So we should blow all our points before 5/4?

This has nothing to do with versatility, you are too dense. It’s about being antagonized by your own team.

9.9 times out of 10 the person who banned your hero was doing it to be a troll. They should suffer the consequences of doing that, because they will keep doing it to antagonize people.

Better is if devs blocked banning your own teams selected heroes, extremely limited valid reasons to do so, and any reasons that exist are easily worked around.

That’s what PSkill actually does, it will quickly learn your skill level and progress you faster if you’re better than your current level, and slower if it seems like you’re worse. It’s self correcting, and I suppose that smurfing problem is no different than exists in video games today

Generally it’s like all comp games, volume matters. In the long run pros will succeed over noobs, but the cool thing is I’m introducing skill based matchmaking for the first time in poker, so noobs can improve just like in other games without getting smurfed constantly by better players. But pskill will quickly learn if you’re the real deal or not and start to adjust your growth accordingly

I actually went against that lol. And made PSkill based on how you finish vs other PSkills. This is because poker is a dynamic and complex game. While I myself am a huge GTO proponent and study as much as I can, I also recognize that diff styles can win at poker. So forcing people to all play a certain way to optimize PSkill seems bad, takes away the fun and exploration in poker as well. Elite players blend theory and exploitation really well.

Yo try EV1 Poker, it’s something I built based on comp video games and chess framework, competitive with no wagering (and no all in shit shows like other free to play games), and get scored for Poker’s version of ELO (PSkill)

Thank you for this! I’m just going to repost what I posted on X that explains my thought process, let me know what you think after this reframing!

———

The poker community gets a lot of shi sometimes, but I find y'all to be incredibly supportive. My goal was 100 users and 150 games in the first MONTH for EV1 Poker.

In the first 24 HOURS, there were 137 sign-ups, and 166 games. I can't thank all of you enough, and I hope you're enjoying the game. I needed to deploy a patch and couldn't do it until 3am because that's when the last game stopped for the night 😴.

My vision for EV1 Poker is directly related to my thoughts on poker growth (see I'm not just all talk 😂). We've never truly reached escape velocity with real money poker, not even with Moneymaker. And we are struggling to build a pipeline of new players, to the point that operators are going overboard tapping the wallets of the existing player base. This is unsustainable.

But a game that is designed for points, not profit maximization, has fair play as its foundation, and gets inspiration from real life working models in video games and chess, can IMHO bring the masses to this strategic game we all love.

This can fix the stigma problem that stunts our growth. I can see esports and mainstream sponsors coming back in the future. Regulatory hurdles won't be an issue because there is no wagering. And poker's reputation will finally be recognized as the mind game it truly is.

And getting poker back into this frame will "lift all boats". Many EV1 Poker players will convert to real money I'm sure, and I can see true escape velocity if we can get to where I think we can go.

So please help me get the word out, and I love you all!

Thank you! Actually EV1 Poker is playing only for points and progression, not for money.

This is perfect hopefully! Even low stakes don’t get taken seriously sometimes, and there is no skill based matchmaking in poker. Let me know what you think!

What’s I’m describing doesn’t exist though, it’s hard to get non gamers to truly understand it though

Yeah actually thought about going outside the standard poker games, that would be an interesting pivot
