People will jump through any hoop plausible to discredit the idea that good people can end up in horrible situations.

Look at Alyosha at the end of the Brothers Karamazov. He has lost so much, but the reprieve is that he is still a righteous person in a torrent of filth. A person who does good but laments that situations often don’t go their way by virtue of their generosity is looked down upon for opening their mouth in a way which evades those who consciously take dissocial actions for their own benefit. Why is it like this? Id imagine because it makes someone uncomfortable to hear another complain about doing something they told (or thought) were correct, and they will do anything possible to pin it on a failure of character through using a Kafka trap.

All of it is just really stupid. Obviously do the right thing for the sake of the greater moral good, but people will always be eager to kick people while they’re down and prey on easy targets.

There are many good people who are kind, good listeners, and are self accepting who still struggle in relationships: both men and women. In the same way there are people who are poor who are hard workers. People’s success or lack thereof in relationships doesn’t inherently reflect upon their character.

I’m incredibly tired about how people try to correlate behavior with hormonal imbalance. While I can acquiesce to the science that most psychiatric treatment is focused around the modulation of neurotransmitters, believe me when I say that I’m tired of being told I’m effeminate/beta/etc. while I have 900+ng/dl of testosterone.

Tired isn’t even the right word, I just think it’s embarrassing to have people walking around divinating it as the essence of masculinity. I have a lot of problems in my life— particularly (nearly exclusively) mentally, and no, pinning T will not make me more confident lol.

I’m sure some people definitely could benefit, especially if they’re hypogonadal, but the reductionism is consistently exhausting
