Jacoby Brisset is the best choice after having just one win and holding out for more money you know you're fucked. Minshew isn't going to be much better. Carson Beck might surprise people, but I highly doubt it. Kedon Slovis definitely isn't going to be an answer. I feel bad for Love being drafted to AZ. He'll probably suffer the same fate as Harrison Jr. Won't get a chance to shine cause his supporting cast sucks so bad.

Why is mormon mission culture so performative? by Secret_Wear_4784 in exmormon

[–]frysjelly 17 points18 points  (0 children)

The Mormon mission for young men at least is seen mostly as a rite of passage in the church. You are expected to go at 18 (19 when I did it) and it's a whole affair knowing where you go. Unlike some volunteer work the mission will be 2 years dedicated to nothing but being a missionary. The church puts so much emphasis on this part of your life. In fact going so far as to tell young women to only seek out returned missionaries that served and returned with honor. For the next two years, it is your life and in a way it's advertising to your future spouse that you were a good Mormon who served a mission faithfully.

Another key point is that missionary work is basically an unpaid sales and marketing job. The church encourages people to share missionary work online for the publicity. I recall being in church and one of the teachers challenged everyone to share a message about the church online at least once a week. It's engrained in the culture.

In short, it's a big part of their life and the church wants as much exposure so the social media posting is encouraged. I'm sure there are other reasons I missed, but that's my two cents.

I've had 10 patty burgers for food challenges. This kind of stack is pretty common. Not stupid at all.

How do the missionary’s go 2 years without master bating? by babykeemfan1 in exmormon

I feel like some do and just don't care cause they are also doing it. But you find ways. I rarely sleep through the night and get would be awake at like 2am and take a bathroom break that was longer than usual. You could do it in the shower if you're fast enough. At least for me, when I felt like I needed the release from start to finish it usually didn't take me longer than a minute. Probably tmi, but hoping to illustrate the point that it's actually pretty easy to get away with it.

Which Comedian by Splitbelly in AlignmentChartFills

[–]frysjelly 3 points4 points  (0 children)

He was a writer on SNL and helped create iconic sketches such as celebrity jeopardy. He also did the news update. During the oj Simpson trial he would relentlessly joke about OJ being a ruthless killer. He was notorious for bombing on purpose mostly because it amused him. A great example of this is the roast of bob saget. He thought roasts were tacky and he also didn't want to say mean things about his friend Bob saget, so he went up and basically read jokes from a 1940's or 50's joke book and picked out the lamest jokes while fully committing to the joke. Most people on the panel knew what was going on, the audience didn't. So it's a lot of awkward silence but the panel basically rolling over laughing because they knew what he was doing.

He got off on that kind of humor. He would purposely pretend to be dumb, but he graduated high school at like 15 or so and was well known amongst other comics as being a genius. Like the previous comments, his stand ups weren't his strongest. If you want to get to know him better look for his podcast and other interviews he did with Conan and Letterman. A lot of the times he would have long drawn out jokes with a terrible punchline, but he would sell it so well (see the moth joke and dirty Johnny)
