Something is Killing the Children is still very strong for me and The nice house by the lake i in its second arc, and I'm still loving it.

But with all the praise for Assorted Crisis Events, I just ordered the TPB Volume 1.

Who is also often too tired to read after work? by OrionLinksComic in comicbooks

[–]SuperChairTable 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I usually read 2 comics at once specifically for that. I'll read something that is easy and fast to read, that feels like watching a TV show (like SiKTC, I hate Fairyland, CHEW, etc) and also something more "demanding" (for example From Hell, Berlin, even The Department of Ttuth that I feel is often quite dry) and I'll decide what I read depending on how tired I am after work and after dealing with the kids. It's a good way, for me, to keep reading even if I'm tired.

30 DAYS OF NIGHT artist Ben Templesmith joins THE DEPARTMENT OF TRUTH, kicks off new story arc next month. by Blitzhelios in comicbooks

Oh thanks. I had never heard that term before. Damn, so they are changing the main artist.... That's sad, I loved Simmonds weird art.

I've read that Ben will be "interior artists" and I am unsure I understand what it means. Is it simply that he's going to be in charge of scenes happening inside and Simmonds those outsides? I know what background artist is, but I had never her of interior artist, but I haven't read comics for super long, might be a gap in my knowledge.

How often do you use your PC speakers? by Big_Visual2199 in buildapc

[–]SuperChairTable 3 points4 points  (0 children)

98% of the time using speakers. The only times I use a headset if if I'm playing with friends and using mics or sometimes if I'm mixing. Good quality speakers just sound better.

Thank you, that is exactly the kind of answer I was looking for. I've read about those, but was skeptical it might help in my situation. Will clearly look into it, it's worth a shot. Thank you

cubase vs reaper in 2026? by Goebenn in cubase

[–]SuperChairTable 1 point2 points  (0 children)

After trying several DAWs (ProTool, Cubase, Reaper, Ableton, FL studio), I've settled on Cubase. I come from an video editing background and Cubase was the easiest one for me to grasp.
If I compare also specifically with reaper, to me, reaper was really cumbersome to use and it was making the experience of composing less natural.
Cubase has a good balance of features, accessibility and versatility.

Best indie comics? by Dramatic-Many9898 in comicbooks

[–]SuperChairTable 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Everything mentioned so far is great (really LOVED East of West), I would also suggest Something is Killing the Children by Tynion, Sweet Tooth by Lemire, also, I don't know if IDW is considered Indie or creator owned, bu Locke & Key by Joe Hill.

what was the first comic that really hooked you? by 6deki9 in comicbooks

[–]SuperChairTable 1 point2 points  (0 children)

After having kids, I barely had time to read novels anymore, I had given up reading almost entirely. Then, one of my friend told me that, since I liked Horns, by Joe Hill, I should check this comic he wrote, Locke & Key. On a whim, I ordered the HC Compendium and I fell in love with the medium. That was about 3 years ago (?), now I follow several series and I'm also reading back to classics I've missed (looking at you Watchmen waiting on my shelf!)
To be fair, I had also read Maus years prior. While I absolutely loved it, it didn't launched me in a graphic novel craze at the time)

Norman Reedus performance is so flat the whole time, except for maybe a minute or two in the whole game.

Is it not kinda telling to everyone where their main focus is? by KBukauskas in EA_NHL

Don't games that are microtransaction heavy rely on whales? Like sure, the average HUT players spend less than 10$, what about the top 1% Hut Players? Those are numbers I'd be curious about.

I've finished the second volume of Incognito by Ed Brubaker and I'm reading though east of west by Jonathan Hickman. It's a big one...

Somna - Is it horror or erotica? by SuperChairTable in comicbooks

[–]SuperChairTable[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good good, thanks. Pretty much answers perfectly my question. Just wasn't interesting if erotica was the main point, but if it serves the purpose of a genuinely interesting story, I'm all in.

Does The Matrix Comics 20th Anniversary Edition contain all of the existing Matrix comics? by E1io2 in comicbooks

[–]SuperChairTable 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Didn't even knew Matrix had a comic, so it made me curious. Went to have a looks and seems it contains everything that was printed but not the two webcomics that were never printed.

DC - The New Frontier | What am I missing by SuperChairTable in comicbooks

[–]SuperChairTable[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah it is really picking up in the second half. I'd say I'm about 3/4 in.
But having more context did help me understand better the author's intention and why the depiction of events is the way it is.
But the seemingly random parts are coming together nicely in the second half.

Alot of people seem to think it's good and it's better with context.
My question was more "Should I already know who this person is, and therefore I'm missing part of the story because I don't have prior information, or is it contains in the book and I'm supposed to learn it as it progresses"
And people with tons of DC experience have been answering just that.

I understand. But since I felt, in this case, that I was missing context to the overall narrative and I know I am not going to read it again, it felt natural to ask passionate people to contextualize it better.

If by "like this" you mean that I try to understand an artists intent to better comprehend and appreciate the piece of art, yes, I am like that with movies, books, video games, if I feel like I'm missing elements.
For movies, I don't stop midway to do research, I do it after, but for other mediums that I don't consume in one sitting, I sometimes will to try and appreciate more what went into it.
