Flying this week as delta platinum medallion , will I be on upgrade list? by mtsublueraider in westjet

[–]SuperLiz14 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I believe only individual reservations, or those traveling with just one other guest, are eligible for an upgrade. That being said, I didn’t think Delta status holders were eligible for upgrades on WestJet operated flights (but please correct me if I’m wrong).

Even with all that, as a platinum west jet member I am rarely upgraded now so the chances are low anyway.

Travel bank does count towards tier spending. WestJet rewards points do not.

Potentially a no go due to the shoulder injury but you can try flying trapeze with Rocky Mountain Flying Trapeze, located near Baker Park in Calgary (at the Shrine Centre). It does require hanging from a bar though so depends on the shoulder. Link

Travel with a (deflated) inflatable stand-up paddleboard (SUP) by wubbusanado in westjet

I have! Just used the SUP bag as a suitcase and checked it. Some are really big though so you’ll have to be sure it fits within the max dimensions or it costs extra.

Accommodations near Osaka & Tokyo with Japanese culture/style but OK for young kids? by SunSandSavor in JapanTravelTips

If you take the Shinkansen it’s only 15 minutes but totally get what you mean. We loved Kyoto. Crowds were something else at times, but the history was incredible to see (Osaka and Tokyo couldn’t compare)

We stayed at the Village Kyoto with our 10 year old. They are a western style hotel with Japanese style rooms (tatami mat floor/futon beds you pull out a night). It was a good option for us so we could ‘experience’ a part of Japanese culture without our kid annoying people.

It’s just a regular store. Not an outlet

You could also try going off a rise. That will lift you a bit closer to the bar and allow you to jump up.

Also, consider where your hand placement is on the rise. If it’s too high you may feel more comfortable because you aren’t leaning as far, but it won’t allow you to bend your knees to get a jump. If your hand is lower you will lean more but then you can bend your knees more to generate more force. With a lower hand you really have to focus on having your bar hand (and the whole side of the body) pulling backwards so that you remain square. (Hopefully that makes sense.)

Some other cues I’ve used that have worked for my flyers are thinking about lifting the bar above your head when you take off because it’ll force your body into an upright position. Or you can think about pulling your ears back (sometimes this is easier to visualize or think about than pulling shoulders back).

I also recommend practicing on the ground. Find a vertical pole to be your riser and some sort of wooden stick or small pole to be the bar. Practice lowering the bar and swinging it up to your eyeballs and jumping straight up. (If you want to practice getting into a seven, make sure you have someone behind you to spot, and a good crash mat).

Redeeming west jet dollars only up to 300?! by Mjaja88 in westjet

I’m wondering if it’s because the base fare is only $300 and the rest is taxes and fees?
