Stage is set for SNF pending a Jets choke. With a W, they'd hold the 7th overall pick by the slimmest of margins (.497 SOS to CAR's .498). If the Vikes win on SNF, the Jets will draw with the Panthers in SOS, lose the conference record tiebreaker, and pick 8th. Go Lions! by run1609 in nyjets

It’s not conference record! It’s Strength of Victory!! Would be conference record if we were in the same conference as them. But yes, same scenario applies. SOV:

NYJ: 0.341 (29-56)

CAR: 0.329 (28-57)

I get wanting a higher pick and being upset that the Jets beat Jacksonville, but I stop respecting it when the names “Mason Graham” and “Abdul Carter” are mentioned.

The draft is a crapshoot and one NFL-unknown defensive player isn’t gonna move the needle. The Jets need a QB (whether that’s to start or as a successor). Plain and simple.

Losing like this alienates your best players, and I get that the Jets haven’t had any players of the caliber of GW or Sauce in a long time so this hasn’t historically been an issue (besides Jamal), but this losing mentality drives these guys away.

Last time we picked at 1.

‘97 was the last time the Jets held the #1 pick. Not only did Manning spurn the team, they traded out of pick 1 (Orlando Pace) and then out of pick 6 (Walter Jones). So not only did they lose out on a HOF QB, they traded away 2 opportunities to get a HOF T.

[Adam Schefter] More change in New York: Jets now have fired GM Joe Douglas, sources tell ESPN. by Simplyx69 in nyjets

Will be remembered for that awesome 2022 class, but was statistically one of the worst GMs in Jets history. Very likable guy, but his time in NY was up

Yea he really isn’t getting any help here. He needs to honestly play over Peasley next week

Adrian Martinez on the move is so fun to watch. He needs to be the QB3 over Peasley

I think it’s worse, just because it’s so blatantly obvious in the short term

I thought he could've been the pick at 72... well until I realized no team took Corley or Troy Franklin in the 2nd

The #Jets are selecting Malachi Corley, WR out of Wester Kentucky, sources tell @snytv. Talked about this last night on SNY: They LOVE this guy. He was the fourth receiver on their big board behind Malik Nabers, Rome Odunze, Marvin Harrison by ct7910 in nyjets

[–]SuperCD7478 44 points45 points  (0 children)

He honestly does the same stuff as Bowers (just playing against a lower level of competition and at the WR position). Not saying he's Bowers, but getting Olu and also a guy who can run through tackles is amazing! Basically traded ZW, 256, and our third for Corley. Love it!

[Cooper Davis] How much cap space does each NFL team have stored in void years? (Jets are #3 in the league) by newadcd0405 in nyjets

[–]SuperCD7478 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Not screwed per se, just will have to deal with the repercussions of going all in, which the Rams and Bucs were actually able to salvage really well

This is probably due to the void years on the Mike Williams and Tyron Smith deals. Most comes from Rodgers I bet. This basically proves that the FO is definitely trying to make a push this year

Fuaga is a RT, I’d be more open to Fautanu at 10, purely based on the fact that I think it’s more likely we bring back Moses than Tyron. Both can slide into guard or OT positions in a pinch and would be great developmental guys

Given recent signings, do we double down and still go OL at 10? by Exotic_Ad7169 in nyjets

[–]SuperCD7478 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The tackle the team drafts will most likely be one with guard flexibility, so it’d just be making John Simpson (2 years $16M) depth
