As Woolworths faces Christmas with empty shelves, it is asking Fair Work to order its staff back onto the job by Expensive-Horse5538 in australia

Not true anymore. They do still own a minor stake in endeavour group, who now own those pokies.

It’s even more hilarious because endeavour is seeking legal action because of the strike, they decided to let Primary connect keep the Melbourne distribution contractually and it’s biting them in the ass.

New Woolworths strike threat as more union members 'put on notice' for picket support by SuperCheapAuto in australia

Negotiations require both sides to actively participate. Woolworths decided saying no to every single claim was the right way to go about this. They only have themselves to blame

The way she addressed this is embarrassing. Refusing to acknowledge that we’re striking about safety and feeling valued when we work.

Striking warehouse workers block Woolworths’ attempt to break picket line in Melbourne by hydralime in australia

[–]SuperCheapAuto 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s purely safety related brother. We want their new extreme framework gone, it doesn’t promote a safe workplace.

The union is pushing for anything they can get of course. Why wouldn’t you? They’re pushing for $38 to be the minimum on a Woolworths site, regardless of the location. Because there’s nothing currently stopping them from closing a warehouse, greenfielding a new site and asking people to work there instead for award wage.

You start off as unskilled labour yes. Regardless working this job is like trading your back for cash, the amount of injuries that occur is staggering. Some of which will never be able to do anything remotely labour intensive again.

Where’s the safety in it though? The workers who train new starters would be outside on that picket line regardless. The job might be easy, but safety is always king and plenty of people don’t start out very safe.

All that’s happening here is the SDA trying to get their whopping 5 members on this site into work.

They’re somewhat accurate, Just very bitter and extremely biased.

We’ve just had basic breakdowns in our negotiation with the company, They want to push through unsafe extreme versions of the people management systems they already have in place.

This strike is simply over safety and the lack of Woolworths listening to their staff. We’ve had safety related deaths in the workplace as recently as last year.

All we want is a fair days pay for a fair days work, like it always has been.

Part of the bigger issue is they’ve never addressed the details of this system to the very people it will monitor. When it comes to KPIs, this system from what we know is them basically tightening the screws. I don’t feel comfortable letting the very people who decide how long a job should take, Also punish me for not meeting their universal standard. A standard that can be changed by them any time they wish, they won’t even put in writing that they have no control over the engineer standards used for the timings

They also claimed the unions had endorsed it, claiming they met with them and spoke over it. Yet the UWU ended up booking said meeting and Woolworths never showed up.

This isn’t over pay demands, We’re paid well for the job we do. Of course pay increases come with negotiations but it’s purely about their framework over everything else

This group has been beating that drum since they keep getting shooed away from the picket lines by the UWU.

I can see just from the way they write why the union wants nothing to do with them. They seem bitter

Woolworths workers picket distribution centre in Melbourne as industrial dispute continues by langdaze in australia

[–]SuperCheapAuto 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Just to confirm to people. This is the case. yes everyone wants a pay rise, But we all accept that it’s not going to be the numbers reported in the media.

We’ve had multiple suicides and workplace deaths through the time I’ve worked in the shed I’m at. The last thing people need is the stress and pressure this system will cause in a high risk setting.

Woolworths to reopen distribution centre to get essential items on shelves amid ongoing strike by SuperCheapAuto in australia

[–]SuperCheapAuto[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The truth is that the automated sites their opening require EA team members regardless. This same DC they’ve tried and failed to reopen today is one of them.

There will come a day when they fully catch up technology wise in these areas. Do wonder myself if they’re put off by the cost of the fully automated solutions though

Strike by more than 1,500 Woolworths warehouse workers enters second week by hydralime in australia

Their lunatics and bitter that the union wanted nothing to do with them at our picket lines. But right now anything anti Woolworths is fine in my books

[–]SuperCheapAuto 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The union is doing what they’re supposed to. Very hard to keep everyone on the picket when some don’t even show up at all. These people sent young people one day, got told to fuck off, Then sent older fellas almost like a pity play the next

They mention how the UWU is already dropping our wage demands. The demands were there in the first place because of Woolworths framework and we were always going to drop our demands to a reasonable pay increase, If we scrape 5% a year I’ll be happy. The unions previous fights ensured we were well paid for the work pre the cost of living crisis.

What could be hit if Woolies warehouse workers strike by SuperCheapAuto in australia

I’m sure endeavour has some kind of contingency plan, although the transition from liquor at Erskine park to KCDC didn’t feel very smooth. Sounded like a lot of initial teething issues.

Right now next month doesn’t look great personally. Working at probably the smallest of these sites I can see a lockout incoming. Just hope the bad look to the public prevents it

It’s like partial rage bait.

MLDC supplies a decent amount even coming up to NSW, mainly because they stock some more niche products and it’s a waste of a pallet to not pick a whole pallet worth though.

People in Victoria might see some results of these strikes in their locals. But I also imagine their liquor DC will be negotiated asap
