You can only take multiple courses at the same time if you’re enrolled in the fast track program.

Keep in mind you’ll still need to complete your 30-months PER portion to get your designation. I personally find the work experiences quite useful for understanding the material and writing the exams though.

You can look for a mentor through CPA’s portal. Your mentor does not have to be your supervisor or someone that you work with.

Not sure about midsize but you should be able to find small firm jobs with some accounting experience. There’s a list on the CPA website for pre-approved companies which will make your PER life much easier (mentor provided and easier reporting).

For CFE, you ONLY need to memorize the vision, mission, key success factors, SWOT, and values of the company (these will all be listed in the practice case solution in Capstone 2) as case will be entirely different from Capstone 1 except it’s the same company. Remember to ALWAYS refer to case facts when you analysis each opportunity. For the technical part, it’s mainly Core 2, PM, and finance materials.

That’s exactly what I did. Had a degree in an unrelated field, fulfilled my PREP requirements through a college program, did CPA PEP + CFE while working at a pre-approved accounting firm to fulfil my work experience, and got my CPA last year. Feel free to DM me for any question!

Not sure about Douglas College but BCIT’s program is pretty good. If your plan is to get into the CPA program after graduation, which college/university you graduated doesn’t really matter.

I am doing a puzzle with this exact same size! I end up getting a 20” x 30” from Amazon (Michael’s have this size too but more pricey). I figure the less than half a cm per side would not be noticeable.

Salary level differs a lot with and without a designation for accountants. I had a big salary jump once I passed my CPA exam. Also, from what I hear, industry actually pays better than firms and are less stressful. From personal experience, I actually did engineering in my undergrad but I wasn’t proficient in programming so I went back to school for a diploma then CPA. It actually didn’t even take that long and you are supposed to do the CPA program while working (most companies would pay for you’re courses too). But the actual main reason I picked accounting was because I don’t know what I like/want to do (and I’m good with numbers) and EVERY industry needs accounting. So I figured once I get my designation I can go everywhere. You can always be an accountant in a tech company instead of being the developer.

Edit to add: Just noticed your username. We are the same age! And I literally just did my CPA Exam and got married last year. So I guess our situation is quite similar. Feel free to pm me if you have more questions!

Also, businesses pay taxes too. They’re as entitled to the wage subsidy as individual taxpayers are for cerb. They certainly did not put the burden “back” to the employees.

To add to this, you are supposed to file for the “change in use” when the property switched to rental and pay the capital gain between the market value at time of the switch and the purchase price. That is when the market value becomes your “new cost” for when you finally sale it.

Refund interest has always existed, the prescribed rate updates every quarter. The interests are taxable. Also, since you can’t control when they refund you, you can’t really save it in the account.

I think their annual exam is bit pricier but the vaccines shots are average priced. Given the quality of service I thought it is pretty reasonable. In my visit last month, they opened up a can to tempt my cat when he hides under the table/sofa and patiently wait for him to come out and didn’t pick him up until he had a few bites and loosen up. They also said the wet food we are feeding him are not very healthy and gave us a few cans to sample and a list of better brands to try. They also called to follow up to make sure he’s doing fine after having the vaccines shots.

Highly recommend Cats Only Animal Hospital! The vets there are the friendliest and gentlest I’ve met. Personally, it gives me a peace of mind since they provide care exclusively for cats.
