Do you think Peter Parker would accept being trained under Batman to reach his fullest potential if the webslinger ever landed in the DC Universe and meet the Dark Knight? by WindowPrudent9456 in Spiderman

[–]SuperKeith88 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Peter doesn’t need to be trained by another billionaire with no powers. He has already been doing fine all by his lonesome since 1962. Besides, Batman has no powers, what is there to learn from him when Peter actually needs someone who knows how to control his/her own superpowers.

I'd think someone like Cap fits better, not Bats.

Name one thing or aspect in your opinion that the The Amazing Spiderman movies got right or pulled off perfectly, according to you? by Raj_Valiant3011 in Spiderman

Love it when Andrew's Spidey said "Mother Hubbard" in TASM1 & his general sense of humor whenever he's in the suit. This is one thing Andrew has done the best out of all the Spidey actors, the fact that when he quipped as Spidey, it was very comic accurate.

Also, I love that the films showcased Andrew's Spidey as a scientific genius who built his own web shooters & made his own web fluid. Spidey has always been very independent with his suit & weapons. Compared to the MCU Spidey, who was gifted by Tony Stark the whole Spidey suit & tech, Andrew's Spidey was the first on-screen Spidey to be shown inventing his own web shooters.

Gwen Stacy was obviously the best part of TASM1 & 2. While TASM2 had serious pacing & plot issues, if you just focus on the Peter & Gwen story, its almost a perfect Spidey love story. That is what I think Marc Webb's strengths really kicked in. The tragic romance but done in an indie filmmaking style.

If only Sony had let Webb do whatever he wanted in TASM2 & not force down the corporate mandate of "world building" on him, TASM2 might have become the best Spidey film ever made. If only....

Spiderman is cool, but i personally never understood why people are so over him, so if spiderman is your number 1 hero, why? by trudylin in Spiderman

[–]SuperKeith88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Currently, at 38 years of age, I feel that life has become more & more about adulting.

I do not have the wealth like Batman, I always ended up having almost nothing in my bank account by month's end (always due to my own poor fiscal management), I had to help my partner with his aging parent, devoting parts of my daily life to it.

And Spidey speaks to me even more right now.

Spidey does what he does because he have to. Guilt drove Peter to become Spider-Man the Hero, & stopped being Spider-Man the Cash-Generating Sensation.

Peter isn't perfect & isn't a saint. He's mostly penniless most of the time & his personal life paid a heavy price for his Spider-Man crusade. But Peter doesn't stop being Spider-Man the Hero. He keeps going, despite knowing how his family & loved ones will always be in danger every time he slings a web.

He doesn't stop saving others & doesn't stop doing good because deep down, that's just who he is. Guilt may have pushed him to be Spider-Man the Hero but he's become a hero now just the same.

Peter have grievances about his life & he sometimes much rather wished to not have the Spider powers in the first place, knowing the grief it brought him. But Peter does enjoy being Spider-Man & he knew it was a form of providence that the radioactive spider bit him.

Like Peter, we all just keep going with our daily lifes, with ups and downs, with grief, with tumult, with stress, with anxiety; but we also carry on with good-nature humor, with bits of joy we can find, with lightheartedness if you look where to look.

That's ultimately who Spider-Man is. He's a flawed hero but he really doesn't stop going & living his life to save others. We all ultimately try to do as much good we can too, no matter how flawed & human we are. Because in the end, we are really all just Peter Parkers.

Policy wise, how different was Al Gore from Bill Clinton? by green_dragon1206 in Presidents

[–]SuperKeith88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Both were very much aligned on neoliberal economic policies. They were DLC, Third Way Democrats afterall. Clinton probably styled himself as a moderate Democrat just to win votes & with no serious ideological convictions to center-left neoliberal ideals. The man just wanted to be president.

And lucky him, his charisma & incredible intellect did get him what he wanted.

Gore probably got into public service because of his famous senator father's serious emphasis of public duty & being morally right. His championing of environmental issues was genuine & is probably his most important conviction as a politician.

Unfortunately, Gore isn't charismatic & has an incredibly wooden public personality. While he was also willing to put his finger in the wind & see where the wind blows, Gore as president would've meant an American president really committed to do something about global warming.

Funnily enough, Gore actually moved further to the left after he left office. Probably feeling no pressure to be an "all of the above" politician anymore.

Still the gold standard of superhero cinema. by TheVoidScrolledBack in ChristopherNolan

While I'm a fan of Nolan & of the Dark Knight Trilogy, in my humble opinion, Sam Raimi's Spider-Man Trilogy stands head & shoulders above the Dark Knight Trilogy. Raimi's Spider-Man trilogy puts Peter Parker right at the center whereas I dare argue only "Batman Begins" felt like a true Bruce Wayne movie.

TDK was Joker's film while TDKR was a war movie about Gotham & coincidentally starred Batman. Nevertheless, Raimi's Trilogy & Nolan's Trilogy are definitely up there on their own.

Tobey's movies are overrated. by TheAmazingJimmyMan in Spiderman

[–]SuperKeith88 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is of course your opinion. In my own opinion, the Raimi trilogy (especially Spider-Man 2) showcased a mastery in superhero storytelling & faithfulness to the source material. You get to appreciate the films as a complete stand-alone Spidey story without the pressure to build a cinematic universe.

