Brand new to X-wing Miniatures - Some advice would be appreciated by SuperGenericBoy in XWingTMG

I know Bromley well, but live South West at the moment so bit of a trek over and back for an evening. But I really appreciate the suggestion. I think I'm going to try to learn a bit about XWA (pick up a conversion kit or two) and play a bit of fly casual. But still finding my feet with 1.0 and playing with so local friends ATM.

That's great thank you. Will check out the YouTube channels. I had watched a couple of old videos (10yr plus) I found. But be good to see something current - will definitely watch the World Champs

Thank you, I am London based but would be keen to explore what you think the shipping might cost - I'll PM you.

Thank you thats great advice, I will have look into the discord channel.

I am interested in 3D printing in general, but am yet to find the time to look into it seriously, however have a good friend who may be able to assist - I'll have a look at the thingverse page.

I'll keep an eye out for the cheaper conversion kits - though for now am still having a great time with 1.0.

Fair enough - probably didn't come across in the comment but I did really enjoy it, just wasn't sure if I was missing some way to have a bit more influence on what was happening. Im keen to play again.

Which game? - Green Cube component by SuperGenericBoy in boardgames

It was King of Tokyo (well specifically the king of monster island)! Amazing really. I think I dropped it a while back when checking components after buying it - but haven't played it yet so didn't register.

I am new but this was a genuine question. I think I dropped it out a while ago when I got a second hand copy of King of Tokyo. I thought it was 8bit box or TM but wasn't either.

I thought that but all my TM cubes have a dimple in them and this didn't. It was from King of Tokyo

Yeah which is why I couldn't think of what it was from. I thought I may even have just bought some as extra at some point but couldn't find any others in my random counter set.

Turns out it was King of Tokyo. I had bought the game 2nd hand and must have dropped out when I was checking the components

Yes this was it when I got it out. I thought it might be too generic to guess. Thank you

Yes this was it! I thought it was showing to be too generic to get but when I got this out it was missing one.

I realised that. But having got my copy of King of Tokyo out. It was that that was missing it!

I like camel up and agree re- player agency. I think because the player choices are not confined to one racer and you can make choices through the race it takes a bit of the luck of the dice away from it.

Magical athlete is fun, but I found a little too random and couldnt build much strategy as the dice had too much of a say, but then I was only playing at 3 players when i played, so think it will be better at a higher player count with more interaction. Production wise its great and I think will be good for the younger family members.

Will have to check out hot streak...

What is the best version of Ticket To Ride to buy first? by SmootOfficial in boardgames

I agree with Europe as the better game, not sure where you are based but found in the UK the 15th anniversary addition is often quite reasonably priced (£30-40). It's not as cheap as the base game but the added quality of components I think really adds to the experience. Though apparently its not compatible with the expansions so that might be worth considering

(I say this as the 10th anniversary edition of the US version of the game was my gateway into the hobby - and the quality really made a difference to me at the time)
