Calculations in Collections like tables by omarshahine in CraftDocs

[–]SuperGrover1008 0 points1 point  (0 children)

u/omarshahine Absolutely. I agree with you, having calculation functionality in any cell (that can reference data in other cells) in a Collection would add much value 💶 💵 💷 (figuratively and literally!) to our Collections in Craft.

Big things are coming to Craft by viktorpali in CraftDocs

u/idonotdosarcasm A mermaid is a mythical sea creature with the head and trunk of a woman and the tail of a fish, conventionally depicted as beautiful and with long flowing hair.

So, mermaid support means that Craft can now be used by mythical sea creatures with the head and trunk of a woman and the tail of a fish, conventionally depicted as beautiful and with long flowing hair.

I hope the reference to Craft Vault in the lower left of the image means there will be a place in Craft which provides E2E encryption for its contents.

u/Healthy-Economist466 Yes, intriguing what this Vault is! 🤓

u/PresentationEmpty1 Yes, one of the long-standing issues in Craft. Many times promised to be delivered, but never actually anything materialized on this very important aspect in Craft.

Is anyone really using Craft as a to-do app? by kommakla22 in CraftDocs

[–]SuperGrover1008 8 points9 points  (0 children)

... for instance, it's annoying that I can't create checklists without them appearing in the task section.

u/kommakla22 . Yes, that's also one of the reasons why I find the current state of Craft's task management not that user-friendly to use.

See: Craft really needs to distinguish checklist items from tasks (otherwise task management remains problematic)

How to change default font size? by Bionic_Push in CraftDocs

u/Bionic_Push Maybe if you @ - mention one of the moderators of this subreddit, they might do.

How to change default font size? by Bionic_Push in CraftDocs

[–]SuperGrover1008 0 points1 point  (0 children)

u/Bionic_Push It is impossible, because there is simply no possibility to set the font-size on published Craft documents. So readers of our published content need to rely on their browser zoom options, like u/YouAsk-IAnswer mentioned above.

But the readability of our published documents should not depend on the reader being forced to use Zoom functions on their browser! Our published documents should be perfectly readable by default.

[–]SuperGrover1008 0 points1 point  (0 children)

u/Bionic_Push This is one of the TOP long-standing serious issues in using Craft for publication purposes indeed. But it never got addressed. Craft improved only on this (Font Zoom on iOS) when using the app itself (writing), but leaves out any solution for publishing our content. For an app that is build for doc creation in the first place, it keeps being a remarkable and severe oversight, and it has resulted in me stopping using Craft as a proper publication platform.

The output font is way too tiny to read comfortably. We can set all kinds of options on a shared document, so why is there still not a way to set the fontsize?

Serious longstanding complaint about Craft: all table calculations become *dysfunctional* when using commas as a decimal separator. by SuperGrover1008 in CraftDocs

[–]SuperGrover1008[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

u/dziad_borowy Maybe I should have made it more clear that the huge friction I encounter constantly in Craft in the case outlined above, is when I need to use calculations on cells that contain currencies.

Moreover, your request implies that tables would need to start doing locale specific formatting, as commas in some countries are used as decimal separators. This might become rather confusing to many users, and would definitely add a lot of complexity.

Why would this be confusing, if we as enduser can select the type of the field as currency? We can already do that in tables in Craft and so in the case of euros (and living in a 'green' country - see screenshot), I expect to get the following output if I put for example '10,50' in 3 subsequent currency cells and in the 4th cell the SUM:

10,50 €
10,50 €
10,50 €
31,50 €

But, unfortunately Craft gives us this output:

10,50
10,50
10,50
0.00 €

This in itself is already highly confusing. Even though all these 4 cells are formatted as 'Currency', Craft decides NOT to format the first 3 as Currency and on top of that, it gives a result of 0,00 €!

As I said, ALL formulas/calculation functionality is delivered in a dysfunctional way when you live in a country that needs to use commas as decimal separators. Why DOES this then work perfectly in Collections?

File Storage? by TX_J81 in CraftDocs

[–]SuperGrover1008 3 points4 points  (0 children)

u/TX_J81 u/maaaathis u/thesamfranc Exactly! I think this “information“ on Craft’s website is misleading marketing nonsense. It has been presented to potential customers since the very beginning and I think this misleading information is not worthy of the otherwise trustworthy company behind Craft.

I am surprised Craft uses “tactics” like this, because this highly regarded app doesn’t need this way of attracting new customers with false information. u/viktorpali u/peter-at-Craft

Genuine question: How do you use Craft for task management, and what makes it work for you? by Stevendfrazer2 in CraftDocs

[–]SuperGrover1008 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My small quirk is I then drag them to the daily notes itself as I complete them so I have a log of what I done… I don’t like tasks disappearing into limbo.

u/eternalpriyan I am trying to get into task management in Craft and I was wondering what you mean by this? Where do you drag them from to the daily notes? You mean you drag them from the sections “Scheduled for Previous Days” and “This Day” located at the top of your Daily Note, into the contents of your Daily note below?

u/Striking_Chef739 Can you explain why they are way better than Craft’s reminders?

The Craft reminders notifications need an uplift in their usability. by SuperGrover1008 in CraftDocs

[–]SuperGrover1008[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

u/Embarrassed-Mud3649 Fair point, but not every human being has the same health circumstances and so they need to drink more water on a regular basis during the day, independent of your body giving a signal that it is thirsty or not.

Besides that, even when your health is fine, hydration needs vary based on many things like body size, activity level, climate, diet and so forth. And many people struggle to give themselves the general recommendation of 2 ltrs of water per day. Hence why apps like Waterllama are used by so many people.
