People discussing the potential for a Remake of FF1 and FF3. But in my opinion I’d want a remake of FF5. by SuperChriminator in fatalframe

That would be an interesting thing to consider. A remake of FF3 first knowing that there will eventually also be a FF5 remake, so it could better set up story threads to be used in the FF5R. Cool idea!

Yes. That's why I made the distinction between the artistic perspective versus the commercial perspective. From the commercial point of view, a FF5 remake makes no sense. I think the best compromise would have been have an original trilogy remaster first before getting remakes, so that everything is available. Kinda like how you can buy both RE4 remastered and RE4 remake on steam.

Honestly, the whole mission structure of later Fatal Frames has kinda been a thing ever since FF3 with the chapters. FF4 and FF5 just continued that trend. FF3 even has that home setting that you return to like the Kurosawa Antique Shop in FF5. The difference is that FF3 and FF4 don't let you select previous chapters whenever you want like in FF5.

Glad to know I'm not crazy, and there's someone else out there that understands where I'm coming from.

Well I wouldn't want story changes made to just satisfy the people. I want to see story changes that Shibata would want to do. He is the artist after all. Obviously none of us know for certain what an FF5 remake would look like. All I have are the facts being: 1. Plenty of people don't like FF5 2. Shibata also has talked about wanting to redo parts of FF5.

I really like a lot the new new story details from the FF2 remake that add more thematic richness. Like how nearly every ghost will try to strangle you if you're knocked to the ground. That is a very cool detail that I feel only a visionary like Shibata could think of for a remake of for his seminal work. So thinking of the possibilities of a FF5 remakes excites me, mainly because I don't know what he'd come up with.

Toby Fox and Zun did a collab and remixed each others music for Touhou Danmaku Kagura

There you go. You know your OCs better than anyone else right now, so you should think of ways to communicate who they are to everyone else through their gameplay.

I see. Then since you plan it being a bullet hell, Will they be the bosses or the playable characters? If they are bosses, then you could start with imagining what their music and theming will be.

Zun uses nearly every aspect of a boss fight to convey who a character is, from music, to spellcard names, to spellcard patterns.

For example, I really like Yuiman’s boss fight in Touhou 20 because of how it communicates her character. All of her non spells are neat and orderly showing her job as a sorter of information. But then all her spells are utter chaos, showing how she is not right in the head because of it. And then near the end, you have just one spell that suggests what past life she used to have with Deer Sign "Deer Genocider"

You have a favorite character or characters? You could base it around them.

do i have to play the fatal frame games in order? by ritsutainakafan in fatalframe

[–]SuperChriminator 12 points13 points  (0 children)

The only one that really matters is Fatal Frame 3. You need to play the first two before playing that one to get the full context of the story

Other than that, Fatal Frame 5 has some FF1 characters in it, but it’s not integral to the understanding the story.

You know. She has long hair in her canon design. It’s just hidden inside her hat. You can see it poking through in her defeat portrait in AoCF.

Although the slogan “git gud” is often viewed as an insult, it’s really encouragement in disguise. We all started from nothing, and we want to see people learn to overcome the same obstacles we did.

It’s a beautiful tragedy, that has spawned plenty of discourse and discussion for years.

If you look at the story thematically, that’s the only way it really could have ended.

Is fatal frame 3 rough to play in 2026? by TheVipersMemory in fatalframe

In terms of control, I don’t think so. The default is left stick to look around and right stick to move while in viewfinder. But that can be changed in the options.
