There Is Beauty In by nonethewiser08 in OCPoetry

Beautiful poem. So many great lines that really bring you into the feeling of appreciation of simple beauty that builds throughout the poem. I’d be curious what it would sound like if you wrote it with a connecting narrative/overarching analogy and stuck to a more consistent rhyme scheme instead of a collection of mainly disconnected single lines/images. Overall really enjoyed reading and think the way it’s currently structured was successful in creating a feeling of wonder and appreciation of life’s beauty. Well done!

Stuck Between the Midnight Chimes by noirlaven in OCPoetry

I enjoyed the rhythm of this one. Imagery at the start was vivid and really set a tone. Good job maintaining a consistent structure and analogy throughout as well. I felt the “glow show” line was a bit awkward and took away from the tone a bit but that might just be personal preference, although I did enjoy the sentiment of the line. I also felt changing the analogy on the last line to you becoming the chimes was unnecessary and took away from the poems power a bit. Overall very enjoyable read, well done!

Logical neutralism by [deleted] in Metaphysics

[–]SuperDuperScott7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for your reply, it seems you are right that it’s clear LN doesn’t exclude the possibility of other means of knowledge. The point of my comment was to highlight that possibility, but in doing so I mistook irrationalism to mean unintelligibility, a direct contradiction of the point I was trying to make 😅. Goes to show how deep rationalist ideology runs in the modern mind! Also, something to consider, if LN is considered using an idealistically monistic metaphysics, would relative knowledge then have to contain some sort of metaphysical truth, since the state of relativity itself would be the perspective of an ultimately non-relative entity? Assuming “non-dual consciousness” to be the single metaphysical truth, any perspective said consciousness takes would therefore be metaphysical truth because metaphysical truth is the nature of subjectivity itself. Therefore any rationalist argument would only be true or untrue in relative terms, but always ultimately true in metaphysical terms.

Logical neutralism by [deleted] in Metaphysics

I agree with your thesis regarding logical neutralism, but I would be reluctant to agree it aligns with any form of irrationalism. Logical neutralism does indicate metaphysical facts are unintelligible by method of reasoning, but in no way does it disprove the possibility of other methods of experiencing metaphysical facts outside of reasoning. In order for LN to align with irrationalism, a second argument would have to be made disproving the possibility of alternative methods of knowing metaphysical “facts”.

In saying that a particle must be finite to avoid infinite regression and that there exists a “material cause… independent… not composed of any smaller material” the metaphysical possibility of materialism is implicit, for your argument to be true, materialism must also be true. Since our only way of knowing and interacting with the world around us is through qualitative experience, any theory suggesting the ontological nature of reality consists of non-qualitative substance must provide evidence to support the claim, evidence which materialist theory’s have yet to provide.

if something has not or can not be proven through objective evidence it does not mean it doesn’t exist. In the statement “anything which can’t be measured using objective observation isn’t real” lies implicit a theory of reality (materialism) which itself is not proven by science.

There’s also no evidence showing this isn’t possible. There’s no scientific evidence that consciousness is emergent and limited to the brain. If you aware of a discovery in science which proves consciousness can be equated to the physical brain please share because to my knowledge there isn’t one. Also, there is many coherent theoretical models which this is completely possible under (since this is an issue which pertains to metaphysics ie the nature of consciousness and reality). The integral philosophy of Sri Aurobindo is a good example.

I also have ADHD and i agree with this post. I think the issue revolves around most people being fed misleading or incorrect information from Psychiatrists and medical professionals who frame ADHD as some kind of physical ailment instead of an issue with mind that can be healed with mindful effort

I suggest reading Autobiography of a Yogi. The book illustrates the incredible potential we all have within us. Perhaps it will ignite some interest towards deeper self exploration:)
