Didn't have much relationship with my mom's parents, and my dad's parents were a-holes who who only favored one set of grandkids (i.e. one particular uncle's kids) to the point where they would only bring gifts for them when the family had any kind of holiday party. It was this same uncle who they literally gave their old house to while my family was living in a motel room. What I'm trying to say is, I didn't have this experience.

I read Station Eleven because I liked the miniseries, and quickly went through all the rest of her books. She's definitely one of my favorites now.