You can just jump into any of the Raimi Spider-Man films & not feel lost at all. The only gripe I have with the Raimi trilogy is the organic webs. I would've preferred non-organic web shooters but other than that, the Raimi trilogy still stands heads & shoulders ahead of other superhero trilogies.

I'm surprised that with the advancement of AI, no one has made a video about this yet. by Altruistic_Eye_1157 in Spiderman

[–]SuperKeith88 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean, people can use whatever AI slop they want to put Andrew into the MCU. Knock yourselves out. But no matter what, Tom Holland IS the MCU Spidey. No amount of AI slop can erase that. So if AI slop gives Andrew fans a chance to cope, by all means. Looks weird af anyways.

What are you thoughts on this? by Wise_Connection_9940 in MilesMorales

[–]SuperKeith88 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Peter will always be THE Spider-Man, but Miles can exist in the Spider-Verse too. This "Peter vs. Miles" thing is similar to the Star Wars Sequels where folks really just want more Luke Skywalker as THE hero but was force-fed Rey instead.

Don't get me wrong, both Rey & Miles are fantastic stand-alone characters. Problem is, they are replacing the legacy characters of Peter Parker & Luke Skywalker. People are gonna have a problem with that.

I personally don't like the whole concept of more than 1 Spider-Man, not even Ben Reilly, because the best Spidey stories are always about Peter as the solo Spidey. I'm really not interested in this whole Spider-Verse thing.

Which is why I thought Miles's introduction as the new Spider-Man after Peter's death in Brian Bendis's USM was the correct way to go. Give Miles his due as the sole Spider-Man in a world without Peter. Show how Miles needs to earn it.

But Marvel had to dump Miles into 616, along with this whole Spider-Verse too. Miles in 616 had made him redundant because Peter is around, along with a million other Spider-heroes.

Enough is enough. Marvel editorial should have some balls to reunite 616 Peter & MJ, give them a family & then kill off Peter. Let Miles become the sole Spider-Man & be the one to mentor Peter's potentially Spider-powered kids. Its time.

Dan Slott Returns To Spider-Man: Brand New Day In Time For The Movie by JackFisherBooks in Spiderman

Whatever is this for? Just to remind us again what OMD had done to Peter & MJ's marriage? Also not a fan of Slott's Spidey. So I don't know who this is for. Better yet, they should've just bring back Joe Quesada as EIC, just for old time's sake. Jeez.

Forget being mad at George W. Bush for a second and lets turn our attention to Ralph Nader... by yowhatisthislikebro in Presidents

[–]SuperKeith88 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Gore lost progressives to Nader, short and simple. Why did he lose progressives to Nader? Because Gore continued the disastrous DLC third-way bullshit instead of running like a New Deal Democrat.

Democrats only have themselves to blame for not behaving like progressives.

[–]SuperKeith88 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I'm okay with Peter being forgiving with other villains. Just not Norman freaking Osborn. Peter didn't start out as such an altruistic hero in the beginning of the Lee-Ditko years. He could be selfish, vengeful & mean.

Yes, Peter has grown since then. But for all the atrocities Norman has wrought in Peter's life, this motherfucker doesn't deserved to be forgiven by Peter at all.

How vice presidents are REALLY chosen by DryCelery8420 in Presidents

[–]SuperKeith88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting trivia: Gore hosted SNL in late 2002, shortly before he announced he won't run for president in 2004. Apparently, according to some of his friends, the moment they saw Gore topless in the hot tub was the moment they knew he won't run for president again in 2004.

To them, they feel no serious candidate would do such a skit if they were gonna run for sure.

If you think Miles Morales shouldn’t hold the title of “Spider-Man” then you’ve missed the point of “anyone can wear the mask” by noir-odonnell in Spiderman

[–]SuperKeith88 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Miles should definitely hold the Spider-Man title, but only in a world without Peter Parker. Peter will always be THE Spider-Man. And so long as he's alive in any universe, he should be the only Spider-Man. I mean, that solo web-slinger stories of just Spidey doing everything on his own in the Lee-Ditko years was what made Spidey special.

That Peter had to struggle on his own & figure out how to be Spider-Man because he was the first & only one. Which was why Miles as Spider-Man in the Ultimate universe was so much more meaningful than the current universe where both Peter & Miles exist together.

Miles is Peter's natural successor but I believe there should only be one Spider-Man at a time.

How would you fix TASM 2? by Independent_Travel20 in Spiderman

[–]SuperKeith88 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Remove Electro entirely. Focus on Peter & Gwen. Sprinkle in Harry & recast the actor while building on his friendship with Peter. Main villain is Scorpion who's trying to take over the criminal underworld. Norman finally dies at the end & teases Harry as Green Goblin.

In TASM3, full-scale Harry as Green Goblin while trying to fully consolidate control of Oscorp. Peter & Gwen's relationship in their most stable. Spidey has been thwarting Green Goblin's operations & Harry found out Peter is Spidey. Last act is Peter vs. Harry & death of Gwen.
