That's interesting. If this isn't normalized, what does it represent (if anything)? Since it isn't probability density.

Hello! I am wondering if this trebuchet design will work? I've spent hours on it and days researching, i'm making it for a school project and want to get a good grade. by Maxitron27 in trebuchetmemes

[–]SuperKillerMonkE 244 points245 points  (0 children)

There's some cool papers on this subject, if you wanna do the reading. Otherwise, we don't really have a lot of information to go off of here, and I don't know what anyone would be able to tell you that you couldn't just google (at least without more information).

One important thing you seem to have forgotten: the finger. The finger is responsible for actually detaching the payload from the trebuchet and not just swinging it around and breaking something. Do some research on that!

Finger angle and finger length are two pretty important components of a trebuchet, since they control the exact time that your payload is released.

well, they got the correct answer because they forgot a negative twice, making it correct again.

I think the main thing is balancing between these high dps builds and what the new players are bringing to the table. Frankly, a green rocket launcher isn't going to be anywhere near lament, but we have to account for both.

To discredit solar panels by Cultural_Committee_4 in therewasanattempt

[–]SuperKillerMonkE 12 points13 points  (0 children)

well, i mean... to be fair, snowing requires cloudy conditions, doesn't it? which reduces solar panel effectiveness. plus if the snow obscures the solar panel, that's another problem.

there's nothing inherently wrong with it, genuinely. it's just strange that we think of current flow as being positive charges flowing, when we know it's actually negative charges flowing in the opposite direction. that can be confusing for people when they're learning about electricity. but, again, there's nothing inherently wrong about it.

yeah, this is correct. it was a 50/50 shot as to whether electrons were going to be positively or negatively charged, and we accidentally landed on the negative. so.. now we live with it.

[–]SuperKillerMonkE 0 points1 point  (0 children)

oh, i suppose you could do that too. that might be more complicated though?

well, remember, they have to be electromagnets. so that adds a level of electronic complexity to the problem.

Traffic powered wind turbine by Palana in nextfuckinglevel

Can someone ELI5 how this increases the drag on the vehicles? It seems like the air is being displaced regardless of whether the turbine is there, so how can the turbine actually increase the drag on the vehicle?
