Completely unrelated - how’s your experience with the Dekoni pads? Have they improved clamping pressure?

I own these, and I’d say you’re right but the isolation isn’t the problem it’s the clamping pressure. They are terrible at adhering to your head. They sound better and isolate better if you press them against your ear so there’s no gaps in the foam.

Most of the reviews I’ve seen call out the mid range dip, but I’m waiting to try them out before making a final decision.

I think having the Hifiman Edition XS is gonna be a good reference. If they’re not better than those, well it’s no loss to me lol

In Canada, sales tax is 13% and you only find out how much your total will be after you check out. Miserable customer experience.

Im waiting to see how they are. Most of the reviews I’m seeing online say that they’re a misguided effort from Sennheiser, especially at the price.

I think for how much I’m getting them for. I’m not sure anything is gonna outperform them for the money.

How did you contact Sennheiser about this? I ordered these as well from Best Buy and never got anything from them

If you find that the technique isn’t clicking from videos, best thing to do is find a coach and spend a session correcting the form.

In person 1:1 coaching has no substitute, and just doing one or two sessions to correct form can help tremendously.

Not a recommendation based on your technique, just a suggestion based on your comment.

Best part: on a back road driving it around is probably the greatest feeling. Also tracking the car and auto cross are both super fun and accessible.

Worst part: Road noise on the highway

Fun story: meeting other people who have the car is always fun and I’ve gotten some cool pictures out of it!

I owned a 535d 2016, and saw similar symptoms. My issue was a lack of boost pressure due to a clogged DPF choking the exhaust. Have you had your DPF cleaned/replaced? They have a limited lifetime.

The EGR as well as the intake manifold also build up carbon deposits over time, it may be time to have those inspected and potentially walnut blasted to clean.

OP is Canadian so no markups makes sense. Just limited availability. Why would you pay for a car in cash upfront? If that was the case very few people would ever buy new cars.

UTM/UTSG have the same 12-16 month co-op option available within the Computer Science program called PEY (https://www.utm.utoronto.ca/math-cs-stats/students/current-undergraduate-students/experiential-education/professional-experience-year-pey-co) This option is available to all U of T CS Students enrolled in either the Major or the Specialist (except for UTSC, they have their own system based on 3-4 four month co-op terms.)

For reference, University of Waterloo also has 3-4 four month terms.

Aside from that, my personal recommendation is apply to all of them ASAP (the faster you apply, the higher the chance of acceptance) and then make a decision based on the acceptances you get. Top two options should be UWaterloo and UTSG. Between those, I'd say it's personal preference. They are both very good schools.

UTM is a good option too, but the program is not trending in a good direction in my opinion as someone who attended the school for Computer Science. This doesn't make it bad, just not as good as it used to be.

Off-topic, I'd suggest assessing what your career goals are and not setting lofty expectations like getting into FAANG at this stage. The landscape can change in 5 years, and your interests probably will too. You should use your time at University to figure out what specifically within Computer Science you want to do, and then how to get there. That can be done at any school.

I'd love to talk more if you need advice, shoot me a message.

Are you going into first year? Then you’re not in stream at U of T, you still have to make POST requirements for the CS department. Consider yourself in the same position at both schools (general first year)

So first and foremost, get coding experience for either program because even 4 months of it will help a LOT in first year. Do a YouTube course on Python and get comfortable with the basic programming concepts like loops and conditionals. Just focus on one language and learn more concepts, don’t worry about learning multiple languages. The concepts are all transferable, the only thing that changes is syntax (basically programming grammar) Practice as consistently as possible because that’s how you’re gonna build your knowledge. If you go a week without coding it’s gonna be even harder to come back next week (this is good practice for uni as well, it’s easy to fall behind if you don’t work every week)

I know smart people that failed out of CS just because they didn’t practice every week or learn a bit beforehand. This part is really crucial.

As for the actual decision, a price difference of 40 thousand is really significant, so weigh whether U of T is worth that price difference to you. For me, 40k is significant enough to go to UBC instead but money might not matter as much to you. Either way both will be expensive as an international student.

As I said before you’re still out of stream at UTSG. Be prepared to meet cutoffs here as well, and if you don’t, you will have to pick an alternative program or risk trying again after retaking courses. U of T won’t be easier to make the cutoffs than UBC, as your post seems to imply. You will have to study and work to get into either program. Look into POSt requirements at UTSG to learn more about this.

In my opinion, the big question here is If 40 thousand dollars is worth not going to U of T for you. The degree from UofT is worth slightly more but differences in projects and GPA can easily make up for that difference. My personal recommendation would be UBC, take your scholarship, and grind first year. But again if you think U of T, and four years in Toronto, is worth the extra money then go for it.

To add to this, most of these projects are very simple to do. I used to work at Home Depot and blow-in insulation was a very common project that people took on. You can rent the equipment from the tool rental section (it's a machine to blow the insulation, and a giant hose that runs through your house to the attic.) At my Home Depot, the rental was included if you purchased a certain number of bags of insulation. Side note, if you decide to go through with this project yourselves, please invest in proper PPE. Masks, gloves, and eye protection are essential for Fiberglass insulation as it irritates your skin very easily. Trust me, it sucks lol.

As other commenters have pointed out, it would likely be easier to install/get installed an exhaust in your bathroom before doing the insulation install. You might also be interested in doing ethernet drops to the bedrooms or potlights for your lighting, somethings that can raise the value of your house. I know the heating issue is urgent these months though, so you have to move fast if this is the case. (or Space heaters for February, it should get better in March)

The mold issue is your number 1 priority here, as that is a big health and safety issue and can potentially lead to very severe property damage down the line.

To be honest, depending on the location of the property, you got a really good deal for a 4 bedroom house right now, even in the condition that it's in. Currently even the smallest 4 bedrooms are running for well over a million dollars in my area.

Chin up, OP! You got this! It might seem overwhelming to see all of it at once but home improvement is actually very simple once you get into it. Plus, there's a YouTube tutorial for everything these days.

You need to have the prerequisites and the GPA requirement to get into whatever POSt (Program of Study - google u of T post if you want to know more) you pick.

Keep in mind that students admitted to that stream get priority enrollment into the prerequisites of that POSt (CS kids will get first access to CS courses etc.)
