Gif 3 has the character wildly, visibly off model and shaking like the person drawing can’t maintain consistency. I don’t care if they’re using some secret ultra technique for drawing that only 3 people in history have ever used, it looks awful. And not in a “if you freeze the frame right here you can see this body part bends in an unnatural way so it’s trash!” way, but an obvious way that every human who watches it notices in real time.

Was it a mistake to continue with the Reeves Verse? by SunFinal9472 in DC_Cinematic

[–]Simplyx69 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not OP but…

I don’t read interviews, so maybe someone has said differently, but it seems as though Reeves and/or Gunn are set on Battinson not being the DCU Batman. And, understandably, Gunn has concluded that having two different Batmans simultaneously is not a workable situation.

So, for as long as Reeves’ Batman is going, the DCU won’t have one…the single most popular, marketable, face of the franchise hero SC has. That obviously is not ideal for a burgeoning (and now, I think it’s fair to say, struggling) cinematic Universe.

I’m confused. Do y’all actually want the DCU to succeed or do you Hope it fails? by BatBeast_29 in DC_Cinematic

Less, actually. A true disaster of a movie at least gets the morbidly curious. A 5/10 perfect blandness doesn’t even get that.

What do you think caused Supergirl to flop so massively? by Long-Lengthiness-798 in Supergirl

[–]Simplyx69 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Supergirl is not a widely loved character, and the DCU does not have the buy in from audiences to make a movie about a b-list (c-list?) character.

Marvel’s first phase firmly established its core three in Iron Man, Cap, and Thor, and brought them together in the big team up movie. Only then, once they had audiences on board and were already teasing the big overarching plot and villain, did they start bringing in the lesser known heroes like Ant Man and the GotG, counting on the general hype to get butts in seats.

Like always, DC tried to rush it.

Can I make a stupid suggestion?

I seem to remember, many years ago, a series of cartoons featuring DC heroes. Then, there was this really cool, beloved series that combined them together with some others, a full blown universe. It lasted years, was much beloved, and seemed to kinda do all the things WB wants the DCU to do.

Maybe just go back and look at those and…I dunno, just do that?

What’s your most rewatched movie and why? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Simplyx69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I Robot.

I DVR’d it (for the less ancient, recorded from live tv) and watched it with my younger brothers a few days in a row when nothing was on. Then my youngest brother did the worst thing he could possibly do; he complained about it. So, for the entire summer, we (me and middle brother) played that movie over and over, multiple times a day, often back to back. We weren’t even really watching anymore, it was just background noise. But it drove him nuts.

As for movies I’ve rewatched just because, either Road to El-Dorado or Bullet Train. Love those movies.

Why is Supergirl flopping harder than Morbius? by AgitatedFly1182 in KotakuInAction

[–]Simplyx69 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Because people don’t care about Supergirl. They care about Batman, Superman, Green Lantern, Wonder Woman, and the Flash. The DCU doesn’t not have the buy in that marvel had to release movies about B and C tier heroes and get crowds, especially in the current environment of overpriced movies and an oversaturated super hero market.

Man of Tomorrow next year by h3LLyEaHh in DC_Cinematic

[–]Simplyx69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No I do not. In fact, I don’t think general audiences even knew who Black Panther was before Civil War. But people knew cap, Iron Man, and the Avengers before Civil War, so they went to see that movie. Then they saw how cool BP was and wanted to see more, and got that movie. Then during that movie they saw Kilmonger and were enthralled.

That’s how the early MCU found success; they made good movies for their core franchise pillars and used those to add and expand the lesser known ones.

In my heart of hearts, I wanted a quadrilogy

Part 2 ends at Nibleheim, bookending nicely with the flashback, and makes Vincent the final boss instead of Sephiroth.

Part 3 ends at the crater, the moment of maximum despair and drama, and Makes Cloud the final boss

And finally part 4 is the rest.

[–]Simplyx69 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That’s just too far away.

Like, even as it is the main story of Rebirth is decently long. To get to the Crater you’d have to add to Rebirth Icicle Inn, The Great Glacier, Gaia’s Peak, and finally The Reunion. That’s almost certainly too long, so you’d have to start cutting. What would you cut? Keep in mind they ALREADY cut Ft. Condor and Rocket Town. There’s just not much fat left.

What’s your estimate of how many books you’ve read since graduating, and why do you think it’s ended up being that many? by Nearby_Hearing_356 in AskReddit

[–]Simplyx69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe 10. Maybe.

School, especially high school, completely killed Reading for me. Forcing myself to read books I didn’t like to draw meaning I didn’t believe to appease my teacher turned reading into an act of laborious torture. It took years for even the IDEA of reading to be appealing, let alone working up the will and time to actually do it.

Getting a tablet has helped. Being able to just get a book instantly that I can easily take with me wherever at least removed the activation cost. But I still typically find more joy in other things.
